POTUS schedule February 17, 2011

President Obama will meet with a bipartisan group of senators and congressmen and his Education Secretary Arne Duncan on the re-authorization of No Child Left Behind.  This is a group that will be re-writing the law to make it in the White House words “more fair, flexible and focused on helping all students to graduate ready for college and careers.”

The president and his chief of staff will have a lunch with Democratic House leaders in the Oval Office.   He will also sign a bill that names a courthouse under construction in Yuma, Arizona after Judge John Roll, who among the six people killed in the Arizona massacre in January where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot.  Thursday evening, Obama travels to San Francisco where he'll meet with business leaders including Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.  White House schedule provided by the White House:

9:30AM          THE PRESIDENT and THE VICE PRESIDENT receive the Presidential Daily Briefing (Oval Office – Closed Press)

9:55AM          THE PRESIDENT holds a meeting on the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Meeting participants include Senators Tom Harkin, Mike Enzi, Jeff Bingaman, Lamar Alexander and Representatives John Kline, George Miller, Duncan Hunter, and Dale Kildee.  Education Secretary Arne Duncan will also be in attendance. 12:15PM        THE PRESIDENT and THE VICE PRESIDENT meet with House Democratic Leadership for lunch. Meeting attendees include White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn. 5:45PM          THE PRESIDENT arrives in San Francisco, California

6:45PM          THE PRESIDENT meets with business leaders in technology and innovation (Private Residence – Closed Press)
