First Family helps D.C.'s less fortunate

Washington (CNN) –The Obama family spent part of Wednesday afternoon helping low-income familes in Washington get ready for Thanksgiving dinner.

The President, First Lady, and their daughters Sasha and Malia along with Mrs. Obama's mother, Marian Robinson, filled up bags with donated groceries, and delivered them to the less fortunate at Martha's Table, a community based non-profit organization in the nation's capitol.

Dressed casually, each member of the family loaded items from green beans, fruit, boxed stuffing, baked pies, and even frozen turkeys into bags that were then handed off to families lined up to receive them.

"How are you doing," the president repeatedly asked of everyone as they approached. He told many what nice families they had, and even gave a few small boys high fives.

Martha's Table is open 365 days a year, and provides a number of services from food to clothing for the community.

What an empty symbolic P.R. gesture, with lots of media coverage, showing the Oamas handing out a few bags of groceries, while they are spending millions on personal trips and pastry chefs, billions on ineffective international Public Relations travel, trillions on the pork laden Obamacare monstrosity, and who knows how much from printing another 800 billion to devalue our currency. The media is complicit in their ongoing effort to cover Obama's behind, and to sell us all a bill of goods.

You know that he isn't the first President to make an "empty symbolic P.R. gesture", right? I hate to think what you blood pressure must have went to when he pardoned the traditional Thanksgiving turkey. President's do this sort of thing all the time, why use a heartfelt moment to give a laundry list of your grievances? Try to enjoy the holidays.

Listen to the words of Sugarland, Won't you stand up, stand up you girls & boys, Use your voice. Use your voice for love not hate. President Obamas healthcare is intended to help those less fortunate. Stop using your voice for hate, stand up and use your voice for positive words of love. President Obama has no control of the FED and their decision to add $600 Billon to stimulate the economy. Please take a few moments to look at what is happening all over the world. Times are hard but at least because of the efforts and hard work our President is doing, things are improving here in the USA God Bless America and God bless our President! Let love and hope into your heart. We must be one nation.
The trips recently taken by the President were missions of goodwill, planned long ago. We are a global economy and he was trying to further that goal.

@Howard How did you contribute to helping people on Thanksgiving? At least the Obama's were out there doing something. You should try it sometime maybe you wouldn't be so full of hate. Michelle has done a lot to help the military wives and vets. President Obama is trying to provide our basic needs like healthcare. Or would you rather he do nothing and prices still go up but without the wonderful new benefits that we have now. As far as the trips, most presidents have gone to these summits. As far as trillions on healthcare that's a lie it will cost about 10 trillion in ten years(or less) or about 940,000 a year. You must have been watching FOX again like how they said it would cost 200 million a day for his trip.

I am sorry, but a photo op is just a photo op, and nothing more. Is CNN so bereft of competent reporters that they have to cover something that it considers a thinly disguised campaign stop to be news. This is on a par with John Edwards shaving the homeless with a straight razor during his presidential campaign, which gave me thoughts of Sweeney Todd rather than any intended message.

Howard, at least he's actually volunteering to help the poor and unfortunate unlike his predecessor(s) and probably you as well.

@Howard – Seriously? And what did you do this week to help anyone who is less fortunate than you? Anything?

It doesn't matter what this president do or don't will never be enough for some people. Maybe if his skin color was some other color than black it would have been fine. People cannot accept the fact that this man intentions is to help all of the american people by trying to get bills passed that would help and not hurt them. Nothing that has been passed have not had that much time to work and by the time it start working good people will see and enjoy the benefits. People seem to think that every thing is suppose to happen quick when it ususally take time for things to start working.

The trips the president takes are the ones he is supposed to take and not his personal ones. It didn't seems to matter to the right wing when all the white presidents took their trips so why shouldn't this president deserves the same respect after all whether they like it or not he sill the president of the untied states.
