First Friends: Michelle Obama and Mexico's First Lady 'click'

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Michelle Obama introduced a surprise guest at a White House poetry workshop this afternoon: the First Lady of Mexico, Margarita Zavala.

The visit doesn't seem to be official in nature. "She happened to be here, and I was like, you got to come, you got to come and check this out," Mrs. Obama told the audience of students and artists.

The First Lady said that she and her Mexican counterpart were simply "dear friends."

"I get to meet a lot of First Spouses in my work, and sometimes you just click with people, and this woman, who is an attorney, she’s a passionate advocate for young people in her home country and around the world, she’s somebody that I click with," she explained.

The two may have bonded last year during a state visit for the Mexican president and first lady.

Prior to the official state dinner, the first ladies visited a school together in Silver Spring, MD, to talk about nutrition.

I am glad to hear that The First Date has a dear friend. I wonder if they will go on vacation together like Oprah and her gal Gale?

Shouldn't the First Lady of the U.S. speak the English language better than this: "She happened to be here, and I was like, you got to come, you got to come and check this out," Mrs. Obama told the audience of students and artists." And she is addressing poets! Kind of like standing with the Queen with her legs apart. She is an embarrassment.

Our EIB affiliate in routhesn IL, just outside St. Louis, did NOT carry Rush's program yesterday. I would have loved to have heard his comments...A historic moment doesn't need to include censorship of commentary...if all the other media sources were able to give their take on the speech, etc. via television, radio, internet–then Rush should have retained his voice also. The swearing in (less than 3 minutes) could have broken into all the programs, and then resumed the regular programming.
