Remarks by the President at Domestic Violence Awareness Event

Delivered in the East Room

Thank you, everybody. (Applause.) Everybody, please have a seat. Thank you so much.

Let me just be clear. Biden’s boss is Dr. Jill Biden. (Laughter.) So let there be no confusion about that.

I want to begin, obviously, by recognizing my Vice President for the unbelievable leadership that he has shown for more than two decades on this issue - fighting alongside all the advocates who are here today. (Applause.) Great work.

Pool Report #2 – Obama taping The Daily Show

Note from pool – notes are not verbatim

Jon Stewart opens saying Obama just listed accomplishments but Democrats not running on it (even making a joking reference to Joe Manchins ad with the gun)

Obama says let me tell you about members of Congress

Jon Stewart says are you gonna swear?

Obama says no and that many members of Congress took tough votes, people like Tom Perriello, Betsy Markey and others who did what was right. He said he hopes that people who did what they thought was right and voted with integrity will be rewarded. He said that was tough because people are being pummeled with negative ads

First Lady Pool Report

Sent from Los Angeles

First Lady Michelle Obama on Tuesday told an auditorium packed with supporters that sending Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California, back to the Senate was pivotal in forwarding President Barack Obama’s agenda.

Mrs. Obama’s visit to Los Angeles was part of three-day swing through California to help raise money for California Democrats and help Boxer, a three-term Senator earn another six years in office. Mrs. Obama told voters to look to the future.“This election is about all we have left do in the months ahead,” Mrs. Obama said. “California, my husband can’t do it alone.”
