POTUS's Tuesday: More closed-door meetings

As the news continues to be centered on the tragedy in Connecticut and the looming fiscal cliff, President Obama will spend another day at the White House with no public events. We'll wait to see if another unannounced meeting with Speaker Boehner is in the works, or possibly just more behind the scenes conversations. The only meeting on the president's schedule today is a closed-door meeting with Secretary of Defense Panetta. We'll hear from the White House during the 12:30p briefing with press secretary Jay Carney.

Here is the schedule, as released by the White House:

10:15AM THE PRESIDENT receives the Presidential Daily Briefing

Oval Office (Closed Press)

4:35PM THE PRESIDENT meets with Secretary of Defense Panetta

Oval Office (Closed Press)

Briefing Schedule

12:30PM Press Briefing by Press Secretary Jay Carney

I'd rather have him work on it than be on the road wasting time and campaigning.

ONE OF THE REASONS WHY REPUBLITARDS KEPT LOSING LEFT AND RIGHT IS BECAUSE THEY STOPPED TALKING TO THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR THEM. THE TERM 'OUT OF TOUCH' COMES TO MIND.

      • John

You do understand Romney took almost half the vote with hundreds of white male voters not voting – right?
Any lib dem who totally blames the other side is part of the problem. Both sides are screwing the American working people right now.
BTW, if Romney were elected we could have had a real solution instead of more of the same from Washington.

        December 19, 2012 at 8:49 am |
      • December 2012

YOU DO REALIZE HE TOOK THE SAME MAJORITY OF WHITE VOTE THAT GEORGE H.W. BUSH DID WHEN HE TOOK OVER 400 ELECTORAL VOTES, RIGHT? PERHAPS IT IS TIME TO STOP JUST CONSIDERING THE 'WHITE' VOTE.

LIBS AT LEAST ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY. NOBODY IS SAYING THEY ARE PERFECT BUT ON MANY ISSUES, THEY HAVE THE MAJORITY.

IF ROMNEY WAS ELECTED? GIVE IT A REST. THE GUY HAD NO CLUE TO RUN A CAMPAIGN, MUCH LESS A COUNTRY.

        December 19, 2012 at 9:24 am |
      • jean2009

        @JOHN
No Romney did not win almost half the vote, it was not even close. The president won 50.96% of the popular vote and Romney won 47.28%, 332 electoral votes to 206 is not close, 65,600,425 to 60,861,683 is not close.

The remaining percentage points and votes went to the six other candidates running for president, and some of them were further to the left than the president...in other words those voters thought the president was too conservative.

And seriously ALMOST doesn't count...buck up and quit whining!

        December 19, 2012 at 12:00 pm |
      • John

Not whining, just stating a fact. Romney was better suited for the job that needed to be done. It is being proven now. Two thousand dollars more in taxes for a working, middle class stiff like me, (and many others) will be a hardship. And these losers in Washington could care less because they just keep getting reelected by shills like you.
Just so you know, I did not vote for even one incumbant.
Libs can say what they want, but Obama is supposed to be the leader of this country. When we go off the cliff it is his fault for making everything, including this mess, another Obama "crisis situation".
Billions and billions in Obamacare taxes aren't enough I guess.

        December 19, 2012 at 1:15 pm |
      • jean2009

@John Romney wasn't suited for anything but being funded by a bunch of out-of-touch right-wing hogs at the trough. He would have been a self-centered disaster. Boy am I glad we dodged that one!

There is a difference between outside communication and campaigning- a HUGE difference

    December 18, 2012 at 10:00 pm |
    • DEcember 2012

AND BECAUSE YOU THINK THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IS WHY YOU LOSE.

      PLUS, YOU ARE NUTS.

      December 19, 2012 at 8:28 am |
      • Dan B

I ain't gonna lose any sleep over you calling me crazy... The crazy calling people crazy. And you see no difference. You can present your plan in a realistic manner with mild but fair criticism to the opposition- communication. Campaigning is consistently and unfairly attacking your opposition often with lies to gain support for you and your plans which may not fully be defined.

        December 19, 2012 at 3:56 pm |
      • DEcember 2012

FIRST OF ALL, THE PRESIDENT SPOKE TO ALL KINDS OF AUDIENCES DURING THESE FISCAL CLIFF TALKS, YET YOU CALLED IT 'CAMPAIGNING.' SO I SAY TO YOU THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BASED ON YOUR OWN WARPED REALITY.

IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE THAT SIMPLE FACT THEN YOU ARE NUTS, AND NO, THAT'S NOT ME BEING CRAZY.

HEY SQUIRAL,WHO ELSE IS NUTS , YOU BURY THEM AND FORGET WHERE THEY ARE,THEN BLAME OTHERS FOR THE NUTS YOU LOST. JUST LIKE OB,WHO SAID HIS GANG WOULD BE TRANSPARANT AND THEN STAYS IN THE
CLOSET AND YET HE IS TRANPAREANT? HE MUST BE A SUPER HERO AKA THE INVISABLE MAN RIGHT? HE ONLY
MAKES PROMISES FOR VOTES AND MONEY,AND THE TAX PAYER PAYS FOR HIS LIES.

        December 22, 2012 at 12:21 pm |
    • jean2009

Maybe you should take it up with Romney..Since he lost. it must have been that he both bungled your communication during his campaigning.

The President is doing his job, which is caring for the needs of the American people..whenever, wherever, and in whatever capacity he is needed.

Time to move on and quit whining...being a sore loser is unbecoming.

      December 19, 2012 at 8:46 am |
      • Dan B

What are you talking about? Who mentioned Romney? I don't know where you came up with that. I was quite adamant about moving on. It is you who brings the election back.

        December 19, 2012 at 3:58 pm |
      • jean2009

Dan The campaign is over...it has been over for a good month and a half....you obviously lost. I don't know, maybe you haven't figured that one out yet, but the fact is your straw man lost.

The president is no longer campaigning he is supposed to convey his plans for the future to Americans, he is supposed to go places to talk with Americans, and support and comfort Americans in their time of need.

For you to play ignorant of these facts, and to keep muttering about the president campaigning is less than intelligent... it is weird. Since you keep saying the word campaigning when the election is over, May I ask what you are talking about? Or, do you know?

Everyone seems to have moved on except for you and few others on here.

We elect the president by electoral votes in this country. Don't like it then change it.

    December 20, 2012 at 1:21 pm |
    • jean2009

The president won by a handy majority on both counts electoral and popular vote.

VOTE FOR HIM. THEN TURN AROUND AND THEN PUT A TAX ON THEM FOR OWNING STOLEN GOODS. A GOOD CON
