Obama hosts championship team at the White HouseWASHINGTON (CNN) -They are the reigning champions of men’s college basketball, and their winning ways got the UConn Huskies to the White House Monday for a celebration with President Obama. But amid the fanfare of the East Room ceremony, Obama couldn’t help but remind the champions of how their victory spoiled his prospects along with those of many other disappointed Americans. “Let’s face it, this was a tough year for a lot of brackets because teams like this one shocked the world,” Obama said. “So next time you guys decide to reel off 11 straight wins, please let me know ahead of time.” Obama had picked the Kansas Jayhawks to take it all. All kidding aside, Obama marveled at how a young team who finished the regular season tied for ninth place in their league, ended up pulling through and winning a national title. Obamas money: Heavy on treasuriesBy CNNMoney Senior Writer Jennifer Liberto WASHINGTON (CNN) -A big portion of President Obama's wealth is invested in federal debt, according to a financial disclosure form released Monday. The president and First Lady Michelle Obama had assets valued between $2.8 million and $11.8 million in 2010. And between $2 million and $10 million of their assets are invested in super-safe U.S. Treasury securities, according to the disclosure form. That's up from $1.5 million to $6 million reported invested in Treasury notes and bills in 2009. The report uses broad financial ranges, making a more precise accounting impossible. The president and First Lady reported no debts. President visits Memphis high school graduation![]() From CNN's Sally Holland MEMPHIS (CNN) – A hundred and fifty-five Warriors from Booker T. Washington received a high school diploma and a handshake from President Obama in Memphis today. “Just a couple of years ago, this was a school where only about half the students made it to graduation. For a long time, just a handful headed to college each year,” the President pointed out in his address to the students. The schools graduation rate is one reason the President came to Memphis on this cool spring day. Booker T. Washington High School is credited with a jump in graduation rate from 55% to 82 % in just four years through the use of gender based classrooms and increasing teacher effectiveness by moving teachers that seem to get more than a years growth out of their students to the core classes of English and mathematics. “Because you created this culture of caring and learning, today we are standing in a very different Booker T. Washington High School. Today, this is a place where more than four out of five students are earning a diploma – a place where 70 percent of the graduates will continue their education.” The President has set a goal of having the largest percentage of college graduates in the world by the year 2020. Booker T. Washington is an inner city school, is a low-income neighborhood with high incidents of teenage pregnancy and violence.
