Obamas to appear on Oprah

WASHINGTON (CNN) -The queen of talk, the president and first lady of the United States together again. The President and Mrs. Obama will sit down with Oprah Winfrey for a taping of her talk show April 27th, a White House source confirms to CNN.

This is Oprah's final season for the popular syndicated show which she has hosted for 25 years. She famously endorsed then-Senator Obama in his bid for president in 2007 on the Larry King Show. That was the first time the talk show queen inserted herself into a presidential race. Winfrey went on to campaign for Obama and was very visible at his election night victory rally in Chicago's Grant Park.

Just this month the internet lit up with speculation that she might not endorse Obama in his bid for re-election in 2012. But she has remained mum on that topic. The show with the Obamas will air May 2.

Unlike the conservative Republicans, President Obama called for fairness to 98% of alll Americans and not just the top 2% the GOP cares about.

Obama needs to act like a president, not a celebrity. The presidentT of the US should NOT be appearing on tv entertainment shows...we are in need of leadership and a strong vision for the future, not an interview with Oprah LOL.

Would love to see her Tax Return. She, alone, could put a big dent in the massive Debt Obama has created! As much financial trouble Chicago is in, her income, from commercials alone, would solve their problems quite well. Sure she has asked for a "Waiver" on Obama Care.

Debt that Obama created? You can't be serious. You do know that there was a president in office before Obama, right? And said president caused the massive debt to which you speak. Obama is merely trying to fix the problem, not create new ones... but I am sure you would completely disagree with that one, MJ.

My gosh pulling in the big guns is not the word for this, she is the one, along with all her sheeple are waiting for her to say let vote for him again, he is for the people. Wrong Oprah, in this sense you have lost your luster. We don't believe a word you say about your friend and cohort obama, besides he wants your money, because your one of the wealthy ones, unless you have cut a deal behind closed doors like he usually does and made you promises, if you endorse him. We have open ears, and hopefully those people who think your politically savvy are wrong.

The sad thing here is that millions of dumb caucasions have made this woman the richest woman in the world. And she would'nt wet your back if it was on fire. Can't you see the hatred breathing fire out of these people's eyes. The problem with them is that they are not educated enough for you to even try and reason with them. I would like to ask Obama.s sister how she fanaggled citizianship from Hawaii when she also was born in indonisia. But she has the same certificate as Obama from Hawaii saying she was a live birth. She did quote that her mother was citizian so that made her one. THIS IS WRONG. IF TRUE THEN WHY DO SO MANY AMERICAN SERVICE PEOPLE HAVE TO APPLY FOR CITIANSHIP FOR THEIR CHILD WHEN THEIR CHILDREN ARE BORN IN OTHER COUNTRIES? Get real people and get educated.

WRONG ON THAT, TOO, GAYLON. Google some stuff before you write about it ...such as service peoples' children born overseas and citizenship. Or read some books. Or perhaps turn of Fox and seek out a more enlightened Sunday service.

with obamas support of abortions makes him no better than what we were called in the 70's which makes obama and all democrates Baby Killers.

    April 12, 2011 at 5:52 pm |
    • Steve in Denver

Hey "print this" – I support a woman's right to choose, particularly in cases of rape or incest. I have not had an abortion (pretty easy, since I'm a male), nor caused anyone to have an abortion. How am I a baby killer?

Does that mean, since you seem to be anti-abortion, that you are a doctor killer, as in Scott Roeder?

And this relates to Obama being on Oprah how?

      April 12, 2011 at 6:21 pm |

If you approve of it and think it then you are guilty according to God. If you don't believe in God then why should you worry.

        April 12, 2011 at 9:06 pm |
      • Steve in Denver

Let's try this again, gaylon barrow. God is who judges, not you. You were not annointed to speak for god, or judge for god. Try actually reading the bible you so willingly profess to speak for. A verse in Matthew goes something like this: Judge not, that you be not judged. There are many other verses in the bible that reserve god's judgement for god, not you, scott roeder, george bush, or any other of you bible thumpers who pervert a good religion for your immoral goals.

We do not believe in Obama, color has nothing to do with it. It is his actions that has turned me away. His not saluting the flag old crotch grabber. His own admission that he can't stand the flag or our National Anthem Michelle saying this is the first time she was proud of America. These people are not Patriots. It will be interesting to see what sinister plot the bigots connect to this dastardly act! I see a couple have already put on their pointy hats and engaged. Hate is a powerful motivator... I wonder if an appearance on Fox News is considered a racist gesture? Most everybody is white on Fox and a good number of them are running for the Republican nomination for President – bought and paid for by Rupert Murdoch.

I can't even believe I was a stupid Democrat for fifty years. Even voted for Obama until I see what he is. He is out to destroy America but this is fine with you jackals. Now we have sinister plots going on. The only plot of I know about is that we not going to stand by and watch people run amok like in LA after Obama does not get reelected in 2012. @Gaylon Barrow, above, you are one scary dude! Me thinks u have been watching toooo much Fox "News." Don't you know that channel really isn't news?? Try watching something like Rachel Maddow's show, for instance. She really delves into whatever political topic is current. She is the brainiest person on cable, as Thom Hartmann is on the radio, satellite or other. Too bad that Fox"News" has created that paranoia in you & your ilk about the president. I can't wait for the new batch of lies Obama will think up for his next campaign. Let's recap. He said he would fix the economy – fail; he said he would close guantanimo – fail; he said he would wind down the wars in the middle east – fail since he started another and still has them; he said it was unconstitutional for a president to start a war without congress – fail since he did it anyway in Libya. About the only thing he did tell the truth on was that he would redistribute the wealth and he did by making tons of high paying jobs in the Gov't which contribute nothing to society and they tax everyone who works to pay for them. I can't wait for his next batch of lies. Maybe he will promise new cars for everyone? The only one who lied as much as him was running Germany during the second WW.

Oprah stuck us with this inept, anti-American, inexperienced, radical, racist, corrupt President, when she endorsed him as 'The One'. Probably because they spent years in Wright's anti-American, racist church together. To bad, they squandered the importance of electing our first black President, by backing this fool, just because he happened to be black. To save America, we must dump Obama, Pelosi and Reid ... and, then indict , convict , and imprison these three traitors !!!

And if George W Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald L Rumsfeld, Karl Rove, and sadly, but to be fair and balanced, I'd have to also name Condeleeza Rice and Colin Powell weren't charged, indicted, convicted, and imprisoned, I don't see how anyone in that WHITEHOUSE or working in the nations' capitol these days, could possibly be pushed into any court! If it happens, first come first serves!!

Liz Carter in Georgia ... I see you are a devout Obama supporter, so I don't want to confuse you with facts. Your blind loyalty is touching, but with the survival and future of America hanging in the balance, I choose America over politically correct gestures. The fact is that Obama is a horrible President. Race has nothing to do with it. Obama is destroying our economy, disrespecting our constitution, and giving away our sovereignty. He's an arrogant fool, who reufuses to take responsibility for anything, while blaming others for everything.

I like Oprah, but at a time when our government should NOT be wasting any money, I would like them to give us a breakdown of the Obamas trips for these types of appearances. They are not necessary and besides his grandstanding, I truly believe the President should have gone into acting instead of Politics. How much does it cost to fly Airforce 1 (or whatever number it might be now?) to these events? How much for the Secret Service that is provided for him and his family to attend these events. If the President was serious about reducing spending and waste, he should start at home and set an example of making sacrifices.

You're jealous that BARACK OBAMA has his own, and where he may be lacking, which I don't see where or how that can be, he has good back-up support like OPRAH WINFREY; not to speak of his grass root supporters. He doesn't need to beg you nor your 'group' for a dime or for anything! I don't believe you voted for him! I don't believe you were ever a DEMOCRAT; DIXIECRAT maybe! I'm almost inclined to believe you're no veteran! Many don't clown like you; even if they are of your stupid opinions! They don't brag!

Howard, that's your opinion. I don't agree with it! The economy was destroyed when he 'drove up'! He IS working everything he does on domestic and foreign issues, right within the boundaries of the constitution, as it speaks of presidential powers! He's admitted at least twice, that he'd probably jumped the gun on a couple of ideas! He rescinded; took them back to the table, to start over! You're embellishing conservative propaganda and YES, most of it stems from or IS rooted in racism! We're NOT blind! OK?

Just take this last item: In the last two years we have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our entire nation's history. Over 27 times as fast! Metaphorically, speaking, if you are driving in the right lane doing 65 MPH and a car rockets past you in the left lane 27 times faster . . . it would be doing 1,755 MPH! This is a disaster!

Not trashing the president but how many people do you think voted for him just so they could be around for the 1st African American president? All I'm saying is I believe people voted for him for the wrong reasons. As far as Oprah goes, of course she would endorse him. Clinton and Bush appeared on shows after their presidency, not during. If Obama felt he needed to get info to the American people so badly he should've called a press conference.
