Volcano gets in Obama's way WASHINGTON (CNN) -It wasn't a lack of Irish hospitality but instead a Nordic volcano forcing President and Mrs. Obama to leave Ireland early. After a whirlwind tour of the Emerald Isle, including connecting with his Irish roots and downing a pint of Guinness in a Moneygall pub, President Obama is leaving Monday night for London - a change in schedule. A volcano in Iceland that has affected air travel in some parts of Europe is to blame. White House spokesman Josh Earnest announced Air Force One would depart Ireland Monday night, "due to a recent change in the trajectory in the plume of volcanic ash." The president was originally scheduled to stay overnight in Ireland. Obama’s London schedule will continue as planned including meetings with Queen Elizabeth and British Prime Minister David Cameron. Obama will also visit France and Poland on the week-long trip. This isn't the first time the president's international travel has been waylaid by a volcano. Last November, the president was forced to shorten his visit to Indonesia because of fears that volcanic ash spewing from Mount Merapi could have grounded Air Force One. |

Wow most people would be glad that they get to stay longer on vacation. But our president shouldnt have been on vacation. He should have been running the country. Thats what presidents do.
Is it just me or did this not happen last year...... Obama cutting a Europe trip short because of this same reason, shortly after airspace was close for days. I wonder.......

Mr.President,this must be Trip 300 either within the U.S. or overseas.What is your problem with staying in the White House and working.All your Field Trips are just "Dog and Pony" shows for Fund Raising or to enhance your image in the world,not the United States since you talk us down on a continuous basis.Maybe the Volcano is a sign from"Mother Earth" telling you to go home.You must have the "American Express Black Card" with no credit limit on travel for the U.S.Government but hey,keep racking up those air miles while there are people in this country who are losing their homes and unemployment insurance is running out.Just keep having a good time on the Taxpayers dime.

The volcano ashes are not even near his planned route. On top of that he brought his own beer because he didn't trust the Irish brew and managed to get his car stuck on a speed bump. 2012 can't come fast enough. The man is a joke.
Guest, I am sure you do not like the president, but you really need to understand more before you write. However, I agree with you on the 2012 approach. I can not wait to vote for him again!
And many of us who voted for him the last time can't wait to hold our noses and vote against him. His challengers are terrible, but we can't do 4 more years with this guy, especially given the fact that he will know he doesn't have to run again and has nothing to lose pushing more of his left leaning policies.

No, if you want to go there, technically, he is a US PRESIDENT. He's not expected by normal thinking AMERICANS to be subordinate to them. Answerable maybe, but subordinate never. Subordination means 'under', he's 'over'. He presides 'over' the people of Congress we vote for and send to WASHINGTON to 'so-called' represent us!
