The travails of a cub reporter

First Lady Michelle Obama met with dozens of elated children, all members of the Police Athletic League of Harlem. Unfortunately one child wasn’t so lucky. A member of the press, he was kept behind the barricades and told Mrs. Obama would not take questions.

You see, Sahil Abbi is an eleven-year-old reporter for Time Magazine. Huh? Well, he wears glasses. He dresses in a suit. He has interviewed Tony DiTerlizzi (The Spiderwick Chronicles), Big Time Rush Band (on Nickelodeon) and worked the red carpet at the Harry Potter Premiere.

As a finalist in a journalism competition, this mini-adult is now sent out on assignments for Time. Ok not that TIME magazine, but TIME for Kids, and today’s assignment: interview the First Lady.

Though he never got that one-on-one, I asked Sahil what he would have asked her. His questions: What does she do to encourage her family to make healthy choices and be active? What is her favorite healthy kid friendly snack?

Sorry I couldn’t help you kid, but maybe Michelle Obama will read’s “The 1600 Report” and be willing to answer your queries. The audacity of hope!
