Biden sleeps as Obama talks

WASHINGTON (CNN) - It's not easy living under the glare of the spotlight, especially when you are caught on camera drifting to sleep while your boss delivers a major speech.  That's what happened to Vice President Biden, who appears to take a short catnap while President Obama is presenting his deficit reduction plan at George Washington University Wednesday afternoon.

We should give Biden the benefit of the doubt.  Maybe he was in the middle of a deep thought about what Obama was talking about, Medicare ending as we know it and not keeping our promise to seniors.  His eyes opened up as the president was saying, "tough luck – you're on your own."

No one can blame him for closing his eyes for 25 seconds during a 44-minute speech. If he could sleep for 20 years like Rip Van Winkle, maybe the deficit would be cut in half by then.

Every one is bored with Barry. He is long on talk, short on substance.

The president has a monotonous voice that has a tendency to put some people to sleep. There are jerks and stops in the tone but it is still monotonous. If he really wants to save money, he needs to stop all these wars. Cut on the military expenses. Learn from Vietnam. We never should have been there , neither in iraq, Afghanistan or anywhere else. None of them were of any benefit.

I'm assuming he had a headache or something and was just resting his eyes. Why does the media feel the need to jump on this? Waste of "reporting".

I'm guessing that he was praying for the Pretender-In-Chief not to call on him for any answers...

Biden's nap during Obama's budget speech, fits right in there with the photo of the two Democratic congressmen playing solitaire on their computers, while congress was in session ... or, with the air traffic controllers sleeping in the control towers at airports. With all the truly qualified, deserving people in our country, who could be assuming these positions, how is it that we end up relying on these inept, irresponsible fools ???

Howard, I totally see the equivalence. What exactly did Biden falling asleep during the speech leave us at risk of? He nodded off for less than a minute during a 44 minute speech that he had at least read if not heard before. He wasn't being asked to make some life or death decision (or any decision at all). Whereas the air traffic controllers napping could have lead to collisions. This is certainly no worse than any of the many boneheaded things that every pol has done. I'm sure that you've never fallen asleep during a presentation.

Obama has spent more American tax money in the first two years of his Presidency, than all the Presidents before him, COMBINED !!! ... and, he still is pushing to spend TRILLIONS more !!!

Here are just a few examples of how Obama is ruining our economy:

2009 GAS $1.83 per gallon TODAY $4.00 + per gallon
      2009 SOYBEANS $9.66 TODAY $13.75
      2009 SUGAR $$13.37 TODAY $35.39
2009 NUMBER OF LONG TERM UNEMPLOYED 2,600,000 TODAY 6,400,000
      2009 PEOPLE IN POVERTY IN U.S. 39,800,000 TODAY 43,600,000
2009 NATIONAL DEBT IN TRILLIONS $10,627 TODAY $14,052
Just take this last item: In the last two years we have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our entire nation's history. Over 27 times as fast! Metaphorically, speaking, if you are driving in the right lane doing 65 MPH and a car rockets past you in the left lane 27 times faster . . . it would be doing 1,755 MPH! This is a disaster!

I can't wait to see Trump debate Obama.
He'll blow him off the road, and expose him
the the empty suit that he really is.
Trump will restore America to it's exceptionalism.

    Two Points:
    (1) "Joe Biden" & "Deep In Thought" is an oxymoron...
    (2) Eyes closed for a couple of seconds is thoughtful, 30 seconds is snoozing..

alumette; You're dead right! I'd guess that 95% of the average American, the layman of 'we the people' sure had NO business in any of those wars, but most of the top 2 or 3% did! They had dogs in the fight. That's what 'national vital interests' is all about. We only start or jump into wars for profits; the interests of SOME. You can bet your last dime that we don't get into anything, expecting NOTHING! They do come up with legitimate sounding excuses to get US support that they're doing the right thing!

TRUMP IS A BUSINESS MAN, A BUSINESS MOGUL, HE IS A WEALTHY AMERICAN WHO INTENDS ON STAYING WEALTY, OK? He is a deal maker as well as a deal breaker! Trump is for Trump! Now, if you want to really see us get sold out; our country, its' land and its' people, vote for Trump! He's really proving himself to be the greedy, sneaky, selfish b-s-d, that I never before believed he was. TRUMP in 2012? If he wins, just watchout people! America loses! He's in real estate too you know. He will sell us out to CHINA!
