And why must he go to Michigan? There is no good reason for this, campaign is over, he won, should be in DC negotiating not out lecturing.

It's Obama's last chance to tell suffering Americans how good our economy is ... before he takes his family on a four million dollar vacation ... paid for by us struggling tax payers.

      • jean2009

Believe me Howard it won't be his last time.....just think you can explain it to yourself 4 years from now...when another Democrat graces the oval office.

        December 10, 2012 at 2:30 pm |
      • Howard

Jean ... for me, it's not about democrats vs. republicans ... it's about America ... and using the power of office to gorge yourself at the public trough ... while those who elected you are struggling. I would denounce someone from either party who acted in this way. You, on the other hand, continually, and predictably, express blind devotion to obama, no matter what he does. I suppose you will respond to my post, by insulting me, or telling me to move to Canada ... but, I've served in our country's military, contributed my time to community, paid taxes for 50 years, raised children and grandchildren ... and, I deserve to live here, defend our constitution ... and, oppose all who threaten America ... or, help those who threaten America ... and, that includes you, and the other obama stooges, who walk in lock step on these blogs !!!

        December 11, 2012 at 1:35 pm |
      • jean2009

Howard: I didn't tell you to move to Canada, in a fit of picque you stated that you were moving to Canada because your candidate lost. Which makes you a whiner and a sore loser...plus, I just enjoy ribbing people!

And now, let's talk about who is gorging oneself at the "Public Trough"...of all the people gorging I doubt very much the President (any President) who is under the continual scrutiny of the press, is probably the one least likely to be gorging at that trough.

All presidents have taken vacations. Heck statistics wise the last one lived on vacation. A president's security (our responsibility) is a necessity...and the cost for that is present regardless of where the president is going, or staying.
And I didn't see your idiotic rants about this during the last administration...and you know that....and frankly your rantings have nothing to do with the constitution, or what or where you served....and you know that too.

Fact is: you are not paying for the first family's vacation! They are paying for that, and you and me are paying for the security for him and his family to get there, have their vacation, and get back safely. If you don't like that arrangement
(which is not going to change regardless of all your silly whining)...you know that too. All I can say is: sorry about your dumb luck! So knock yourself out at by making an even bigger fool of yourself.

CHINA BOUGHT IT BECAUSE IT IS APPARENTLY VALUABLE ENOUGH. TOO BAD AMERICANS CAN'T SEE IT THAT WAY. WHEN CHINA STARTS DOMINATING US WITH TECHNOLOGY WE USED TO OWN WE CAN ONLY LOOK BACK AT OUR FAILURE TO BACK GREEN ENERGY ENOUGH TO KEEP IT HERE.

This whole thing is to destry the party system in America and leave a one party system. The democratic party was hijcaked by the communist progressive party. No Obama wants a blank check without congresssional approval to spwn this country in oblivion just like everyother dictator in history.
RIP america the great american sheep were the ones that slit your throat.

President Teddy Roosevelt was a Progressive in the end. He founded the movement. Maybe you should read up on the subject.

      December 11, 2012 at 5:23 pm |
    • Caramon

True Cynthia, I believe Teddy was considered the first progressive.

      December 11, 2012 at 5:27 pm |

Teddy Roosevelt couldn't get on the ballot as a Republican today. well to be honest he couldn't have gotten on the ticket after Harding.

58% approval rating for Obama. Do these "58%" understand what is going on in this country? I assume they continue to blame Bush.
The next 4 years are going to be painful for all working Americans. Ask anyone who owns a small business what they are doing to get ready for the upcoming year. Also, ask them how the tax they are about to get hit with will be paid. The answer I keep getting is "it will be passed on to our customers".
One more thing – for several years now we have heard from dumb lib leaders how "the Bush tax cuts were only fo rthe rich". If the libs you follow blindly were telling you dumb libs the truth why is it such a big deal to just let all of the Bush tax cuts expire? The truth is the Bush tax cuts that the libs have bashed for years helped everyone.

    • jean2009

Even Colin Powell said we could blame Bush....Didn't he tell Bush if he broke it he would own it.

      • Dan

Ive read your post, Have you ever had any of your own thoughts?? Its sad to say you are the new norm. No real thinking , just a trained like a pet. Its a pity, you cant think for yourself.

        December 10, 2012 at 4:37 pm |
      • jean2009

Dan – When I was growing up, we learned you didn't blame what one person did on the person who came by later and who is helping clean up the mess. Only Fox's trained Rush regurgitating lunatics like you and John don't seem to understand that history is prologue...nothing happens in a bubble. The mess we have today is based solely on past mistakes from the Bush era.

The only problem here, is you can't accept you lost twice and by a wide margin, and by so losing you know that the Bush era mistakes will be a permanent record of his failed presidency. It took 11 years and WWII to start digging out of the Harding, Coolidge, Hoover mess and it very well could take that long to dig out of this one. Those are the facts of life whether you like it,or not.

President Obama has a mandate, 60% of people say he has a mandate, and also say he is taking the right course....frankly any course that is not based on the GOP course is probably the best bet for being the right course.

Your coming on here telling people they don't know what they are talking about,or referring to them as bitter people only reinforces the image of you being the one with the serious problem of being a ranting fool who needs enlightenment

        December 11, 2012 at 12:06 pm |
      • Caramon

Jean, according to the latest Gallup, 70 percent of the populace want compromise not mandate. Also according to Gallup the President's approval on dealing with the fiscal cliff is 52-43, the Democratic leaders 39-49 and the Republicans is 27-63. That was from one week ago. You are right, Republicans are taking the biggest hit. But Democratic approval is also low. I believe that most people, including me, believe the Republicans will need to concede on increasing taxes. Both sides need to come up with cuts to have any meaning.

        December 11, 2012 at 2:44 pm |
      • jean2009

Caramon compromise is fine....but what the GOP wants is the capitulation to serious and damaging cuts to SS & Medicare, and that is not going to happen.

        December 11, 2012 at 3:18 pm |
      • Caramon

President Obama has a mandate, 60% of people say he has a mandate.

This is little like saying the other 40 percent don't matter. As President, he will need to consider those who say he has a mandate and those that don't.

        December 11, 2012 at 3:21 pm |
      • jean2009

Caramon I'm sure he will consider everyone...but that doesn't mean the majority shouldn't rule. As long as he is POed the GOP he is probably doing something right, and he actually couldn't do worse than their 8 year mess.

        December 11, 2012 at 3:30 pm |
      • Caramon

Caramon compromise is fine....but what the GOP wants is the capitulation to serious and damaging cuts to SS & Medicare, and that is not going to happen.

I have an honest question Jean. Wasn't the President supposed to come up with the expense cuts while the Republicans provide revenue increases? Or has he come up with cuts and the Republicans want different cuts? The news is a little foggy when it comes to who is providing the budget cuts. Maybe you know.

It is pretty simple, really. Obama does not want his fingerprints on this Legislation. He wants you to hang yourself. Most likely there will be another Continuing Resolution. They may as well make it for 2 more years because there aren't enough votes in the house and probably the senate either. Maybe the votes will be there in 2 years but I doubt it.

I certainly wouldn't count on that ...I think the electorate finally has the GOP's number, and I don't think they can repackage "rotten to the core, and harmful to working people".....and make it pass the smell test

He knows he won, I know he won, it is the GOP who doesn't seem to want to admit he won.

Maybe you should research back in October 2006: Though Not On the Ballot, Bush Campaigns Like a Candidate in Georgia and Texas. Now, who was campaigning in 2006 which was two years before the 2008 election?

IT HAS TAKEN MANY YEARS BECAUSE OF A RECESSION WE INFLICTED ON OURSELVES. A 'REAL' RECOVERY YOU ARE PRETENDING TO KNOW IS NOTHING MORE THAN THE NEXT BUBBLE TO BURST. IT TAKES A WHILE TO RECOVER FROM THIS MESS AND IT TAKES EVEN LONGER WHEN YOU HAVE TO DRAG REPUBLITARDS KICKING AND SCREAMING OUT OF IT. PERHAPS THE GRAVE IS THEIR BEST SUITED DESTINATION.

let's just cut out all discretionary spending which is 18% of the budget and we can fix this problem....oh, and then, let's cut about 5% of the budget out of defense....then we are on the road to success. We far outspend any other country on defense, This government is a JOKE.

    December 11, 2012 at 9:25 pm |
    • jean2009

Close some of the 750 military bases around the world...where we are paying people we defend for being there...don't build tanks the military doesn't want. Just because they are in Boehner's backyard doesn't mean we should pay for tanks we don't need and don't want. Charge more for the use of federal land, stop tax write offs for big corporations who are doing well without our slop trough of government benefits for them. We outspend every country on the planet for defense at an unsustainable cost to the welfare of our own citizens, and our own future.

December, if we are offensive to most people, why do WE control the House, the governors, and how did Romney win 49% of the vote. Like it or not, this is a divided country.

    December 12, 2012 at 1:43 pm |
    • jean2009

      Romney didn't win 49% of the vote. The President won 50.95% of the popular vote; Mitt Romney won 47.31% of the vote;
Gary Johnson 0.99% of the vote; Jill Stein 0.36% of the vote;Virgil Goode 0.09% of the vote; Roseanne Barr 0.05% of the vote; Rocky Anderson 0.03% of the vote; and Tom Hoefling 0.03% of the vote. Or, 0.17% of the vote went to people other than the President, and Romney.....and some of them were more liberal than the President.

So don't claim Romney won a 49% vote he didn't..... it was 47.31% to the President's 50.95% or Romney was 3.64% short. source wiki

I am a Republican. My guy lost and your guy won so let's move past that. There is a crisis in our country and the president of America is campaigning in Michigan, Please tell him he won, and can go back to work now. Massaging the union people of Michigan instead of advocating for the entire country by being at work won't help a majority of Americans. And Jean, yes President Obama won by your 3% but 57 million plus other Americans voted against him, and whether you agree or not that is a vast number of concerned Americans. We lost and you won so now can we fix this mess, or are we just going to continue to pander and campaign.

Self esteem is your own personal view of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Everyone has a different view of themselves, but keeping a positive outlook will benefit you more than a negative one. Many individuals suffer from low self esteem for a variety of reasons and need to build their self esteem in order to succeed in life. Remember, the only one who can make you excel is you and no one else. The same goes for self esteem. The only person who can build up?or consequentially tear down?your self esteem is you. Although other individuals may aide the process, the end decision is yours.-
