Remarks of First Lady Michelle Obama

Delivered at Shriver Women’s Conference
Long Beach, CA

Thank you, Maria, for that very kind introduction. Thank you for your moving words today and for your courage and candor in sharing your own experiences and inspiring so many other women, here in California and across the country. Maria has been a great friend to me and even if she was a little hesitant about the job at first she has been a tremendous example of what a First Lady can and should be. And she has shown us all the impact you can have when you live your life with spirit, determination, and a singular focus on doing good in the world. So let’s give Maria another round of applause.

Remarks by the President at a DCCC Dinner

Delivered at Chace Residence
Providence, Rhode Island

Thank you so much. I was back in the kitchen making sure everything was going okay. (Laughter.) It smells really good.

So first of all I just want to thank Jonnie and Buff and the whole Chace family for opening up this spectacular home. And we are so grateful for your hospitality.

I want to make sure to recognize a couple of folks that are here. Obviously Chris Van Hollen. This guy is the hardest-working man in politics right now. (Laughter.) He is having to run around all across the country, working so hard on our behalf. And we are really proud of what he’s accomplished against daunting odds. I think we are going to end up doing really well partly because of his leadership. So please give him a big round of applause. (Applause.)

Press Gaggle aboard Air Force One

By Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton
Aboard Air Force One
En Route Warwick, Rhode Island

MR. BURTON: So one logistic note. So the fundraiser in the private home tonight, I know the guidance says pool, but it’s apparently a pretty small fundraiser, a pretty small room, so we’re just going to have room for one pooler, like we did in Minneapolis this last weekend - which you’ll all see when we get there. But there you have it.
