Obama to touch on personal faith in speechBy Dan Gilgoff, CNN Belief Blog Co-Editor (CNN) - President Obama plans to give an unusually personal speech about his religious faith on Thursday at a high-profile prayer breakfast in Washington, a White House official said Wednesday. “He’ll give a window on the way he approaches prayer, his study of Scripture and some other spiritual disciplines that affect his daily life,” said the official. “I don’t think he’s given a window into how his faith sustains him as president,” said the official, who would not speak for attribution. “That will be a new thing.” Obama’s speech, which will be delivered at the National Prayer Breakfast, comes on the heels of public opinion surveys that show only a minority of Americans know that Obama is a Christian and that a growing number believe he’s a Muslim. I welcome Mr. Obama's profession of faith. It is time for the conservative loud-mouths who accuse him of being a Muslim
to do their homework instead of exhibiting their own ignorance. The fact is that he has been an active member of the United Church of Christ for well over 20 years and has never been a Muslim. It should also be emphasized that his
Christian convictions have enabled him to be open and tolerant of the beliefs of others and that he has great respect for the adherents of Islam! Tolerance is a cardinal principle of Christian practice and belief.
Why are you intolerant of Barry being Muslim?
Where is the intolerance? I simply stated that Mr. Obama has never been a Muslim. There is no evidence to show that he has ever been a Muslim. I was simply stating a fact. Rest assured, if Mr. Obama had been a Muslim, I would respect fully his faith choice and would have voted for him just as I did in 2008. My purpose in pointing this out simply was to show that those who berate him for being a Muslim do so without knowledge of the facts. Great, another religious leader, yeah beacuase..you know...thats what this planet needs...not so much, religion has been and will continue to be a key reason for the fall of humankind.
I wonder how Christian Mr. President and the First Lady are, when it was reported that for the first time in the White House, Christmas was not celebrated. Remember?
Muslims believe in Jesus. What they do not believe in is that Jesus is God; the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. Muslims do not believe that Jesus is the only begotten son of the Father. Muslims do not believe in the Blessed Trinity. Muslims also do not believe that Jesus was crucified, died and was buried and rose again from the dead to redeem us from sin and gain eternal life for us in heaven.
Mr. President should be asked if he believes that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God the Father; that he suffered, died and rose again from the dead? He should be asked if he believes that Jesus is God. If he says an unequivocal Yes then we can be sure he is a Christian. But then again, in Islam, there is something called takia where you can lie to the enemy or to deceive another for the sake of Islam.
For me, I see the downfall of humankind as being due to the perpetual growing desire of us to systemically thwart, twist, spin, practically denounce the TRUTH of GODS' WORD; in order to validate and civily justify humankinds' life choices, whims, desires, lusts and prideful decisions to be, do, go, say, and play whatever part he wants to play on GODS' stage! HIS WORLD! HE will not strive with man always. I'm no ordained minister, but I do study THE WORD; and moreso now-a-days! See REV:22, 18 and 19 verses.

You may be speaking to the first blogger, but if you're asking me; I really have no quams whatsoever if he was of the ISLAMIC faith. A true GOD-FEARING, prayerful MUSLIM is more disciplined in his faith and in living than many of us who claim CHRISTIANITY! They're a clean, usually healthy or at least a health conscious group. They eat well and don't partake in alchohol, drugs, nor cigarettes. If they do, they truly do believe that the body is a temple, so they work hard to clean it up and keep it clean!
My intolerance is of him being labeled a MUSLIM, only because of the evil AMERICAN-made stigma given ISLAM, and he KEEPS telling you he ISN'T! What in the world does a man have to do? I would feel disrespected myself if someone out of anger, bigotry, and hate just jumped up and decided to keep saying I was JEWISH or ISLAMIC; and I know I believe the LORD JESUS CHRIST is my SAVIOR! One of HIS sheep who once fell short during my life, but who never gave up my faith! My faith KEPT me, as it KEEPS PRES OBAMA!

It's not as much a litmus test, as it is a description of what I've observed about them. I have quite a few MUSLIM acquaintances and a few who are friends; one or two in my extended family. They are NOT the scary group that has been portrayed in the media. I answered your question about why the intolerance if the president was MUSLIM. I only was telling you that I found nothing intolerable about it if he was; and in general, they were GODFEARING, good people. They believe in GOD aka ALLAH; One in the same.
