Rush's comments pale in comparison to those vile public insults, which ran non-stop, towards Palin's daughter ... maybe it's time to return the favor to Obama's daughters !!!

No Howard! And not to please Jean and Trace but if you do what they did, you will be no better than them!

Children should be off limits! All of them!

        Steveo ...
I was not suggesting that I would do such a thing ... I was just making a point
        about double standards and hypocrisy.

What are you Steveo , a space cadet or something? All of a sudden, you've found yourself trying to defend the indefensible. You've never heard me mention a word about Palin's children or anyone else's child for that fact. And, I would bet you never heard Jean say such a thing. While I may have vile words for GOP/Tea-Potties, I don't extend such vitriol to children... And to think the fact you are actually a closet Republican/GOPee brain is what has just been made obvious. Here you are trying to saying to say How-wee carries a high moral character that he needs not lower himself. Ok...Steveo, I actually attemtpted to appeal to your rational side; my mistake. But do us all a favor, just be yourself and stand up for your convictions and not waste time being a hypocrit.

        Howard,

My point is this, We know about the double standards and hypocrisy. Somebody will take your words and run with it! children are off limits. That is my point!

        @ Trace,

It appears reading comprehension is not your strong point! Where did I mention you or Jean talking about Palin's children? Where did state I defend the practice of belittling children? The fact remains SOME on the the attacked Palin's children , SOME on the left attacked Bush's children while SOME on the right attacked Obama's children. Once more for the comprehension impaired...CHILDREN SHOULD BE OFF LIMITS! I don't think it was a good idea for Howard to even mention it!

Am I typing this too fast for you? How about reading before you spout off? You would be far better off!

      • Steveo

@Trace, here is something you won't hear a liberal say:

I owe you and Jean an apology. The" they" I am referring is the left in general and not you two! You and Jean often state I don't take sides. The "not to please trace and jean" meant to show you I am taking a side. Not politically left or right but what is right! The side is CHILDREN ARE OFF LIMITS. I re-read my remarks and see where the confusion lies. So for that I apologize. I dd not convey this well! What I just mentioned is what I meant!

Howard, trying a bit of an experiment here. First of all, I'm going to refer to your name correctly...that's a start. In a post further below I asked "Ray of Georgia" if in this case a man went to the U.S. Congress to complain about Viagra being removed from his benefits package, would he be in your estimation deserving of this same treatment...i.e. being called names and nationally ridiculed? I asked this with respect and an appeal to your intelligence. I expect the same type of clear response. Steveo, the same holds true for you.

CHARACTER = When a man, like Mitt Romney, donates his inheritance to charity.

CORRUPTION = When a man, like obama, uses the power of the state, to confiscate other people's hard earned money, squanders it, and finances loser companies, in exchange for political contributions, in an effort to get himself reelected.

Insert Bush instead of Obama then you have it right. Halliburton ring a bell? 4500 lives ring a bell? 10.7 Trillion national debt the day Obama took office ring a bell ? 1.3T deficit in 2009 charged to Bush ring a bell?

Hey libs – this is the same group that will be making decisions on your cancer care, your moms alzheimers care....your dads new knee, your kids medicines for hormone imbalance.....your heart condition.....
you all think this is a big joke and fun to rip on the Catholic Church – if they don't respect the Church's views on this.....what makes you think they will respect what you have to say? oh because you voted for them and they said they would look after you?? The church supported Obamacare also and most Catholics voted for Obama last time also.....
    face it – you're NEXT!

      Amen John Ross,
so sad that most posting haven't a clue what is going on here. Obama and his commie tactics – they will definitely see soon enough...when they are paying 10$ gal for gas and forced by the govt to buy certain vehicle or be fined, or when they are seeing 40% of their paycheck go to the feds, and the list goes on. Obama is smart, I'll give him that. He has planned these little diversions that he hopes will get him votes from women.... We're doomed if he's in office another four years! It's actually rather sad that so many believe in him...but, I see it in my community and it's those who have the "entitlement" mentality and think that those who have become more successful and are making more money should be paying for the rest of them to have what they want. WRONG.

yes...yes...this is about your constitutional rights...w/o our bill of rights there is NO America. The democratic party has been hi jacked by the far far left...liberal in this country (from a political point of view) used to be center left and that is where Romney is...so it don't take a PHD to understand the democratic party is no longer a viable american political party...unless you are a socialist.

So, John, does the Catholic Church feel the same way about Viagra? Is the church against that drug being made accessible for men? If not, why not? Not all men need it and if it has no medical benefits, why should we as tax payers be forced to pay for it, ....much like your argument about contraception, when clearly there is proof women are using birth control prescriptions for other health needs.

i really think when a university student has paid $1,895 of her own money for a university mandated health insurance policy, the university should butt out and let her and her doctor make decisions about what health care options she is prescribed.

THIS IS PATHETIC. How is this discussion even taking place with the US Congress as a forum? This is simply the weakest set of legislators in US history – has any effective legislation been written within the past 10 years? The Congress is a joke – as is this imposter, masquerading as a victimized college student. This 30 year-old WOMAN has a personal history as a political activist. The President's involvement in this staged political event is a tremendous mistake. There is no issue here – a box of condoms costs 99 cents at a "dollar" store – matter closed. A disingenuous profession of concern by the POTUS for this attention-starved "law student", while millions of US citizens are struggling to feed their families and obtain employment, is a misplaced, absurd, and insensitive gesture.

Paying for erectile dysfunction medicine is ONLY for the purpose of having sex. Contraceptive pills have other uses besides birth control. Truely a case if what's good for the goose is exactly as good for the gander.

      March 2, 2012 at 6:49 pm |
    • Iamnotfooled

Its amazing how you can interpret or spin a story. Anyone can go to college. It does not matter if she is 30. This is about womens health. How can a condom help that? You are unbelieveable. About the President staging this, that's ridiculous. Who started the big controversy? Rush Limbaugh.

      March 4, 2012 at 12:33 am |
      • Geronimooooo

The issue of contraception is a singular, specific subject, subsumed under the much broader subject of women's health. Ms. Fluke chose to complain about CONTRACEPTION coverage; she chose to represent herself – feigning vulnerability – as a student without the acknowledgment that she's a political activist; and she purports to represent the voice of all women – these are the causes of the furor.

How is a condom related to women's health – are you serious – whose the spinner?

I did not accuse the President of staging the event, just of politically profiteering from it.

Stop being a shill – THINK for yourself!

Good for Obama. At least someone in government can show a little class. Limbaugh's comments were obviously calculated to intimidate anyone else from voicing opinions similar to Ms Fluke's. The "Radio Voice of the Republican Party" has sunk to a new low and exposed just how morally bankrupt the party has become. The tepid denouncements of his ranting from prominent Republicans, like John Boehner, demonstrates how low the party has sunk as to be intimidate by the likes of such a sorry lowlife as Rush Limbaugh. I'm sure all of you good "Christians" out their a dancing with joy at Limbaugh's remarks.

@Steveo For a professed independent/and or christian you certainly enjoy dancing on the wrong side of each issue. Was there a problem with coming out and directly stating you disagree with Rush Limbag?

Anyone with an ounce of sense knows Rush Limbag was being vile and disgusting....like many of the other right-wing dropouts hired by Fox. Every person, woman, daughter and granddaughter or those who love those female members of their family should not tolerate his offensive language. No one should be ashamed to state their disgust.

N0 all of us good Christians are actually praying for you who are not. And, this young woman who made herself look like a fool – we're praying for her too. She wants to have sex – good for her. That's her business – and that's her expense if she wants to protect herself from getting pregnant. She lied by saying the girl who went to the pharmacy and couldn't get her BC had no other choice. That's bull – she had plenty of choices...check out the condom counter, go get your tubes tied, go to the dr. and ask for another option – there are plenty of them. Bottom line, Rush made a point – very crudely, but he made it. You want the American tax payer to pay for your privilege to go to college and have sex....NO...

Steveo, Again you receive the award for the "intellectually numb award", you spend so much time on the fence, your crotch must be constantly irritated. I realize you profess yourself to be an independent christian that never takes side but that's a complete oxy moron. As a christian, you MUST TAKE sides......You simply do not have the luxury to stand idly by an watch the "lesser of these, be persecuted by others".....ever heard the story about the woman that found in an adulterous act? Remember the people said, "according to the law, she should be stoned to death" Guess what Rush just did? Oh wait, you're gonna find some pathetic excuse to be not only a hypocrit but a purposely ignorant...all so you can say you are an independent christian. Steveo, you are really special. I don't know what's worse a closet racist or someone like you, unable to find a side to stand on ...no matter how obvious it is that an injustice is well underway. Both are cowards

@TRACE. Thanks for the concern over my crotch! That makes me uncomfortable that you are that concerned. Please keep the numb award, you are far more deserving than I. so, now you and jean are telling me what to respond to and how? How liberal! There is a lot going on that I disapprove of Trace. That does not mean I post it!

        March 2, 2012 at 10:09 pm |
      • Steveo

@Trace. I NEVER takes sides? I think you are just jilted that I refused your invite to join the "tolerant" liberals. Speaking of Oxymoronic! What was my reaction when i read the Rush comments on ABC.com? What was my reaction to know she can afford Georgetown but wants somebody else to fund her pills. Since you know what my reaction was, how about you post it here. Better be right Trace, because if your not, I will call you out on it

Let me help with the Bible story Trace! According to the LAW of Moses BOTH Male and female was to be stoned. Where was the man, Trace? Why was only the woman going to be stoned? Jesus understood the crowd cared NOTHING for the law. The law required BOTH to be stoned! All they wanted was to entrap Him! What where the last words Jesus spoke to the woman? He said GO AND SIN NO MORE! Sage advice for today, right?

        @jean2009,

Since when is voicing an opinion that is opposite of yours equal to being on the wrong side of an issue? Why are you so sure your opinions are right when mine are wrong? Obviously since you oppose me, you think I am wrong. Realize this is a two way street. meaning, I think your wrong! Exactly where does that get us, Jean? I have stated before how you have every right to your opinions. Yet I don't? You don't see the irony and hypocrisy in this?

      • jean2009

@ Steveo I call what you are doing dancing on the head of a pin....for you to say you don't take sides is to use Rick Santorums' lame word "absurd". To others, such as me, it is obvious that "yes" you do take sides, and definitely you are not as claimed an independent. Look in the mirror and see yourself as others see you. One who is quick to shore up people like Rush by not "independently" saying he was wrong and crossed the line....when you should be just as offended as the majority of caring people.

Just don't falsely call yourself an independent since that in fact is not true. You are just another right-wing Rush loving poster.

in what way did saying we were disgusted with Rush's remarks indicate we would strangely being rejoicing?

Steveo, both Jean and myself eagerly await your balanced words of wisdom regarding if the catholic church supports the use of Viagra as being morally acceptable.(?) In contrast, women use contraceptives for a number of health issues, not related to birth control. Any intelligent person knows that. But there is NO EVIDENCE whatsoever, that men derive any health benefits from the use of Viagra...only bedtime performance. Again, awaiting your answer....this should be good...I'm getting the popcorn ready now.

        @Jean2009,

Sorry but I am not concerned about you thinking I am dancing a the head of a pin! That means nothing to me. i told you before I don't listen to Rush. If that is not good enough for you, oh well! So you think I take sides and Trace doesn't and that conflict between you and him are based upon the very same words i write? Who's right jean? You or Trace?
if one thinks I take s and one thinks I don't,you both can't be right.

Believe or not Jean, I prefer supporting what's right! If the Dems are right on an issue, I'll support it! if the GOP is right on an issue, I'll support it! Right used to be more important than party!

Mrs Obama's support to get kids active and eat better! I am good with that. The support for the military and their families, I am good with that! I am not blinded to think no good ideas come from the left! I am not blinded to think the right is ALWAYS right! Some of you think one side is always wrong and the other is always right! Not me. I look at policy. if that is dancing on the head of a pin, so be it! I will continue to dance!, whether you you and Trace like it or not! As a reminder, I will address the issues I choose to address! I will pass on those I choose to pass on. My pass on the Rush story is not indication of agreement with him. I knew more than enough folks would chime in!.

I don't post here to impress you, Trace, or anyone else. I post here because I can! That's real!

Steveo, are you stalling for time because you don't have a rational answer? LOL.....I would anticipate you are the one that needs to breathe, because your attempts to placate and essentially make a feeble attempt to patronize me is well beyond hilarious. I asked you a rather simple question, and I did it while breathing through my nose, as is normal. I've seen your type...they stutter and stammer for words in a weak attempt to determine how to extricate themselves trying to defend an unreasonable position. If your position is of fairness, independence and theologically based, then the answer is obvious; A man in Ms. Fluke's position should be treated the exact same why and/or the catholic church would not defend a man's use of Viagra. Ha, there I said it for you....And I'm protestant and believe that hypocrisy is a failing and not something you dance around with a word like "breathe" LOL Ok Steveo, you've been given an opportunity to stand a position and been found severly wanting.

        March 3, 2012 at 2:57 pm |

@Catherine since when is a student who is charged a mandatory insurance premium over and above her tuition by Georgetown University each fall quarter, and each spring quarter, and is also charged an extra $100 fee if she wishes to waive their mandatory insurance each quarter...costing you a dime?

        March 3, 2012 at 6:32 pm |
      • Steveo

        @Trace,

Nice try Trace! Please tell me why you feel i owe you and answer. regardless, I will you you my answer! First, I would like to know why a grown man feels the need to whine before Congress about his Viagra. I would wonder why he feels the government is the answer! I would revoke his man card as he is a wimp!

Secondly I am not a Catholic and will not presume to speak for them but, the Bible does not address this issue and in my mind, it is a question of PERSONAL choice. As far as i am concerned this issue is not one that threatens anyone's salvation. In saying that I would also say, this is an issue INTERNAL to the Catholic Church! So why is the government involved?

As for Ms Fluke, the 30 year old activist, the first word that comes to my mind is PLANT!
Oh btw, not once did i stutter or stammer. So you find me wanting? AND you are?????? Sorry dude, I did not realize I had to measure up to any of your expectations of me, I missed that memo!

Pray tell, exactly what faults you find in my response.

        March 3, 2012 at 6:34 pm |
      • Trace

Steveo, your failings are evident. Let's start with the "man card" stuff; that's pretty funny. I know you think its macho to say "show me your man card" and its a commercial and all, but come on dude. I don't need to show my man card to anyone. If the woman you are with isn't proudly extolling you're qualities, chances are, the man card is a forgery. LOL But let's get down to some realities here.....You said that its about personal choice, but is this whole argument about "religious freedoms"???? Oh, so what you are saying is you disagree with the GOP/Tea Potty argument and agree with Obama's policy? Why didn't you say that in the first place, instead of trying to guide How-wee away from disparaging Obama's daughters? Why didn't you simply say, this is a matter of personal choice and defend that position? Instead you made it sound like it was about decorum and proper discourse, leaving children out of it. Lastly, "plant"? Ms Fluke is a college student at Georgetown. What part is a plant? The White House had her start classes last semester at Georgetown just to begin her advocacy for this issue this week? Did you not know that Ms. Fluke's parents are died in the wool Republicans? You sound like Sheriff Arpaio (SIC)....investigating forged birth certificates...LOL What's with the conspiracy theory? Do you think Ms. Fluke is the only woman in America that would stand against the church making decisions about her insurance. And finally that lends me to my last comment...Yes you are found wanting, .... With all that vast intellect you missed the fact that 1) A man card is only for commericals, the real man card is issued by the woman that knows and is the ONLY arbiter of its existence...but you'd only know this if were that type of man 2) You failed to support your position initially...Yes this is about personal choice, when the GOP / Tea Pots say its about religious freedoms and 3) If you think that a woman in today's society isn't going to stand up for her rights concerning contraception, you don't know women AT ALL AND YES FOUND SEVERLY WANTING – LOL You need to learn a thing or two before trying to make yourself out to be something you are not

      • Steveo

        Trace,

Are you so pompous you can get a joke? First of all what man is going to whine before Congress about Viagra. Weak example dude! I repeat there is NOTHING in the Bible pro or con about this issue. Btw, i meant what I said about all children being off limits whether left or right! Any attacks on family is out of line! Did you read the post i responded to, Trace? It had NOTHING to did with Ms Fluke, I was about the children of the President!

What does Ms Fluke's parents have to do with anything? This is not about them. Severely wanting? By you? Cool I can live with that. i thought you were talking about me being found wanting by some one of important to me. Just you, eh? You had me worried for a while? You? Man, that is some funny stuff right there! Real Comedy Central Stuff! !

Amen. I have two daughters who went to college. I didn't expect anyone to pay for their birth control – but I also know my daughters didn't expect that. If they decided sex was on their curriculum, they made sure they were protecting their lives, preventing pregnancy, etc. This young woman makes it sound like it's their right to have sex and that we should pay for the prevention of pregnancy that is sure to happen. What's next. folks?

        March 2, 2012 at 5:36 pm |
      • Catherine

Amen. Rush is a little harsh – but his point is right on. Anyone who has a daughter should applaud his decision to say "no, we are not paying for your BC." A law student worried about pregnancy but not worried about HIV, STDs, etc. His point was that we're tired of paying for others' adventures or challenges.... what do we get for that sacrifice. He phrased it entirely wrong – but the point was made.

Catherine, You should have listened to the full testimony before MOUTHING OFF like you actually know what you are talking about. Ms. Fluke mentioned one of her fellow classmates that needs contraception given a medical condition she has. Further, it is doctor's that are saying contraception has other benefits than soley circumventing pregnancy. As a women you should learn something about this subject, so that you don't sound like a complete baffoon....oops, too late. Lastly, even if the only reason we should be against contraception is keep women from getting pregnant...should we also pay for Viagra? ? Answer that question genius

If Limbaugh thinks that birth control pills are only for ‘sluts’ because they want to have sex, and that employers should deny benefits to women, how does he feel about medicine for men who have erectile dysfunction? Medicine for this condition is only for the purpose of having sex. The contraceptive pill has many uses, just not for sex. He should be pressed on this issue and pressed hard.

I agree, Rush is a little over the edge. However, it's disappointing that Obama would call this woman to basically applaud her. Really. A student who goes to school where tuition for one year is over 40K can't afford contraceptive so she can have sex. And, he applauds the fact that this woman thinks that birth control is the only issue here. buy a condom for god's sakes. Protect yourself from HIV, pregnancy and everything else. He wants to applaud this behavior?
Sorry, I think he should be calling the families of the murdered soldiers that were executed in Afghanistan last week after defending a nation for 10 years. I think he should also call this woman's parents and discuss with them that their daughter is having unprotected sex and that's a bigger issue than having a pill at your disposal. And, I don't know about you – but I'm tired of paying for healthcare, birth control or otherwise for people who think it is a God-given right of theirs to have it. Work and pay for it yourself like most of the rest of us do. And, if you want to have sex in college – go for it – just pay for your little adventures. I'm with Rush – if I'm going to pay for your pleasures then I also want to know what's in it for me. I don't care about seeing this person having sex – just like Rush doesn't. He is making a point folks... We are tired of paying for what you think is YOURS' and we get zilch in return.

Purchasing health insurance at Georgetown University is mandatory for all students.
Georgetown University is a Catholic/Jesuit school.
The student not only pays tuition, but pays their own insurance premium.

        March 3, 2012 at 5:57 pm |
      • jean2009

A.) You are not paying for Miss Fluke's insurance, nor are you paying for anyone who has insurance and who is paying a premium. You are paying for people who have no insurance, and that because of that fact they wait until they are sick to go to the emergency room.

Maybe you should read the Georgetown University insurance plan before you start making rash comments....since the only way to waive purchasing the Georgetown mandatory insurance premium they charge students is for the student to provide proof they already have coverage of $100,000 after the fact.

The university automatically charges the student up front for their insurance premium whether they need it or not, at the being of each fall term. Then the student has to go through the hassle of getting a waiver to have the premium stopped for that year.

I loved the part of the policy were if the student decides to ask for the waiver the student has to pay a $100 fee to have the college insurance waived.

Ms. Fluke exercised her Constitutionally protected right to speak out, nothing more. I do not agree with all of her points, but I spent 23 in the military protecting her right to do exactly that. I did not spend those 23 years protecting Rush Limbaughs right to diparage this young woman with derogatory comments. He should be ashamed of himself. I know that there are other options for her birth control, but she is only one woman speakjng of her situation. There are millions of other women in America who do not have her privilege, those are the women that require this protection. As a taxpayer, I would rather have my tax dollars go to preventing n unwanted pregnancy, as opposed to raising a child for 18 years. Abortion as a form of birth control is abhorrent, and I will protest that to my dying day,ut I would never stoop to the level of Mr. Limbaugh, I hope Ms. Fluke sues him for every penny that drug using moron has.

I will not vote for Obama – and I don't have a screw loose. As a mother, veteran, business owner – I'm sick of government telling me I have to buy healthcare for someone else. I'm also tired of the ignorance in this country that so many have fought and died for – to believe that the issue here is healthcare...you're wrong. The issue is we have a President who will use any means to win re-election, i.e., dividing this country with this ridiculous topic about college students and their sex rights. Give me a break. You want to have sex – go for it...just make sure you pay for any product you deem necessary out of your pocket or your mom and dad's pockets – not mine and not my family. We worked too hard for too long to have what we have – and I'm tired of this President telling me that I will give more. Sorry folks – I for one have given my share. The rest is for my family.

GM just announced they will stop production on the Volt "to meet demand". I guess that really means they made too many and can't sell them. They're laying of 1300 but expect to rehire them in April. As far as Fluke goes, who cares? Considering what she's paying in tuition surely she can afford birth control or either go to planned parenthood and get it for free, but that's not good enough, she wants taxpayers to foot the bill.

Now let me think, didn't we just come out of almost a 3 year period of 700,000 being laid off from 25 companies starting in December 2007 through 2010? Of those 200,000 lay offs were from the auto industry. Of those107,000 from GM when overall car sells dropping at the rate of 16 million units for 2005 and 11 million units in 2009.

      What is your point?

Not only is she paying for her tuition she is also paying her own health insurance premium....paying her health insurance premium through Georgetown University which is a Catholic/Jesuit School. I don't think that gives Georgetown the right to decide what medical prescriptions she has access to as it is her premium money. She and her doctor should make that decision.

      March 3, 2012 at 5:53 pm |
      • Paul

ms. fluke does not pay for her tuition... it is currently being covered at 90% by a scholarship. The premiums for the insurance either she or her family covers – and the school has every right to say – we'll offer HEALTH insurance – not your contraceptive choices.... you don't want to get pregnant – stop by the condom counter or go get fixed.

        March 4, 2012 at 3:35 pm |
      • jean2009

She earned the scholarship and the $1895 she pays each semester for MANDATORY university health insurance which is her's regardless of who pays the premium her or her parents....To deny women access to health care that should be decided by her and her doctor is in my opinion a violation of each individual woman's Constitutional rights of freedom from religious persecution.

Isn't the church in fact abandoning the whole point of freewill.

BTW do you also think the U.S. overstepped it's first amendment bounds when it ban polygamy?

I see nothing but racism, bigotry, and polarizing conversation coming from this supposedly ex drug addict blowhard . Women who take contraceptives are "sluts" and "prostitutes" and should video their intimate moments and post the videos for Limbaugh's enjoyment on You Tube? Insane. Good "Christians" can vote en masse for Republicans who drool over Limbaugh's comments. It won't matter. What Miss. Fluke did before the Democrat show in congress was to ask for a handout. A government-compelled handout. Why should everyone have to pay to finance her promiscuous lifestyle? When will the government pay for condoms? Why should women get special treatment?

What will be the next human activity that some people will want the government to pay for, or force others to pay for? When people begin to see the federal government as a Santa Claus that will supply whatever they want or need, well, our country is on the fast track to disaster. Yes, I can see that it might be hard for you to wrap your head around the fact that Ms. Fluke's testimony wasn't about having unlimited sex with free birth control, but rather it was about one of her fellow students that needed the contraceptives for a medical condition. The fact the fellow student couldn't afford the prescription and lost one of her ovaries would mean nothing to Rush or those vapid few that would even listen to him. She's handled this with style and grace. Limbaugh looks like a complete buffoon in comparison. Moreover, Limbaugh has shined the spotlight on his employer, Clear Channel. The purpose of the government is not to impose the will of the 99, it is to protect the freedoms of the 100. Obama has used big government to impose his religious beliefs on everyone. While only some American's religions have been fundamentally violated, all Americans have been deprived of basic freedom. Barack Obama is not okay. I want my freedom back.

What a lot of bloviating BS there is in these comments. And all based on an error. Nobody is suggesting women get "free" contraception. The issue is, should an INSURER be able to exclude a normal preventive health item – like mammograms, blood pressure tests, whatever – based on their religious whim? The COST will be figured into womens' policy premiums like everything else: nothing is "free." However, the added premium would be way less than the retail cost, so overall there's a big saving, and we're reducing the social costs of unplanned pregnancies – much to the dismay of the Limpballs of this world, who hate to see women being in any way empowered to control their own lives.

Either pile debt on debt until the whole system topples over and we are back to the 1930's on steriods.or pay your own way. Mz "Flake" wants you to follow the Liberal/Progressive way. Just send all your money up to the Government and have them "Baby Sit" you. It has been reported that the Nationl Debt, over 15 Trillion Dollars is larger than the Gross National Product. So it appears we have arrived at "Greece". Your Choice. Personal Responsibility or the Nanny State.

Ray, gonna try something new with you, in particular. I think you'll fail miserable but miracles do happen. If, as a matter of conjecture, a man went to the U.S. Congress to testify against Viagra being removed as an insurance benefit, would He get the same reaction from the right wing ? Hey...I did this without calling anyone or party a name. Steveo, I would love to hear your take on this. I'm sure it will be without any ambiguity.

        Trace,
Re-read my post. If a man is paying for his own Health Insurance, he doesn't need to ask the TAX PAYER to fund it. So where are you Politically?? Personal Responsibilituy or the Nanny State?? I already posted "Where" I am on this subject.

Now, I wonder who is paying for Mz "Falke's Education?? First she may get a Degree. Then she will go out in the world, (We can only hope) and get an Education. The school of Hard Knocks takes no prisonors, but you either know that or are in for a rude awakening..Sombody has to fill those gorcery shelevs. You can't phone it in. Nanny State??

Ray, I had reason to suspect you would fail miserably at my hypothetical and you didn't disappoint. First of all 83% OF ALL AMERICANS get their insurance through their employer. Its considered a benefit but we pay for it ourselves with the discounts of being in a Group Plan. The same holds true in this situation if Ms. Fluke's friend was on her parent's insurance. We're talking "out of pocket expenses" here Ray. Please try to keep up. EVERYONE PAYS FOR INSURANCE, even under Obama's Socialist "We hate healthcare plan, so say the GOP / Tea Pot heads" plan. If just once you people actually debated the facts and not some bumper sticker mumbo jumbo, we might be able to get some where in the discussion. Further, I would say that I went to school much the way Ms. Fluke is attending. I had to pay for it! I am still repaying my loans, but the school of Hard Knocks I have attended since day one. Unless someone is born into wealth, we ALL attend the school of Hard Knocks. So get over it Ray and try to answer the question. Once again: If a male student took Ms. Fluke's place in this discussion, saying that his insurance should cover Viagra...would you support him or be against him?

ok...I now understand why GOP / Tea Potties call "lefties / Iibruls" snobs for wanting to go to school. The ability to use critical thinking and logic is abhorant, Huh Ray?

Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke‘s controversial testimony on Capitol Hill, claiming that Georgetown students spend upwards of $1,000 per year on contraception would mean that students like Fluke are having sex more than 5 times per day, according to some simple math.

    Humm,
If everybody is paying their own health insurance????, why is Mz. "Flake" up before congress??? I don't understand??? Is it because she wants someone else to pay for it??? And as a side note, after 75 years of Big Government Programs, why is the country in such a mess. Wha Hoppen???

She's in front of Congress because the Catholic church was against having to make birth control pills available to women on their campuses. So she was explainly about her friend who had to have them for health reasons, the cyst she had on her ovary which the pill helps to shrink.
As for why the country is in such a mess ask the Republican Presidents. Mainly the last one.

      March 4, 2012 at 12:15 am |
      • Paul

the young woman with the health/cysts issues was able to get birth control pills to help with her issues because they were HEALTH issues. Fluke and her friends who want the pill for purposes ONLY to prevent pregnancy when they have sex are not in the same boat. Ms. Fluke needs to stand up for something much more important than her sexual desires.

Let's take the time deconstruct the idiocy of your post "if everyone pay's their own insurance, why is Ms. Fluke up before congress"? Ms. Fluke believes that the insurance premium SHE IS PAYING OUT OF HER POCKET SHOULD INCLUDE THE CONTRACEPTIVES and that shouldn't be decided by the catholic church. And two your next idiotic question, No she doesn't want someone else to pay for it, she wants it covered IN WHAT SHE ALREADY PAYS. But that takes me back to the arguments against Obamacare (as the dumb as dirt Tea Potties put it)....when somebody who doesn't have insurance, walks into an emergency room and receives guaranteed services, WHO DO YOU THINK PAYS FOR IT?? Finally Jean answered your last question...the reason this country is in such a mess is people like you simply don't bother to think, and then you go into a voting booth and make us all suffer with your bad decisions and lack of understanding.

This woman was not talking about herself. She was referring to her friend who needed the pill for a big cyst on her ovary. So any comments directed at her are wrong. She was talking about womens health issues. President Obama showed class by calling her. Unlike the representative of the GOP who does what the GOP does Best spin the stories and call people names.

Trace – I'm not a tea party one, nor a rep. or dem – as an independent I see clearly your vile ugly behavior. Both sides of this political mess are not fighting for the people of this country. In fact, there's more harm than good from both sides. I am hopeful that we find a replacement for Obama as he has caused much damage in all aspects – economically, socially, etc. We are more divided as a people than we've been since the Civil War....fighting each other – fighting with people we once called friends and neighbors. Sad... Ms. Fluke has done nothing to help the American people, in particular the young women she thinks she may have helped. In fact, she's brought more harm to them. If your a father, you would see this. I am and I do. If she was my daughter I would be more concerned about the possibility that she exposes herself to HIV and STDs...rather than pregnancy. If she's as smart as she makes out she is – she can figure out her contraceptive – and if it requires $3000 – I suggest she either work to pay for that, see her doctor for other options – there are several, or perhaps the idea of condoms might be in her vocabulary. As for all those talking about viagra – I think it falls in the same category. For Catholic schools, institutions, workplace environments, etc... sex outside of marriage is sinful – and if this young woman wants to go to a school where anything goes – then I suggest she turn that scholarship over to someone whose values are in line with Georgetown...

Aw now Jean. I believe you are describing yourself. (Idiots like you) Careful there you're letting the cat out of the bag. You want me to buy a Pig in a Poke. And iamnotfooled you should know if the person Mz "Flake" is describing needed medical care she could have gone to any Emergency Room at any Hospitial and got Treetment. Believe me, I know as I am pretty close to the Medical Profession. You like the Nanny State, you know who to vote for. A real bif sucess over the last 75 years. What, 47 Million now on food stamps? But "Idiots" like me caused it Eh??? Happy Landings.

You know Ray, idiocy is a lot like alcoholism. Remember; one never recovers from being an alcoholic but rather the very first challenge is admitting they have the problem. I would have to assert you are an idiot just on the strength of two contravening conditions.

.....and it is people like Ray that insist must fight with every ounce of our being to insure people go on to some type of training after high school. (though I doubt Ray finished much past primary school) .......And if Ray works in any capacity "close to the medical industry" aside from taking out the trash, I will need to call ALL my relatives in Georgia and make sure he has NOTHING whatsoever to do with attending to their medical needs....the results would be catastrophic.

I would suggest each person here go online and read the Premier Plan Booklet pdf for Georgetown University which charges every students $1,895 upfront for their Health Care United health insurance premium each semester. The $1,895 is on top of their tuition. Then the university charges them another $100 fee to waive that mandatory insurance....provided if they can prove they have $100,000 of accidental and $100,000 of sickness coverage elsewhere.

Why should any university have the right to dictate what a doctor can prescribe for one of the students attending that university? Can they mandate they buy a specific type car or get a donkey to drive to class a la the 2nd Century AD. That in my opinion walks all over the individual Constitutional rights of each student from religious persecution. Not all students attending Georgetown University are Catholic.
What is prescribed a student by their doctor should be between the student and the doctor...after all they have paid $1,895 for their own insurance premium.

So... Ray maybe before you post you should do some research about what you are posting.

How about those advertisers pulling from time from Rush's show? They have more guts than some of the whimpy lame call-outs by the right-wings nuts here, and in congress. What he said about Sandra Fluke who just happens to buy her own health insurance for $1,895 each semester is appalling. He really needs to make that move to Costa Rica which he threatened during the health care debate...only what he didn't tell all his brainwashed followers is that Costa Rica already has universal health care coverage.

    March 4, 2012 at 4:32 pm |
  36. jean2009

Oh in Costa Rica 96% of women use some form of contraception, which is paid for by their universal health care coverage. Not only that many non-nationals go there for the reasonably priced health insurance which they can purchase for their medical care.

    Rush Limbaugh a repeat liar.
