Huckabee: "I have no disagreement with President Obama as a human being"

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Just after defending and praising Michelle Obama, potential GOP hopeful Mike Huckabee had some more nice things to say about another member of the Obama family during a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

"I have no disagreement with President Obama as a human being.  In fact, I will go so far to say one of the things I respect very much is the role model that he has served as a husband and father," Huckabee said.

The former reverend then went one step further, saying President Obama serves as a good role model for the nation.

"He has given us an excellent example of a person who has his priorities straight in marking out time for his wife and raising his daughters in a disciplinary environment in which he recognizes that he the parent is responsible for the atmosphere in which they are raised. I commend him and salute him for that," he said with his signature comity.

But in a sign that the former presidential candidate may run again, Huckabee said that he believed Republicans can take back the presidency in 2012. Even still, he warned, don't get overly confident.

"When Republicans act giddy and start measuring the drapes, you know,  for  the family quarters,  I just want to remind them that this guy is going to be sitting on a billion dollars in a campaign fund and he is the incumbent president," he said.

OMG! The truth always comes to the light; no matter who GOD sends to bring it! Did you hear that Jay? Good father, good husband, good role model for the nation? And then incumbent PRESIDENT? Actually, out of the whole 'lot' of REPUBLICAN candidates, and if I'd been a (PARTISAN ONLY) REPUBLICAN, I would've voted for HUCKABEE! Like OBAMA is, I believe he too, would have been a lawful, fair and balanced President, mainly because of his faith in GOD. He wouldn't have strayed far from his faith, no matter what!

So you like Gov. Huckabee because he complimented Barry? Do you ever think for your self?

Yes. I think for myself. I thought during the campaign for myself as I listened to the candidates REPUBLICANS and DEMOCRATS, that if I had or wanted to vote REPUBLICAN, it would have been for HUCKABEE. I enjoyed listening to his exchange with the media about the issues the nation was facing and his seemingly genuine desire to get in and try to do something to fix it. He didn't play 'dirty politics' and was gracious and courteous even back then and still is, I see. That's more than I can say for some people!

I respect MR HUCKABEE as a human being, again FYI, just like MR BUSH was no longer GOVERNOR BUSH when he gave up that job to run for president, was 'selected' as PRESIDENT, he was no longer GOVERNOR BUSH! Once his 2 terms were up, he didn't go back to being GOVERNOR, nor is he any longer PRESIDENT BUSH! MR HUCKABEE is no longer GOVERNOR HUCKABEE; nor is MRS PALIN still GOVERNOR PALIN! They all gave up those titles when they decided to run for office! OBAMA is the PRESIDENT and THE FIRST LADY is his wife!

Those are some very complex rules Liz. Maybe you should work in the United States Foreign Service. They need someone to tell Barry when not to bow.

You say that "They all gave up those titles when they decided to run for office!" So if a gov. does not run for office do they still have the title of gov?

What in the world are you rambling about? What does my telling your 'Barry' when to bow have to do with 'titles'? I just explained to you that once PALIN quit her job as GOV, to run for vice-president, she gave that up. She even went back and quit again, formally and on tv, where we all could hear her goodbye speech to her state. She isn't a GOV PALIN anymore! The same goes for HUCKABEE; he quit and ran for REP candidate for president. He didn't go back to being GOV HUCKABEE, either, OK? It's now MR or MRS.

So, President Clinton is just Mr. Clinton and I guess it would be Mr. Lincoln and Mr. Washington. Are there laws about this or just social consequences? I mean is it stupid for some to refer to Mr. Bush as President Bush? I hope not because I have heard on many occasions the current president calling him President Bush. Would not want to think that he was saying the wrong thing. That would upset the balance of the universe.

Now as far as calling them by their first names or nick names. Is that ever appropriate? Again I have heard the current president refer to others by their first names. This new world order is so confusing.

The point that I'm making is that PRESIDENT BARACK H OBAMA deserves his full and total respect, as have all of the others recieved while in that position! He IS the PRESIDENT! It's not the past tense yet! He IS the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA, right now! He's not a FORMER PRESIDENT just yet! It seems you fix your mouth to blatantly disrespect his position title, by the obvious intentional neglect to call him by his proper name or position title. To me, it carries with it, a look of bigotry.

Jay, I know I can't tell you or anyone to respect him as a man; but it just seems that you could respect the office, and you ought to be able to respect some of the positions he's had to try to maneuver through! But for you to make it your business to detitle him as 'Barry', as you compare him to 'former' presidents or make reference to them, calling them PRESIDENTS BUSH and CLINTON; it's a slap in the face to many AMERICANS who DO respect, understand, empathize, and can appreciate what he is having to do!

I know there are people who may still refer to the 'former' presidents BUSH and CLINTON as President Bush and President Clinton, I'm guilty of it oftentimes; to be honest, I only started making a consciencious effort to drop 'PRESIDENT' from their names, when I saw how you continued to treat the PRESIDENT! You may never refer to OBAMA as PRESIDENT, but for you not to even see fit to call the CURRENT PRESIDENT by his proper name, BARACK OBAMA; even by mistake, is totally hateful, dismissive and uncalled for!

So it is OK for you to make a conscientious effort to drop 'PRESIDENT' from their names however, if I do the same thing then I am a bigot. You do see the irony of this don't you? (I don't expect a real answer)

NO! I didn't say you it was stupid for referring to the 'previous' presidents as PRESIDENT. I said it's disrespecful that you have such a bias with referring to the 'current' president as PRESIDENT, as well! You do the FIRST LADY the same way! From you, we have to keep accepting her as the FIRST DATE; but MRS BUSH is still referred to as the FIRST LADY! You won't even call her by her proper name MICHELLE OBAMA! Oh, a PRESIDENT can call an ex-president 'PRESIDENT'! Again, it's all about protocol and respect!

The new world order has nothing to do with this, I was taught to be courteous, polite and respecful in the old world order! I was also taught to pray for those who were in authority, even if I didn't agree with them! Since you pointed to a person recently that you claimed fanned the 'flames of hatred and division', what is it that you think you do? I'm sure you know the PRESIDENT is referred to most times by the media as OBAMA or MR OBAMA! So what's wrong with 'we the people' calling former presidents MR?

I do not have a problem with them being called Mr. or one day even Ms.. It does not bother me. I just find it all interesting that you can make a conscientious effort to drop 'PRESIDENT' from their names however, if I do the same thing then I am a bigot. (repeating my self). You have one standard for your self and another for conservatives. Liberals do tend to be hypocrites. Your politicians will use words like 'kill the bill' 'target spending' but if a conservatives uses the exact same phrase they are vilified.

This guy is Barry to me because he called me his 'enemy.' I have said it before but it is worth repeating. No other president in US history has given a speech where they called American citizens enemies. That is a big deal, he showed disrespect there for just like you I have dropped calling him president.

The First Date, no other title sums her up as well. Poor Berry has to take her on expensive dates, at tax payer expense, just to keep her happy and sometimes that does not work. She will often go stomping off, sometimes to another country, if she does not get her reward. Very high maintenance. She is mad at this country, Barry and the world. She is determine to get paid for what she sees as a job. She is no lady, she is The First Date.

@Jay, I told you I made a conscienciou effort to drop 'PRESIDENT' from the names of previous presidents, mainly BUSH/CLINTON, BECAUSE of the way it seems you've 'conscienciously' continued to treat, or mistreat, dismiss and detitle the PRESIDENT and the FIRST LADY! My reasons are NOT to impose any disrespect, hate nor bigotry towards either of them, but to show YOU what disrespect, dismissiveness, and detitling looks and feels like! You know I usually refer to them as 'FORMER PRESIDENT BUSH/CLINTON, anyway!

You continue to LIE on the FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA like it is the TRUTH, and you know you are wrong Jay! Everything you perpetually repeat about her is a lie! And you use that hate-filled rant as an excuse to continue your dismissal of her true title! She is as much of a lady as was any of the other ladies, that EVER passed through the WHITEHOUSE. She is OBAMAS' WIFE, who loves him, not a DATE! The dates they've taken costs no more than what any of the WHITE ex-presidents DATES costed with their wives?!?!

Everything I repeat about her is a lie? Is that so, please tell me if these things that I have said are untrue.

The First Date did not spend Barry's birth day with him, instead she took an expensive trip to Spain. Barry spent the time with Harpo in Chicago.

The First Date did not travel with Barry to Hawaii. She took a 2nd jet with dog Bo.

      Need I continue....?

I'm sure it was their business what they both decided to do during that time and it so happened to have fallen during PRESIDENT OBAMAS' birthday. He and she had to have sat down, discussed it and agreed to do what they did! That's what most married couples do! OPRAH may have invited the PRESIDENT to CHICAGO before hand and the FIRST LADY agreed he should go! I know you hate her for it, but OPRAH WAS one of his biggest campaign supporters, so why wouldn't he go? They can give up blowing out candles ONE TIME!

  13. Liz Carter in Georgia

The PRESIDENT is a 'BIG BOY' now so I'm sure he will get over that one birthday. However, do they need to check in with you for 'approvals' or 'disapprovals' to go on dates? In reference to the trip to SPAIN that the FIRST LADY took, it wasn't a fun trip or mini vaction! She went to SPAIN on a condolence/sympathy/funeral trip for someone, who works in the WHITEHOUSE, who is a friend. This persons' mother or father passed. So stop the madness and for GODS' sake, will you please give up the BO thing, already?

Did the FORMER PRESIDENT BUSH take his dog to CRAWFORD and CAMP DAVID? According to the news media, he did! I've seen him in pictures or photos of him and his dog riding in the truck, out in the field, in CRAWFORD! When the FIRST FAMILY went to his hometown; the first thing is, the PRESIDENT was all but EXPECTED to stay in WASHINGTON and work, even though most of CONGRESS had already gone home, until the last few hours before CHRISTMAS! Did that mean his family had to be late for their CHRISTMAS break too?

Now, I know you don't have any understanding, empathy nor compassion for PRESIDENT OBAMA, his wife, his family, his friends, his supporters, his administration, his plight, his efforts, the DEMS, nor the REPUBS, who are trying to work with him to make things better, but the mans' family had the right to go ahead and take their dog! Was it their fought that in the UNITED STATES, the dog had to take shots to get into the state of HAWAII? There had to be tests taken on the dog? Isn't that clear enough for you
