Obama's day ahead: Behind the scenes maneuvering?

Good morning from the White House. By all outward appearances, the president has a very light schedule this Tuesday, but it's likely the behind-the-scenes debt ceiling negotiations will continue at a fever pitch. The contrast between last week - when all the debt ceiling meetings were public - and this week's private talks is clear: with only 14 days remaining until the Treasury Department's August 2 deadline, perhaps all parties are buckling down - and trying to keep the chattering class out of it.

As for the events actually on the president's schedule today, he receives his daily briefing in the morning, followed by a closed-door meeting with senior advisers
