First lady reveals WH has a "teeny" kitchen

Mrs. Obama gave a short preview of tonight's State Dinner to a group of local students this afternoon in the State Dining Room.  Explaining the intricate dance required to serve dinner for 150 guests, the first lady described the kitchen to the audience.

"The White House is a big place, but the kitchen is really teeny. You wouldn't believe it - it's a little bitty kitchen, so they have to really man the engines to make it happen," Mrs. Obama explained.

As if she'll actually be doing any of the cooking or serving. Come on CNN, why do you keep turning out these meaningless fluff pieces?

I agree – what kind of stories are they running? Why am I not surprised to see nothing on the "Obama flag" or "killing eagles? You go CNN... Let's not run anything that isn't positive for BO...
      The WH kitchen is 600' x 400'.

Why do you continue to read, I'm assuming you read the piece and then commenting?

I am not sure what you mean. I try to read as much as possible. Just because I disagree with something doesn't mean I won't read it. After all, I am not a dem.

My name is sponge bob, and i wanted to whine to anybody who will listen
because i dont like this story, and i should be able to dictate what other people read.
My opinion is the only important one,
now i am gonna stomp my feet and hold my breath.
      Wha, wha, wha.

While Americans are suffering at the pumps, looking for work, and watching their home values sink, Obama responds with another self promotional propaganda movie, called "The Road Weve Traveled", which once again, pitches Obama as our savior, and the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's time for Americans to save our country, and kick this lying charlatan out of the White House !!!

      • SaintM

Howard, and GW Bush wasn't a lying charlatan? That's the problem with you stinking repubs, you disagree with anything that isn't your way, but are happy when a serial drunken sailor like Bush screwed this country for the next couple of decades.

Sponge-Bob...Did you complain about the 2 hour long 'fluff piece' CNN showed us of Mrs Bush's kitchen talk of the preparations that went ont on in the Whitehouse, the food, the china that they were going to use, the music that was going to be played?? I don't think so! When Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip came it was all about 'fluff piece', Pomp and Circumstance...and that was that! Oh yeah, and that happened while America certainly was on the road to failure! We certainly didn't have the money then..but did you all complain? No way...that was our President GWB and we stood behind him with a smile on our faces like everything was just fine! You all can't have it both ways...if you keep thinking you can, well I start thinking you're biggots!!

I guess her kitchen in chicago was BIG eh? Laura Bush at least spent her time championing education...she felt that was the way out of poverty... Mz obama's way out is big kitchens and her menu for all.

I would champion education too, were I married to W.

      Jerry,
Laura Bush would point to you as an example of "failure".
Let me guess, you are a Republican.
Michelle is a champion of healthy eating for children.
She even had a garden put in for fresh vegatables.
Now, go answer the door, your pizza and beer have arrived.

Well you folk turned right around and said 'no child left behind' was a failure, as soon as The Obamas started trying to restruture it and reinstitute it into the nations' educational program! Oh and according to GOPs Rick Santorum.... it isn't important anyway...Americans know how to make it in America without going to school! All Americans don't have to go to college!! Flip-flopping Republicans..you don't really stand for anything! You know darn well Pres and Mrs Obama have had education on the front burner since he got in office! Why don't you just stop all the BS!! It really is just stupid the comments you spew!!

Teeny kitchen, intricate dance to serve 150 people, wow is she helping, does she know where the kitchen is. How come her chef has not complained.

    March 14, 2012 at 7:44 pm |
    • Teresa

Wow, look at all the catty remarks. Who really care if she know where the kitchen is? She was doing a tour with high school kids, yes the First Lady was part of the tour. Probably made the tour a little more interesting. Get off her back, if you hate her husband then go after him. She didn't run for office and she's doing a fine job of representing the USA as First Lady. I am damn sick of all the hatred on these forums. Why don't you all grow up and stop acting like the 4th grade bully.

@ John... your reading comprehension does need some work so continue reading and you'll see what I mean. There is so much hate you can't help but notice. By the way hate goes all ways, I don't care if you're GOP, TP, Dem or a fan of the Herd a little civility goes a long way.

OMG ! There is a pastry chef in the White House? What the hell? Has anyone investigated this? Why haven't I seen anything on Fox noise? This must be another conspiracy? Is this tied to Solyndra? Get Oreally and Sean Vanity on the phone!

While Michele keeps hawking healthy food for all us peons, her and Barack have a full time pastry chef on staff ... just another example of Obama hypocrisy.

The white house has always had a pastry cheif you jerk off. Apparently you all are to stupid to gey the jest of the article. But thats to be expected. Your repos.

    March 14, 2012 at 11:06 pm |
    • John

The jist of the article is that Michele thinks a 600' x 400' kitchen is tiny.

      March 15, 2012 at 8:32 am |
      • Teresa

The actually size of the kitchen and pantry are 22×27.5 feet, that's 605 square feet. Took me 2 seconds on Google to find that information. My own kitchen is 18×20 with a 7×6 pantry or 402 square feet. Yes, I'd say by comparison to the rest of the house that would qualify as "teeny".

        Teresa,
I have worked in a restaurant kitchen before.
I cant imagine what a nightmare it is to host a diplomatic dinner
for 150 people in a kitchen that small.

        March 15, 2012 at 12:19 pm |
  8. Sponge-Bob

The kitchen may be small but the selection is diverse, they can have whatever they want, whenever they want.

Some of these posts seem to miss the point, while the kitchen might be big enough to cook for more than an average family, but to cook a five course meal for a 150 it would probably be teeny, so folks just stop being petty!

Most people here are really missing the point about the kitchen. "no child left behind" I think a lot of you you were left behind, read the article and try to understand what she is saying. Logic! Sorry, I just get tired of petty and stupid.

The people leaving negative posts are not interested in what the first lady is trying to say. They just want to pick at anything they can and criticize everything. They don't support Obama and they will criticize everything he does no matter what it is. It's the Republican smear machine at it's worst working for the past 3 years and will not stop. They don't realize that the American people are tired of Republican BS and they will not put up with it anymore. Obama will be reelected and continue to work for the recovery of the country from the failed BUSH-Republican experiment that almost destroyed this country. OBAMA 2012

For crying out loud .. the president's wife was talking to a group of students, and answering questions from the students. She had no say in whether anyone would print an article about it!

Most people here use any story that has the name "Obama" in it
    to show off hatred.
These Repubs dont seem to understand, all they do is prove
how childish and petty they are.

The Obama's are a class act.
