More Christmas trees at the White House

Workers outside the West Wing entrance of the White House were busy putting lights on a Christmas tree on Friday evening.

The First Lady and her daughters received the official White House Christmas tree earlier this afternoon.

President injured in basketball game

Ed Henry provides the inside scoop from the White House North Lawn.

Washington (CNN) –Apparently no good deed goes unpunished for President Obama, who was trying to make sure he didn't get a flabby belly after Thanksgiving but wound up with a fat lower lip instead.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the President received a dozen stitches after getting hit with an errant elbow during a Friday morning basketball game with White House aide Reggie Love and some unidentified family members at the Fort McNair military base in Washington.

Tall arrival at the White House

Washington (CNN) –The 2010 Christmas season officially kicked off Friday when First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters, Sasha and Malia, received the White House Christmas tree as it arrived on a horse drawn carriage.

The 19 foot Douglas-fir hails from Crystal Spring Tree Farm in Lehighton, Pennsylvania and will be displayed in the Blue Room of the White House.

POTUS weekly address – Thanksgiving

Today, like millions of other families across America, Michelle, Malia, Sasha and I will sit down to share a Thanksgiving filled with family and friends – and a few helpings of food and football, too.  And just as folks have done in every Thanksgiving since the first, we’ll spend some time taking stock of what we’re thankful for: the God-given bounty of America, and the blessings of one another.

 This is also a holiday that captures that distinctly American impulse to give something of ourselves.  Even as we speak, there are countless Americans serving at soup kitchens and food pantries; contributing to their communities; and standing guard around the world.

The President is working off his Thanksgiving feast by playing basketball at Ft. McNair this morning. WH aide says it's a 5 v. 5 match. Players include Reggie Love and some of Obama's family in town for the holiday.
