I am not understanding this blog anymore. Used to be lively and serious here. Now the best we get is a schedule and not much of one at that. We should have had the opportunity to dissect the Middle East or something meaty! This is pitiful!

I am a little surprised there was nothing about the trip to Israel. Even Charles Krauthammer said the trip was successful.

        Caramon,

Almost like an old Arizona western ghost town around here anymore! As far as the trip to the Middle-East being a success, that is good to hear! Just wonder why it took 5 years for him to get there!

Why is it so hard to realize when all you see is constant whining about off topic stuff? People here can't even whine about something that's actually relevant to a conversation. I think CNN is getting sick of it and frankly, I don't blame them.

        December,

Why would CNN get tired of folks who get off topic? All they need to do is host and moderate (when required). Let the conversation go where it goes. Most of us know how to reel people back in. It just takes a good question or statement!

Steveo et.al.–bone up on the recent Anti-American laws that were recently passed in a knee-jerk fashion in Colorado through agendas pushed by out of state interests...apparently The Great One is coming back to our once "fly-over" state (on his way to his quarterly Hawiaan vactions) to espouse more of the same. IF this blog has the ba!!s to report it in any sort of objective way, it could finally make for some decent conversation, as this legislation was seen as a bellweather for the rest of the country.

Forgot to say hi back to my favorite Republicans Caramon and steveo. It's been a while and no, I don't think starting more meaningful conversations off some dumb posts is such a bad thing. Thank god for small favors and no, we don't need no stinking moderators.

It appears Obama is playing to "his base" once again. This administration is totally lost.

    March 27, 2013 at 8:44 am |
    • DEcember 2012

His 'base'? You mean Hispanics? It's only his 'base' because Republicans have, well, treated them like crap to say the least.

In any case, the Hispanics are not anyone's base. At one point in time, they were just fine with Republicans.

      • John

I mean "illegals" and the far left. Also, if you want to respond with an argument about how "illegals contribute to society", please remember to include the illegal criminals who have killed people and committed other crimes. Or are you just going to tell me "these are killing that Americans didn't want to do"? To fix this problem first the borders need to be secured. Until that actually happens this issue should be tabled.

And, your other post? Illegals were let go BEFOR THE SEQUESTER, as well as after. How do you explain illegals being let go before.

        March 27, 2013 at 1:18 pm |
      • DEcember 2012

Immigration reform is not just about the illegals, it is about fixing the whole system that a) failed to punish those who exploited illegal immigration and b) fails to do anything for both legal and illegal immigrants who are productive members of our society.

The Obama Administration has been the most aggressive in dealing with the criminal elements among illegals, a fact you painfully ignore. It has done more to prosecute and deport illegals with criminal backgrounds than any previous administration. Enforcement is not the issue, the issue is money. Just how much do you think it costs us to do all this? Since you are a self proclaimed deficit hawk, do you think policy is tenable? No, it needs to be smarter and it needs to be comprehensive. We are not only having problems with immigrants we don't want, we are also having problems acquiring those we want to have. This needs to be fixed and if the President has to stump on every state to do it, so be it.

      • John

Maybe you are not old enough to remember, but history is repeating itself. Go read about 1990. That "Act" created a so called "temporary amnesty program" where 165,000 were amnestied. Does this sound familiar to you? It was the big immigration fix that fixed nothing and you dumb libs are about to do it again. The 1990 act was touted as "Restoring Credibility".
I noticed you totally ignored my point about criminal illegals and you simply repeated the dem party line of "we have deported bla, bla, bla. Lets look at the one we absolutely know about – Obama uncle. He is a illegal who was caught drunk driving. When he was caught somehow he has a SS Card and a MA Drivers License. He went to court and he is now working in a liquor store in MA. Why wasn't he deported IYO? How about the illegal who just won the lottery in MA? Should he be able to collect it IYO?
You libs are fools if you really think immigration under Obama isn't about making illegals in this country "legal", as well as their family members who are not here yet.
WHat you ignore is this. If Obama and this administration wanted to fix the problem it is as easy as securing the border. Instead, this administration does stupid things like releasing illegal criminals and

        March 27, 2013 at 2:44 pm |
      • DEcember 2012

There is more to comprehensive immigration reform than some form of amnesty. When Reagan did it, he failed to pursue those who would exploit it, those who employed illegals for criminal wages. That is why comprehensive reform is needed to prevent such loopholes and exploits of our immigration system. No longer will we say it is okay to demonize illegals for using social programs and then turn around by exploiting them as cheap labor for capitalism. You can no longer have it both ways. We need to couple this by not making immigration so damn hard and expensive for people who want to come here and start a productive life.

I don't really know what your point is about these anecdotes of a people drunk driving or winning the lottery. Just with everything else, there are some who fall through the cracks. That doesn't invalidate the thousands that have been deported for much more serious offenses. It comes down to money, if the guy wins the lottery then he will have to pay taxes. A lot of taxes!

Part of immigration reform should be stringent and measurably better border security. I would suggest Congress to pour more spending into this as they draw down some military spending.

        March 27, 2013 at 3:10 pm |
      • John

Several things December – First and formost, nothing should be done with immigration reform UNTIL THE BORDERS ARE SECURE!!. It is time to get serious and move military bases from overseas to border towns. This will not cost a dime, as I saw your solution was more money is needed. Typical lib response.
My point about Obama's illeagal uncle? You can't be that stupid to think the FACT that Obama's illegal, criminal uncle who was caught drunk driving with a US SS # and MA License is "anecdotal". iT IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE AND YOU KNOW IT. YOU ALSO SHOULD KNOW HE WASN'T DEPORTED. My simple question to you is why? He is a criminal illegal that EVERYONE IS AWARE IS IN THE COUNTRY!!! HE DID NOT FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS!! Why is he in this country?

        March 29, 2013 at 10:40 am |
      • DEcember 2012

By all means John, go protect the entire border on your own and we won't pay you a single dime. What's that? Nobody is volunteering to do it with you? It takes more spending? So when I said draw down some military spending to do more border security, that's basically what you are repeating. It takes spending to get things done. Capitalism, go figure.

I don't know why you are fixated on Obama's uncle but the last I heard he is facing deportation hearings. Time for you to cry uncle instead of crying wolf.

        March 31, 2013 at 1:48 pm |
      • John

December, Let me educate you on critical thinking. When someone lies to you and says "we are deporting bla, bla, bla" you need to verify. I simply looked at the most obvious criminal illegal THAT EVERY AMERICAN KNOWS ABOUT, INCLUDING YOU. Then I review how that situation was handled to provide me with a true understanding of how we are handling CRIMINAL ILLEGALS.
SO again I ask, why is this criminal illegal still in this country? And, let me add this question for thought. We know Obama's uncle has potential of driving drunk and killing someone because he was already caught drunk driving. If he does it again and kills someone who is responsible? Will you take any responsibility?
WHat makes you think the party line you spew is true WHEN YOU HAVE FACTS LIKE WE HAVE WITH OBAMA'S ILLEGAL UNCLE?
Are you saying because Obama hasn't done the job of securing the border it doesn't need to be done? Or, it can't be done? Because Obama doesn't want to do his job and secure the border you are telling me to do it instead of calling out your fearless leader for not doing the job?? Typical lib response. What excuse do you have for Obama not doing the job that needs to be done with the border? Bush?
You keep spewing nonsense lib lines about the sequester. You are so off base because of you lib bias you do not seem to understand the libs you follow blindly have lied to you and are intentially trying to hurt Americans as a "teaching moment". But, unlike you, most libs are catching on to Obama's lies and are finally seeing him for what he is.

        April 1, 2013 at 7:10 am |
      • December 2012

So you cited two examples and already one of them, Mr. Obama, is being served for deportation. Compare that to thousands that were deported by this administration, most of whom have far more severe criminal records, many of whom have served time in our overcrowded prisons. Just admit it, you are grasping at straws and found it convenient to nitpick on a relative of Obama because of your ridiculous hatred for our President. Too bad it doesn't make any sense when the guy is already being processed for deportation. Get a grip.

        April 1, 2013 at 3:15 pm |
      • DEcember 2012

Here's another thing you probably have no idea about, even if you are able to secure our borders so nobody can illegally cross over, that still will not stop illegal immigration. Think about it.

        April 1, 2013 at 5:15 pm |
      • John

Illegals deported under Obama 1.2 million.
Illegals deported under Bush 1.57 million.
December, we only know how many illegals are caught and are deported. Nobody knows how many come in and out every day. That is problem # 1 that you libs seem to ignore. That is the issue that needs to be addressed for anything else to work.
Apparently the election had something to do with deportations under Obama because the Transactions Access Clearinghouse, i.e. TRAC, has reported that between October and December of 2011 deportations fell by 33% from the previous quarter and has remained steady.
Do you really think America is not able to secure our borders if that is what we really wanted to do? You really think this country and the resources we have in place can't stop the 1000-2000 illegals who cross the border every single day?
Again you ignored the fact that Obama's illegal uncle who was caught drunk driving with a SS Card and MA License. Do you understand that drunk drivers kill people on a daily basis? If yes, you should understand that drunk driving IS A SERIOUS OFFENSE. Let me ask you again in a way you may understand – why is the most famous criminal illegal allowed to stay in this country? And, given that we have NO DETAILS ON WHO THESE ILLEGALS ARE WHO ARE BEING DEPORTED AND ALSO BEING RELEASED TO AMERICAN STREETS what makes you think this administration is telling the truth WHEN THEY HAVEN'T TAKEN ANY ACTION ON THE MOST FAMOUS ILLEGAL CRIMINAL IN THE COUNTRY??

        April 2, 2013 at 7:03 am |
      • DEcember 2012

So you are saying deportations have slowed down but it seems like the Obama Administration is still has time to handily beat the previous administration's numbers on deportation. I'm not seeing a problem here.

Again with the Obama uncle. Implying that he could have killed someone while driving drunk has nothing to do with his immigration status. That could happen with just about any teenager born here because of horrible judgement. I would argue that if you look at the statistics, more citizens kill each other with vehicular accidents than any illegal immigrant can. Of course, you don't really care about that one bit as long as they are citizens, they can kill each other in stupid ways as much as they want. Talk about losing perspective.

As for Mr. Obama's immigration status, that is already being handled by deportation officials. For the umpteenth time.

Man, these Obamas must have kicked your dog so hard for you to be this bitter. It's sad man, let it go.

        April 2, 2013 at 11:46 pm |
      • John

Ok December, given that you do not understand that it is a problem and that one illegal drunk driver is no threat to anyone we will move on from Obama's uncle after I address your statement about his uncle. I agree, there has finally been a disposition hearing scheduled for his uncle – IN DECEMBER OF THIS YEAR and there is no doubt in my mind it will turn out the same as Obama's aunt, who is now living off of our dime in Cambridge MA.
How about the hundreds of illegal drunk drivers that have killed Americans? Do you think they a problem?
So let's talk about an illegal criminal who isn't Obama's uncle. I could speak about his aunt again, who was also illegal and living off of our dime, but given you think I have a personal vendetta against the Obama family – because I dare to question his poor decisions – I will pick a different illegal. Carlos Martinelly-Montano who was released as a result of Obama's "supervised release program" crashed his car into another vehicle, killing one nun and critically injuring two others.
I noticed you made some snide remark about Obama doing a good job because he deported more illegals than Bush. I assume you made that comment before reading the actual numbers – BECAUSE BUSH DEPORTED MORE ILLEGALS THAN OBAMA (to date).
Do you even know that only 43% of Americans actually support "a path to citizenship" for illegals who are in this country?
Here is new information for you.
It is estimated that illegals kill 25 Americans every day – 12 are murdered and 13 are killed in traffic violations.
Over 9,000 Americans are killed every year by illegals.
Over 60% of the gangs in Cali. are illegal. They (Cali) spens almost 1 billion annually just to incarcerate illegals. Illegals currently comprise 18% of prison inmates.
Each year illegals kill more than 3 times the amount of people killed on 9-11.

        April 3, 2013 at 7:33 am |
      • DEcember 2012

Round and round it goes. Listen, you can't seem to shake the fact that the process is working. Hey, if you want to hurry it along why don't you put your money where your mouth is. Processing illegals ain't cheap, so why don't you spend money on lawyers to hurry things along to your liking? I'm sure you will go far.

You can't seem to grasp the fact that the act of drunk driving is not exclusive to illegals, and have been caused and with greater fatalities by citizens of this great country of ours to their fellow citizens. Not to mention the fact that Mr. Obama didn't even kill anybody! His great crime is drunk driving with false IDs? I guess that makes him public enemy number one in your book? Good grief.

This is no longer about immigration anymore, illegal or otherwise. Just some crazy vendetta you have with the Obamas. Leave me out of it. Take your crazy somewhere else.

        April 3, 2013 at 12:37 pm |
      • John

December, try to deflect all you want. Let me direct you back to the issue we were discussing. We are talking about criminal illegals
Please explain to me, and the thousands of relatives that have been killed and mamed by illegals, what you mean by "the process is working"? Please explain to all of us how these dead Americans would have died IF THE ILLEGALS THAT KILLED THEM WERE NOT IN THE COUNTRY!! Are you really that ignorant to think these people would have died anyway? You accused me of having a lack of humanity for others. Where is yours for these AMERICANS WHO HAVE BEEN KILLED BY CRIMINAL ILLEGALS. Or is your sense of humanity limited to illegals?
Re-your comment about my family having illegals. Is that suppose to be an insult? So you are defending illegals and how we shoud allow illegals to stay here then you try to insult me by saying one of my family members "was most likely illegal"? LOL..
My family members spent tens of thousands of dollars helping my relatives, including my parents and grandparents, become citizens. If one of my relatives is/was here illegally they do not belong here and they should be deported, especially if they are a criminal illegal.

Illegals are sucking the welfare system dry, and they came illegally. they love their country more and want to retire in mexico in hope of getting social security over there. There is nothing wrong with sending them home, they like it there better, they are here for the welfare checks and benefits, other than that, they dont like it here

        April 10, 2013 at 3:42 am |
  4. Richard Long

Barack had a great strategy for immigration. Let them get caught by immigration officials and then release them because of 'budget cuts'. Hit the beach in the Bahamas and call it a day!

    March 27, 2013 at 9:21 am |
    • steveo

Perhaps if ICE releases illegals in Chicago, this administration would take this a bit more seriously! But since it was Arizona (home to Sen. McCain and Gov Brewer, who btw were both thorns in the side of this administration) it is no big deal. Other than in Arizona, I have not heard of any other releases! Anybody heard of any releases elsewhere?

      March 27, 2013 at 9:40 am |
    • DEcember 2012

Hilarious. So the rigorous enforcement of the past 4 years that led to capture and expulsion of illegals with criminal backgrounds meant nothing now that the reality of budget cuts come home to roost? It's strange because this current immigration policy has made South America a more dangerous place because the criminal elements have been dumped on them. Check out what's happening in Honduras.

You want a better immigration policy? Fix the old one, otherwise don't whine when you fail to pay for enforcing current broken policies.

      March 27, 2013 at 12:47 pm |

The only rigorus thing the bamman has done is spend the next 2 generations money. Fast and furious, ill close gitmo, my stimulus will put unemp @5.6%, its noy a tax, ins cost will go down, and last but not least Biden has a brain ???

        March 27, 2013 at 12:58 pm |
      • steveo

South America is a more dangerous place because we dumped South American criminal elements back on them rather than taking them here?

December, the administration could have cut low level, no risk "stuff" instead but they choose to go with that which was most public like ICE, like White House tours, like Border Patrol furloughs!

        Anyway welcome back!

        March 27, 2013 at 1:12 pm |
      • DEcember 2012

It's a fact steveo, whether you agree with it or not. There could be many reasons for this, the sudden influx of the criminal element that can no longer stay in our territory is now wreaking havoc in South America. That's just simple fact, and it doesn't matter how you and I feel about it. The Obama Administration has deported more illegals at a rate higher than previous administrations, this is one of its effects.

Everyone agrees the sequester is dumb but they all let it happen anyway. Now we are witnessing just how dumb it can get and somehow this is shocking? No, we reap what we sow.

        March 27, 2013 at 1:26 pm |
      • John

December. Obama tried to scare the American now you are doing the same. It is time to cut, cut and cut.
Isn;t the government spending more money next year than this one? Aren't we keeping the 2.2 billion dollar "free phone program"? These clowns in Washington have not begun to cut.
BTW, I didn't see where you gave credit to the repubs for making sure the government is funded for the next several months. Whay is that?

        March 27, 2013 at 1:46 pm |
      • John

Honduras has been a very bad place for some time now. The murder rate has been climbing for years. According to people in the know, it is because the gangs of Hunduras are growing and growing stronger, not because America is dumping illigals on them (as you try to elude to).

        March 27, 2013 at 1:49 pm |
      • steveo

December we don't need to let South American criminals, who come in illegally stay! How is it our fault crriminals conduct criminal activity in their own areas instead of ours?

Dec, we have to cut spending! Somebody or bodies were just too lazy and bent on making a poltical point rather than cut wisely! Perhaps, the administration should no have played this like a weak poker hand when they suggested the sequester! They tried to bluff the Congress and it did not work! At the same time all that "Gloom and Doom" has not panned out and I wonder if somebody is trying to make that happen via these high profile and public cuts rather than low risk cuts from "Stuff" that we don't need right now.

        March 27, 2013 at 2:00 pm |
      • DEcember 2012

The Obama Administration that has been deporting thousands of illegals with criminal backgrounds agree with you. So John, when you say gangs are growing stronger, that's because they are starting to gain more manpower and experience from the gangs that were deported from the U.S prison system. That's a fact. Even Fox News reports this correctly.

Steveo, I think it is a pretty sad commentary when you think the President and his administration bet on Congress to not fail avoiding sequestration and think it is such a bad thing. That just speaks to the resignation of many people, excluding those 12% morons who somehow approve of Congress, that think Congress is an utter failure. What was Obama thinking? Where does his optimism come from? He should really know better. So now we have to live with some really stupid ways of cutting spending because you think the President was naive. Of course, we won't see it all right away but when someone in Congress brings up more stupid cuts in the coming months, I will be playing the smallest violin for them.

        March 27, 2013 at 3:32 pm |
      • steveo

        December,
Where did the idea of sequester first start and why?

        March 27, 2013 at 4:14 pm |
      • DEcember 2012

The idea of sequester is not entirely new and it was used back in the late 80s. Just like then, Congress will pass something less painful eventually. It's not an entirely bad idea because it does force Congress to fix itself and come up with a sensible budget. Well it did, back in the 90s. This Congress does not really measure up to the Congress of the 90s.

        March 27, 2013 at 4:34 pm |
      • steveo

Sorry December. Perhaps my question waa not clear. I was asking about the current sequester. The Obama administration birthed the current sequester. In my opinion, it was made so painful in the hopes it would never pass the House. That was my reference to a weak poker hand. I still believe better, more thoughful and less public cuts could have and should have been made. Again, in my opinion, all these highly public cuts (White House tours, Border patrol furloughs, USDA meat inspectors, ICE) were produced to rile up the public. Why did we send $250B, F-16s and tanks to Eygpt? Why couldn't that wait or be reduced? I am very sure, there were other lower priority items that should have been targeted for cuts IF this was well thought out but it was not. That is my point.

        March 28, 2013 at 8:50 am |
      • John

December – why should we care about illegal criminals being deported back to their country after they entered our country illegally?
You libs just do not get it. Before any talks about immigration the border needs to be secured. You do not think it is a problem that our government thinks we have between 12 and 20 million illegals currently in this country? ANd, BTW, Obama still hasn't reached the number deported by Bush – he is about 25% short. He may exceed the total number by the end of his term, but as of now he has not.

        March 29, 2013 at 8:25 am |
      • DEcember 2012

You don't seem to understand simple cause and effect and no, I never asked you to care. I am not responsible for your sense of humanity, that's for you to decide on your own. The simple fact is, there is now greater enforcement of border security that the thugs are now forced to go back home and to other parts south of the border to wreak havoc. Should it continue, of course. We don't want criminals here any more than we should want them anywhere else but we are limited with what can be enforced by time, money and policy. The system is indeed broken and if you think we can secure our borders with our current policies, you are sorely mistaken. Not to mention, a whole lot of our immigration issues with these criminals have much to do with our war on drugs. Now there's a lot spending going nowhere fast. But sure, don't change anything.

You sound like if this country continues on the current path with illegals and border security that is enough. This is where you are totally wrong. Once you realize this the rest of your argument falls apart. This country can't waste much needed resources on illegals at the expense of Americans. That has been what is happening for decades and you libs totally ignore it.
One more thing. Because of some crazy idea in your head you think your "sense of humanity" is somehow above mine because you post on a blog that you care?? Typical lib thinking. Where is your sense of humanity for the Americans who have crimes committed against them by this criminal illegals?
Here is my guess. If both you and I were taken off this earth today more people in need would suffer with me gone than with you gone.
I will tell you again. Criminal illegals in this country SHOULD BE ALL SENT BACK TO THEIR COUNTRY AND NOT RELEASED BACK TO THE STREETS AS OBAMA IS DOING NOW!!. If money is truly the issue, I would gladly give up the 2.2 billion dollar free phone program in order to do the right thing with "illegals" i.e. not putting them back on the streets of this country.

You are a prime example of a non-thinker, the 'my way or the highway' and 'holier than thou' mentality that is ruining this country. You claim that illegals are a drain when this is simply not true of all illegals. Some of them are leading productive lives and are actually paying taxes. Some of them serve our military. Why do you think this is still being debated? It is not as black and white as you think, and for a guy who claims to be an independent you should know this already. This country was built by immigrants, you would be shocked to know just how many of them came here illegally throughout the years and had productive lives. Your idea of being American is simply false because it is never that clear cut, and never so simple.

By all means, bash me for being 'liberal' for all I care. I know for a fact that many conservatives of the same mind on this issue for various reasons.

        April 1, 2013 at 3:26 pm |
      • John

I call you a lib because that is what you are. I am not bashing I am simply stating a fact. If you take me calling you what you are (a lib) as bashing that is your issue to deal with.
You are the one who seems to be supporting letting illegals who are here become citizens without first securing our border and you accuse me of being a non-thinker? LOL... You can hold up those examples of illegals leading productive lives, but you never seem to mention illegals that have killed Americans or performed other unthinkable acts. If I need to deport some what you call "productive illegals" to make sure the killers, rapists, drunk drivers and the likes are also take off our streets I am all for it.
"This country was built on immigrants" – yes it was, but the majority and the best were not illegals – they were people like my parents and grandparents who waited years to earn the right to become citizens and didn't have to wait to be elected in to the WH to be proud of their country.

December, apparently you have officially lost it because you do not know the difference between illegals and Americans?
When you say to me "your idea of being American is simply false because it is never that clear cut, and never so simple". Let me make it simple for you – if you know someone who is in this country illegally THEY ARE NOT AMERICAN. Here you go – An American Citizen is someone born in the US, someone born outside the US to a US Citizen parent, or one who has naturalised or obtained a certificate of citizenship. That is it and IT IS THAT SIMPLE!!

John, if you go through your family history don't be surprised if there was an illegal somewhere in there. They came in here by the millions, and not just recently. America is what is it because of immigrants, legal or otherwise. Don't be so naive.

December, since you think criminal illegals helped build this country, please provide us a list of their "positive" accomplishments. Other than keeping prison guards working I can't really find any on the web and I surely do not see any positive accomplishments in the daily arrest records.
This country was build on legal immigrants. Given that we saw in one of your many posts that you really do not seem to know the difference between Americans and illegals I can understand why you think this country was built by illegals. You are wrong once again... You really need to stop listening to those Dem talking points.

I am actually glad that happened right in front of them. Now maybe they will get off of their butts and get serious about starting ANY immigration discussion with SECURITY first! btw why are we still paying to make Mexico aware of our food stamp program, especially when Mexico doesn't even have a food stamp program of it's own? Doesn't that entice people to jump fences? We are furloughing AMERICANS but are paying to educate a foreign government about an internal American social program. Why is that?

Again, reaping what you sow when it comes to inept Congress. If I were the President, I would make it as uncomfortable a choice they have made so they will not sit on their collective rumps. Obama is doing just that.

What is really too bad if the fact that Obama didn't want to lead in this area. He could have re-directed the billions of dollars being wasted in wasteful programs. He choice is instead to make the American people suffer as much as possible with petty things like WH Tours.

        April 1, 2013 at 7:27 am |
      • steveo

December, you are correct. We wanted and NEEDED cuts, but smart cuts. Too many folks in power failed because they were too busy trying to make political points rather than cut smartly. TSA warned of long lines in airport yet they "found" $50 million for new uniforms but towers will close? $1M for puppets but kids can't tour the White House? I could have done a better job than this. Why? My household runs on a budget! If I can't afford cable TV, it goes, I don't turn off the water to prop up the budget to keep cable TV! I am telling you, there are too many folks in DC, that could give a rat's furry behind about doing what right for this country!

Nice post Steveo, but libs will never understand it because one of their talking points is "we do not have a spending problem". You can blame whoever you want, it doesn't matter. You can blame Obama for all I care if that makes you feel better about it.

The sequester was never meant to solve anything, it was a deterrent which our morons in Congress bit hard on. All this arguing over what the sequester is doing is pointless. The only way forward is to replace the sequester with something that is sensible, like an actual budget.

        April 3, 2013 at 12:27 pm |

        December,

You are right about one thing. Blaming is pretty much useless but we do it because the adminstration takes no responsibiity for it. They blamed the Congresss and when that did not work, predicted gloom and doom and that is not working either!

You said: "The sequester was never meant to solve anything, it was a deterrent which our morons in Congress bit hard on"
Then way was it even brought up other than to try and embarrass the Congress? Since you used te word "moron", I will too.

Who was the "moron" that conjured this up from the start?

You say we need a budget and I agree but, we have not seen one from the left in 4-5 years! What ever happened to "paygo"? They create rules and don't even follow them. No wonder there is so much distrust! Honestly, to play chicken with the country like this is a disgrace!

Lastly, Placing blame where blame belongs is NOT putting a smile on my face, December. Why would this make me feel good? I am actually outraged about this nonsense! At the same time it does no good tosimply avoid the subject just becuase the Dems lead the way in this!

I am not happy they take NO responsibility for this even though this was their idea. I am not happy how they cannot cut low priority projects but instead use scare tactics on the public buy making this hurt more than it should. December, I do have a question for you... on what day of the year is the president required to present a proposed budget to congress.. has that deadline been met in the last 5 years? Congress even created an office to assiste the president in the creation of said budget. Has congress passed a budget every year since this president has taken office? They are required to do so by law.you know. Instead we have been living on a shoe string with out any direction. Sequestration makes little sense to any sane person.. but what it did do was jerk the leash of an out of control government.. It got their attention and it certainly got mine. Now it is a game of blame and shame... and there have been some real shenanganss pulled but the administration recently. You asked is it the duty of the administration to balance the budget.. My answer is yes they among others (the house and the senate) have that responsibiliy. The entire federal government must make the best use of our tax dollars that it can and that does not include aid to pakistan or egypt... no new uniforms for TSA and we dont need to know about the X_E_X life of some species that no one will ever see.

March 31, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) - Chicago police arrested 15 juveniles and two adults after a mob caused a large disturbance on Michigan and Chicago Saturday night.

Police say a large group of young people made their way down the Magnificent Mile and began fighting among themselves at 7:30 p.m.

Police responded quickly after the disturbance broke out, arresting a number of offenders in relation to the disturbance. The majority of them were juveniles.

There were no reported robberies, assaults or property damage related to the incident, according to police. However, witnesses say that some in the group scuffled with police.

The 17 arrested have been charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct.

"This was a planned attack," said community activist Andrew Holmes. "You had these many people down here and that many people just running from one side of the street, jumping on people on the east side, then they come back on the west side and jump on the people."

Holmes said that hundreds of teenagers took over the sidewalks on Chicago Ave., terrorizing shoppers.

"You had over 300-400 teens just walking the streets," Holmes said. "Some of the citizens just enjoying the nice day out. You had a lot of mob action going on, but I'm shocked by the amount of the women teenagers that were assaulting people."

Residents and shoppers expressed concern on Saturday night.

"The parents need to disciplining their children a lot more. That way, they wouldn't have come out into the streets like this, I think it's just absolutely ridiculous," said Derek Burns.

"I think it's horrible," said Doreen Cohen. "I don't understand why this keeps happening, I really don't."

Both are important. I love our veterans and am so glad to be in this country, but there are other issues facing the nation. There need to be people in Congress working on veteran's affairs along with the secretary, but there is a lot facing the nation right now.

To me its pretty obvious.. butI need to ask you this Marie... Which ones are more important... Is it more important for a person that has entered this country lleagally to find employment and opportunity or a returning veteran... This is the crux of the matter to me.. MORE attention is being paid to people that came to this country like a thief in the night than the people that put their lives on the line for people like you....

You say you love them ... How Much Marie???? Show them how much!

OF COURSE VETERANS ARE IMPORTANT. We should be spending more on them! But my point was that 1 issue doesn't dominate everything- there are many things that this country faces. What would you like me to do for them- I donate to Wounded Warriors, I do volunteer work for veterans because I am proud of them. But that is like saying we have a war and a tanking economy- should we only focus on one? The veterans are more important, but immigration is a current issue that needs to be dealt with.

What did we all expect from Obama. He is all in for making the wealthy pay their "fair share", when really all he's doing is making the economy slower. I'm all for closing loopholes, if taxes are lowered dramatically.

It makes no sense to reform immigration laws that will not be enforced. If the government is not willing or able to enforce the present immigration laws, why bother to reform them at all? Let's see some effort to enforce immigration laws in the workplace and at the border. Only then should any reforms be considered.

That is 11 + million illegals, you give them a work permit, and a Social Security card, U.S. driver's license,"And then the second part is the "Path to the Green Card", that permanent "" Residency that leads to Citizenship.""

After amnesty the illegal parents , brothers and sisters and grandparents the whole family will follow shortly coming in to the US illegally,
When President Reagan granted amnesty that is exactly what happened look what we have today

House members ""they are clueless"" about immigration overhaul !

      Dale,

You said "House Members are clueless". Wasn't there a female who jumped the fence right in front of a couple of U.S. Senators? Let me help you out. Please add "Senate members AND the White House" to your critique. Only then would you be 100% correct!

You realize that this is basically a Trojan horse to get millions of Mexicans onto American voting lists right? And once they can form an even more powerful voting block, they will vote to wave in even more Mexicans until they have control of America? People estimate there are 12-20 million illegal invaders in America but there can be millions more since the gov't can't keep track. What if there are actually 30-40 million invaders? It won't take them very long to turn the U.S. into another failed Latin American hell-hole. Is that what you want for your children and grandchildren?

    April 7, 2013 at 9:36 pm |
  24. FPSC

Sure, why not sneak 12-20 million (or maybe many more) illegals onto American voting lists so that they can turn around and vote for even more immigration from Mexico? Take a look at the hell-hole that Mexico is, always was and always will be. This is what you want for your children and grandchildren? A blood-soaked Latin American hell?

HEY CNN...Did you know there is a potential nuke aimed at either us, our territory or an ally? Is the WH response non-existent or do you find it un-newsworthy? Are your WH minions embarrased by yesterday's revelation of leaked confidential information that Ms. Rodham Clinton/Swiftboad Kerry were lying to the US citizens or had their head so far up that they didn't know from the intelligence agencies/DOD that this was a viable threat? I know you have been frequenting the Lincoln Room by presidental invitation, CNN, but come on, you are close to sharing that room with MSNBC by your failure to report any of this on this "blog."

Steveo – way too many things going wrong in this country related to our government and what they are (or are not) doing. Heck, even Ms. Huffington Post herself posted a story about how bad the economy is and how none of our "Washington 500" are doing anything about it.
They are focused on things and proposing policies that will do nothing to help anything i.e. phony gun control/backround checks and phony illegal criminal bills... They all need to be voted out. But instead we get from libs how they love the Weiner and they want it back....

      April 17, 2013 at 1:19 pm |
      • steveo

        John,

I am disappointed Mark Sandford is the SC GOP nominee for Congress. I am ashamed that Weiner is even thinking about running for mayor in my hometown! I am all for redemption but why does redemption have to be coupled with power? How about these guys prove themselves WITHOUT the benefit of power?, FIRST! I am tired of folks craving power and doing little to nothing good when they get it! You are correct John, a gun ban and background checks will not stop the criminal element from stockpiling weapons! Remember just after Kitrina , NOLA police actually confiscated weapons from LEGALowners. Exactly how did the police know what doors to knock on? The bad guys still had their weapons and had them and the police were stretched thin! The only folks who got the short end of the stick were those who LEGALLY ownered and registered their weapons.

These folks work for us. In the real world, when an employee costs more than he or she is worth, they get "(Donald) Trumped" and quickly! The next opportunity to TRUMP them is November 2014!

      • John

Thanks for bringing up Sanford. Many of us are sick and tired of these low lifes from both sides of the aisle. This country has been in trouble for a while and it is getting worse. I am totally convinced these "Washington 500" no longer work for us (if they ever did). Where are the jobs? Where are the policies to help businesses create jobs? Instead they try to grow government at every turn and, at the same time, try to force do nothing bills down our throats just to make it seem like they are doing something.
BTW, how telling is it that the Sanford story was the lead on Maddow last night? Then we have King on CNN giving out totally bad information and the lame stream media runs with it then adds on more bad information saying 2 arrests were made? How poor is todays media? We already know they simply repeat what this administration says. Now it appears they simply repeat what anyone says...

Whatever the issue is, this is a shame. The discussions were lively, some fiesty. Some bloggers were shills for the left, some for the right, and some were independent voices but for the most part, this WAS a place where you could share what was on your mind and had the chance to defend it or get boo'd off the stage, so to speak!! Now even with Boston and North Korea, CNN feels fit to remain silent on this blog. What a shame!

    A SIMPLE TRUTH

If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.

As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water. After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result... all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put the cold water away.

Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, all of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment...... with enthusiasm, because he is now part of the "team".

Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by the fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked. Now, the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, not one of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana.

Why, you ask? Because in their minds...that is the way it has always been!

This, my friends, is how Congress operates... and this is why, from time to time:

ALL of the monkeys need to be REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME.

I am Confused About Something in the middle East oil countries they have the best colleges and universities in the world because of their oil money, (( all education over there is provided to them for FREE; if students are a Muslim From Another Country the cost is much less than a U.S. education )) So why do they come over here ?
They have the very same courses they are taking over here, and in many cases taught by U.S. professors or middle east professors taught over here.
Could it be our Colleges and Universities they are Recruiting students from Rich Prominent Middle East Families , could it be They Like OIL Money.
U.S. Colleges and Universities Could Not Care Less, If there are some Te****ists , as long as they have Money.

        Hey Bill,

Got tired of blogging to myself! Remember how the left rode Bush for being a cowboy and took us to war? Remember how Bush said what he would do and then did it? Obama drew a red line and sounded tough. Looks like that red line was not just crossed but stomped on. What happened to the tought talk? The left will now ask "you want another war"?

Me: No I don't but who asked him to draw a red line and talk tough in the first place? Now he has to act or look impotent! "just words, just speeches"? Apparently so!

There is no guarantee in any proposals that E-Verify and Border Security will be enforced so any Amnesty now will results in future generations from having to deal with another 11-20 million illegal immigrants. We need to change citizenship rules by requiring at least one parent be a citizen like the rest of the world does, and to make being here illegally a felony with a prison term like Mexico. In 1986 the democrats promised Regan we would enforced the laws and not have an illegal immigrant problem, well look what happened.

    May 1, 2013 at 12:31 am |

Secure the border first, really secure it then proceed with the Obama amnesty process. And just think, all that trash will be taking tax dollars that they didn't pay into. No tax dollars should be wasted on these ILLEGALS even after amnesty.

The Southern Border is not the only gateway into the US. According to Bob Beckel, a strong supporter of the President, 75,000 student visas are issued to Muslim students each year. However, 15,000 never reach a college campus and do not go home.

      May 1, 2013 at 3:35 pm |

I actually saw Beckel on "The Five" when he talked about this. I don't think I have ever seen him that angry!

I saw him when he was on O'Reilly. He believes we should stop visas to Muslim students for the next two year to straighten out the mess. It was a bit of a surprise.

Both parties have had enough of this fraud.

Marco Rubio and Mario Diaz-Balart,leana Ros-Lehtinen. ted cruz/other cubans have credibility on immigration issues when they advocates that immigrants from other countries are treated the same as those from their homeland – Cuba. So either grant automatic legal status as soon as they set foot on American soil, or make Cubans go through the same process as any other immigrant. Until then, just another hypocrite
