FLOTUS heads to World Series First Lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, will be heading to St. Louis, Missouri on Wednesday to attend game one of the Major League Baseball World Series between the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals. According to a release from the First Lady’s Office, the two women will participate in a pregame ceremony “to recognize Major League Baseball’s outstanding support of America’s veterans and military families as part of their Joining Forces initiative.” Before the game, Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Biden will host an event honoring military families at the St. Louis Veterans Center featuring “Hall of Famer and Army veteran Red Schoendienst.” There they will debut a new public service announcement put together by Joining Forces and MLB featuring New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira and Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Johnny Damon. The PSA will first air later that evening at the game. The women will also field questions on the new initiative as submitted through MLB’s Facebook page and on Twitter using the hashtag #AskMichelle. |

Roughly 56% of homeless veterans are either black or Hispanic, despite only making up12,8% and 15,4% of the population respectively....so I would say that she and Dr. Biden are concentrating their energy on helping homeless veterans is a good thing.

What about the tax credits for hiring returning veterans? A $4000 tax credit for hiring the long-term unemployed? Prohibiting employers from discriminating against the unemployed when hiring?
A $4000 tax credit for hiring the long-term unemployed wold mean that those recently unemployed, or those that are looking to change jobs will be at a disadvantage. Interesting how Liberals will say that corporations are greedy, yet believe that the same corporations will implement this system fairly. What is to keep them from firing existing workers then turn around a hire long term unemployed? We will end up with a revolving door of tax credits.

Does this mean that an employer (greedy company) can not take into consideration that this person has not worked in two years? You know that you are actually saying that they can not take someone recent job experience into consideration.
