"bb" , congress did not pass the jobs bills because they wanted Obama to fail.

If this had occured, we would have had an additional 1 million new jobs.

Americans are not stupid, they can see through the Republican lies.

the repubtards put over 30 job bills into play, all shot down by reed, pelosi and the gang of idiots, for god sakes quit making excuses for this jerk he is inept, He had it all going in and choked end of story, instead of working, went around apologizing for Americas history, all the college in world will not get u JOB if there are NONE to go to. Oblameo is a smooth speaker with a prompter, he will get eaten up on the debates. but i agree he is a great speaker, Willie (i cheat on my wife clinton) is better !!!!!!

You know Lionel, you have absolutely no idea whether that American Jobs Act would have created 1 million jobs or even 1 job. Remember the stimulus was supposed to keep unemployment under 8 percent. ACA was only going to cost 800 billion. Projections show that it will now cost 2.4 trillion. Just because the President says it is true does not make it so. I actually reviewed feedback about the Jobs Bill. On one hand it would possibly create jobs. However, it would also remove jobs.

Let me ask this question, have you read the bill or anything related to the bill? Or are you simply taking the President's word for it.

Who really cares about the President's speech. We already know he is a good speaker. However, actions, not words make great leaders. My primary concern are his actions during the past 3.5 years. Sorry, the actions don't support the words.

    Welcome back to Iowa!!

I would like Republicans to explain to me how that “Trickle Down Economics” are working today? It’s been what, 8 years now. If anyone needs to explain this JOBS NUMBER... I think it should be your GOP Political leaders. The GOP are the ones who have given us broken promises...

    September 7, 2012 at 1:57 pm |

Just like Oblunder point and blame. go ahead keep making excuses for the INEPT one , trickle works like this more jobs, more taxes, less debt, i love how dumbocraps blame the rich Who in good earths name do u think is backing Oblunder??? Why is it a crime to be successful, u hire people , u give them income and all u hear from dumbo craps is give me more, more, more. your boy has been in office for 4 years, yes 4 years and its getting worse. The dems controlled the house and senate for 2 yrs, he didnt work on jobs, oviously he didint care. but keep pointing and blaming thats what u all are good at !!!!

Thank you, well said and to the point.

The GOP leaders wants the keys to white house after running our economy into the ground. Don't give it back to them.

obama has been president for four years now....it has been his trickle up policies...dummie...that has not worked. Bush has retired from politics and is happy, healthy, and doing well in Texas...quietly doing educational work in Africa and elsewhere in the world...obama will be back in chicago soon profiteering from his short national political career.

You know Iowa, I think December stated it best when said that everyone is responsible. The problem was not created by the Republicans only. Why is it so many people have given a free ride to the Democrats role in the housing bubble. Barney Franks headed this committee and had been continuously warned what was coming. He chose to do nothing despite the warnings. Are Republicans to blame? Certainly they are. But the Democrats are not blameless. Unfortunately, too many people see these grey issues as straight black and white.

There is no secret to trickle down economics. Look and you will find that one of our greatest periods of economic growth, the 1980s, was followed what many economists have considered a worse economy than what we faced in the present. Unemployment hit a high of 10.4 percent and inflation was well over 13 percent. Forbes reported that economic growth in the 1980s was over 40 percent. The past 3.5 years only 4 percent. 1980 job creation averaged 350K per month. The past 3.5 years 150K per month. Job creation no longer keeps up with the population growth meaning unemployment will actually continue to rise. When businesses are given incentives, yes possible tax cuts, they grow and hire. When more people are employed, they buy products and pay taxes. The government does not have the capital to put everyone back to work. You can only repair so many roads and bridges at one time. More important, not every middle class unemployed worker is in construction.

Our economy was built on small businesses. People who run small businesses are not the evil greedy rich people they have been portrayed to be. They want nothing better than to grow and hire. The problem is that our government has gone completely in the other direction and created too many regulations. This reduces incentives to start businesses or hire. Too many regulations has yielded too much uncertainty. Joe Biden said it best stating intent to put businesses back in chains. Who wants to build a business with threats like that? Our government needs to support small businesses and help them grow. Not threaten them.

So, you can blame the Republicans for all the evils in the world or take some time and research ALL of the causes to the recession.

    • november2012

Our culture does not appreciate small business owners as it used to be...we now believe there is no heroics in being a business person. We have a neighbor who just retired from the federal govt after 30 years at age 55, his pension is $5700 per month for the duration of his life and he has COLA. This man was sequestered in a back office role for his last 5 years due to poor performance and alcoholism.. his reward for a lackluster career is a net worth at retirement of over $2,000,000. Yet, obama finds no problem with vilifying a successful small business owner if he is successful...this is horrible.

Remember, the nations debt of $16,000,000,000.00 of which $11,000,000,000.00 is social security, federal pensions, and military pensions. obama has refused to touch these programs...and they will be affected, everyone knows this or we will not have a country. This practice of politicians buying votes through these programs is over.

Your statement reminds me of the New York hot dog vendor during the Occupy Wall Street protests. Tipped over his cart when he stopped giving free food. That cart was his small business. This poor guy was certainly not evil or greedy.

i didnt know that but it doesnt suprise me, Queston ?? If Bush was so crappy how do you rate Oblunder, since every dem 1st response is Bush, Bush, Bush. Why do they consistantly compare him to Bush ??? Birds Of a feather ????
I mean, i dont get it. and for the millonith time it was the senate by-laws for underwritng criteria and the nafta act that killed the economy and that was b-4 Bush. The thing that gets me about Bush === he did nothing about it. Slick Willie installed both those and yes both houses voted it in.

CARAMON, CAN YOU STATE WHAT NEW REGULATIONS UNDER OBAMA THAT HAS IMPEDED SMALL BUSINESSES AND EXPLAIN HOW THAT ACTUALLY IS THE CASE? TRY NOT TO MIX FEDERAL WITH LOCAL REGULATIONS PLEASE. IT'S BAD ENOUGH THAT SOME MAYORS AND GOVERNORS LOVE TO TOUT THEIR RECORDS WITH TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE HELP THEY RECEIVED FROM THE FEDS. ALSO IF YOU ARE GOING TO CITE JOE BIDEN, TRY TO GET IT RIGHT. IT'S NOT THAT HARD, IT'S BEEN ALL OVER THE NEWS. AND TRY NOT TO CONFUSE THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRY WITH SMALL BUSINESSES. THE BIG BANKS HARDLY NEED YOU TO DEFEND THEM.

AND SERIOUSLY, YOU WANT TO BRING UP SOME THUGS IN AN OCCUPY WALL STREET DEMONSTRATION IN YOUR DEFENSE OF SMALL BUSINESS? WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO PEACEFULLY DEMONSTRATED? ARE THEY GUILTY TOO? I THOUGHT YOU HAVE MORE SENSE THAN THAT.

BUSINESS PEOPLE HAVE GIVEN THE EXCUSE OF UNCERTAINTY FOR THE REASON WHY THEY ARE NOT HIRING. I'VE GOT NEWS FOR THEM. THERE IS ALWAYS UNCERTAINTY! PEOPLE TAKE TREMENDOUS RISKS EVERY TIME IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS A COUNTRY MORE PROSPEROUS FOR THEMSELVES AND FOR THE PEOPLE THEY HIRE. SO TO COME UP WITH THE EXCUSE THAT THE PRESIDENT'S POLICIES IS ADVERSELY AFFECTING BUSINESS DURING A DOWNTURN OR IN THIS CASE A SLOWDOWN IS DOWNRIGHT HYPOCRISY BECAUSE THESE ARE THE SAME FOLKS WHO WILL SAY THE PRESIDENT HAS LITTLE TO DO WITH IT DURING PROSPEROUS TIMES.

THE PRESIDENT CAN GIVE YOU A VISION. IF YOU BELIEVE IN IT THEN YOU WORK AT IT. WHILE THERE IS TREMENDOUS POWER HELD BY THE GOVERNMENT IN WASHINGTON DC, THEY CANNOT DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU. IF YOU DO NOT WANT MORE GOVERNMENT IN YOUR LIFE THEN LIVE IT THAT WAY FOR YOURSELF BUT REMEMBER THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS COMPRISED OF ALL OF US. WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE OUR GOVERNMENT AND WHAT LEVEL OF INVOLVEMENT MAY SEEM RIGHT TO YOU MAY NOT BE AS TRUE FOR YOUR FELLOW CITIZENS. SMALL BUSINESSES ARE THE SAME WAY, SOME MAY THRIVE ON THEIR OWN WHILE SOME MAY NEED HELP ALONG THE WAY. IF YOU ARE GOING TO ACCUSE OBAMA OF ANYTHING, IT SHOULD BE NOT OF HOSTILITY FOR SMALL BUSINESSES BUT TO THOSE AT THE VERY TOP OF THE PYRAMID WHO REFUSE TO PLAY BY THE SAME SET OF RULES AND HAVE GAMED THE SYSTEM TO EVERYONE'S DETRIMENT. I SIMPLY DO NOT SEE WHERE YOU CAN MAKE THE CASE WHEN SOME OF THE MOST ROBUST SOURCES OF JOB GROWTH THESE PAST FEW YEARS ARE FROM SMALL BUSINESSES.

White House Misses Deadline Outlining Defense Cuts, White House press secretary Jay Carney today said White House officials would hand in their assignment next week. One month ago, the president signed the “Sequestration Transparency Act,” a law that imposed upon him a 30 day deadline to outline what Pentagon spending will be cut. That deadline was last night.

It is called States Rights. What is good for one state is not good for others. Just because people in Hawaii think it is a good idea to teach surfing does not mean that people in Kansas should.

YOU DON'T THINK THE REST OF THE COUNTRY IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR UNIVERSAL HEATHCARE? LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT, IF ROMNEY WAS ABLE TO PULL IT OFF FIRST AS A GOVERNOR AND IT IS A SUCCESS YOU DON'T THINK HE WILL TRY TO PULL IT OFF ON A NATIONAL LEVEL? YOU DO KNOW THAT HEALTH CARE IS A PROBLEM THAT THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IS DEALING WITH, RIGHT? THAT TELLS ME MORE ABOUT HOW COWARDLY A POLITICIAN CAN GET MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE. IF MITT ROMNEY RUNS AWAY FROM HIS ACCOMPLISHMENT BECAUSE IT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD POLITICALLY THEN HE IS NO BETTER THAN OBAMA WHOM HE ACCUSES OF RUNNING AWAY FROM HIS OWN RECORD.

Lionel, Obama's speech at the convention was his same old rhetoric. Nothing new. I find Joe much more interesting. At least he changes his speeches. Obama used the "tax cuts to cure everything" joke for four days... It wasn't funny the first time, it is not funny now. And factually incorrect.
