Obamas to appear on Oprah WASHINGTON (CNN) -The queen of talk, the president and first lady of the United States together again. The President and Mrs. Obama will sit down with Oprah Winfrey for a taping of her talk show April 27th, a White House source confirms to CNN. This is Oprah's final season for the popular syndicated show which she has hosted for 25 years. She famously endorsed then-Senator Obama in his bid for president in 2007 on the Larry King Show. That was the first time the talk show queen inserted herself into a presidential race. Winfrey went on to campaign for Obama and was very visible at his election night victory rally in Chicago's Grant Park. Just this month the internet lit up with speculation that she might not endorse Obama in his bid for re-election in 2012. But she has remained mum on that topic. The show with the Obamas will air May 2. |

Really dislike the President apprearing on talk shows, whether its The View, Oprah or any other talk show format. He is the President of the United States, if he has something to say hold a press conference.
Millions watch Oprah 5 days a week regardless whether the President is on her show or not. But if you miss it, don't forget to record it. Have a nice day.

How much does it cost to fly Airforce 1 (or whatever number it might be now?) to these events? How much for the Secret Service that is provided for him and his family to attend these events. Gracie I agree with you 1000 percent. As for me, I don't agree with everything this President have done, but I respect and trust him. I think he has done a darn good job considering all the mess he has had to deal with. While others want to forget the crisis G.W. lefted this country in, I can't and won't. What is your idea or description of how one should be acting like a president? BTW, many of you don't treat him like one anyway! So what's the big deal? I would like to know the total cost to the taxpayers for the first family to visit Chicago, for the express purpose of appearing on a TV show. The TOTAL cost including transportation for ALL involved, secuity, advance team, Chicago police, etc.
Not trashing the president but how many people do you think voted for him just so they could be around for the 1st African American president? All I'm saying is I believe people voted for him for the wrong reasons. As far as Oprah goes, of course she would endorse him. Clinton and Bush appeared on shows after their presidency, not during. If Obama felt he needed to get info to the American people so badly he should've called a press conference.
