What DOD says happened at the OBL compound DOD narrative of events at the Osama Bin Laden Compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan as read by WH Press Secretary Jay Carney in White House briefing: On orders of the President, a small U.S. team assaulted a secure compound in an affluent suburb of Islamabad to capture or kill Osama bin Laden. The raid was conducted with U.S. military personnel assaulting on two helicopters. The team methodically cleared the compound moving from room to room in an operation lasting nearly 40 minutes. They were engaged in a firefight throughout the operation and Osama Bin Laden was killed by the assaulting force. In addition to the bin Laden family, two other families resided in the compound: one family on the first floor of the bin Laden building and one family in a second building. One team began the operation on the first floor of the bin Laden house and worked their way to the third floor; a second team cleared the separate building. In the room with bin Laden, a woman – bin Laden’s wife – rushed the U.S. assaulter and was shot in the leg but not killed. Bin Laden was then shot and killed. He was not armed. Following the firefight, the non-combatants were moved to a safe location as the damaged helicopter was detonated. The team departed the scene via helicopter to the USS Carl Vinson in the North Arabian Sea. Aboard the USS Carl Vinson, the burial of bin Laden was done in conformance with Islamic precepts and practices. The deceased's body was washed and then placed in a white sheet. The body was placed in a weighted bag; a military officer read prepared religious remarks, which were translated into Arabic by a native speaker. After the words were complete, the body was placed on a prepared flat board, tipped up, and the deceased body eased into the sea. |

White house says they received a photo of Osama's body lying in a hangar in Afghanistan. If that is the case, then what DoD says doesn't make sense – "The team departed the scene via helicopter to USS carl vinson in the north atlantic". Or Does it mean that they brought back the body from the aircraft carrier to a base in Afghanistan ???

On A.C. 360 this evening a commentator was analyzing why George Bush declined Barack Obama's invitation to attend the upcoming event at Ground Zero. What I got out of his analysis was the fact that George Bush was making some kind of partisan statement. In fact, George Bush was probably acting graciously and allowing Barack Obama to have a moment in the sun, one which he deserved. The intent of decling the invitation was quite possibly the opposite of the intent which the commentator attributed to George Bush. Very poor commentary.

He decided to us a tactical operation with the Special Ops instead of using a precision strike by a drone or carpet bombing the whole compound or city. How does an "unarmed" 50+-year-old man "resist" when staring at X number of young, highly-trained Navy Seals armed with automatic weapons? Given that the mission was supposed to be "capture or kill", if it really went down the way the White House says, it doesn't speak well of the Seals' professionalism (and we know elite Seals are PROFESSIONAL!).
There are undoubtedly things we aren't being told – and we're probably better off that we ARE NOT told! As for the photo of the corpse, we don't need to see it. Keep the enemies and the naysayers guessing!

Bin Laden was a "clear and present danger" to the security of the United States. The Seals carried off reams of materials about attacks in the planning. Who knows how many American lives have been saved due to these attacks being scrapped.

Barry knew that Osama was in Pakistan from August 2010. He watched Osama watch Obama on TV while 1000s died. Should have gone in and taken him out, end the war, and have a trial. But he drug this war out longer for his own personal gain. Nothing is good about that.

If you're putting out on this blog to 'the stupid' that PRESIDENT OBAMA was holding us in AFGHANISTAN for his own personal gain, tell us how. What's he gaining? What did he gain personally? What 'national vital interests' does he personally have in AFGHANISTAN? August 2010? If that's true, I know one thing, the amount of time it took this 'OBL MISSION to ACCOMPLISH', will never be so negatively viewed, as compared to the length of time BUSH skated around OBL, had him, let him go, and never did get him!
Barry gained at least 6 points in his ratings. It is all very interesting that he knew for 9 months the whereabouts of Osama. His poll numbers were at an all time low, so what did he do, released his birth certificate, then the next week sit back and watch a video of our soldiers killing Osama. Strange indeed.
He prolonged the Afghanistan war for personal political gain. 403 of our soldiers died from the time Barry found out were Osama was at untill he had him killed. 465 from other countries, you now the ones Barry talked into joining his surge. 1000s of civilians have died all so Barry could 'play this card' when the heat back home was getting to much to stand.

Laughing out Loud about soldiers dying? Remember I was also against the Iraq war and the hanging of Hussain. Just because a president has the authority to go to war does not mean that they should use it. I have said that many many times.
