President Obama: Most important competition not between Democrats and Republicans

Washington (CNN) – Just before leaving for a 10 trip day to Asia, President Obama said the unemployment rate remains “unacceptably high, and we’ve got a lot of work to do.” In remarks to reporters in the Roosevelt Room just after the October employment was released, the president said “the most important competition that we face in this new century will not be between Democrats and Republicans, its the competition with countries around the world to lead the global economy. And our success or failure in this race will depend on whether we can come together as a nation. Our future depends on putting politics aside to solve problems, to worry about the next generation instead of the next election.” The president said he intends to use the trip as an opportunity to open foreign markets to American goods as a way to create more jobs at home.
