Messina's got an offer for the Romney campaign

Obama campaign manager Jim Messina is making an offer Mitt Romney’s campaign is likely to refuse.

In a letter to Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades, and distributed to reporters by the Obama campaign, Messina writes that if the former Massachusetts governor releases five years of tax returns the Obama campaign will not ask for any more.

“[I]f the Governor will release five years of returns, I commit in turn that we will not criticize him for not releasing more–neither in ads nor in other public communications or commentary for the rest of the campaign.”
