A large scale construction project continues on the North Lawn of The White House. The General Services Administration (GSA), which overseas the construction, describes the secretive project only as "infrastructure improvements".

Today at the White House – No public events scheduled

The president and first family are spending the weekend at the White House.  There are no public events on the president’s schedule, but that doesn’t preclude President Obama or the first family from leaving the confines of the White House for an “off-the-record” outing.  The press pool that goes everywhere with the president is on stand-by in the Brady Press Briefing Room in case the president decides to make any announcements or leave the White House.

Obama calls for clean energy as Boehner pledges to 'keep the cuts coming'

(CNN)-President Barack Obama delivered the weekly address from a UPS customer center in Landover, Maryland to drive home the need for a commitment to clean energy vehicles and highlight recent job gains.

The president noted rising gas prices and outlined his plan to strengthen the economy and reduce the nation's dependency on oil imports. He also praised UPS, FedEx, Verizon, AT&T, and PepsiCo for taking the lead in transitioning to more fuel-efficient cars and trucks.

A commitment to increased oil exploration in America is included in the plan, but Obama stated that "drilling alone is not a real strategy to replace our dependence on foreign oil."
