All in a day's work

President Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron play table tennis with students of the Globe Academy school in London. "We may to switch it up," Obama said after the duo lost a few points to their younger counterparts. "You can't have the old guys against the young."

When are you gassing up the ride and heading to Joplin to help out?

Stop Whining about Joplin. Last year, you wanted the President to either lower the Gulf of Mexico or personally dive a mile deep to stop the BP oil spill. Now you "keep the Government away from my wealth" tea bagging babies want the Government and President to coddle Missouri, Alabama, and Texas because of natural disasters. Man up – Move on – and stop looking for the President to pat you on your head. Stand tall and rebuild.

You should check out the GOPs/Republicans if you really want to see people that do no care. You are blinded by the fact that you only looking at party lines. When the fact is that the current Republicans is not the same as the old traditional Republicans. This new breed of Republicans DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR THE WORKING CLASS. What is appalling is that even in the mist of such hardship, turmoil, and loss of human life....the Republicans are DO NOT want to help them out b/c they claim it will cost too much money. They are playing politics with human lives. God forbid that you even come across such hardship as those folks there ONLY to find no one is offering any help/assistance b/c the Republicans only care about the wealthy. Please OPEN your eyes b/c currently the only people standing to fight for you are the Democrats and if don't recognize it then it will be tragedy when the day comes and you realize it but will be too late b/c you are now an elderly person with all your rights to health/medical care all striped away year after year by the Republicans/GOP.

BoB S of PA: How old are you? Why don't you take your big self down to Joplin?

      May 25, 2011 at 1:32 pm |
    • XWngLady

What a ridiculous statement! If the President had to "cut something short" everytime there was a natural disaster, he'd never get anything done. He has dispatched the folks in his administration that can actually DO SOMETHING and they are already there coordinating assistance. He will be there on Friday. Why does everything always have to happen on Republicans' timeline? Let the President do his job...ALL of his job, not just the parts that you like or agree with.

Who said the Pres don't care about the people in Jolpin? The Pres stays up to date on the issue. He's in another country and what can he do if he returns early. Think please, that is why we have FEMA.

You should really go take a GED English class or something to learn how to write in complete sentences. "To Joplin and show them people", you have got to be kidding!!! Stupid comments by stupid people can and will always be ignored

I thought that Liberals were suppose to be tolerant. Why is it always a Liberal that puts people down for spelling errors, or sentence structure? Maybe the poster is not a native English writer. That Liberal hate gene runs deep.

Oh please. The rabid right does the same thing. That doesn't make it right, but please don't act as if the Republicans have cornered the market on courtesy and tolerance.

Yes, Mr. Obama. Please cut short your previously planned trip. We don't care if you were already in England when this happened! Just run in the phone booth, put on your cape and get your ass back here! We'd have this mess cleaned up tomorrow if you were here. We'd find every missing person if you were here. Our town would be up and running today if you were here!! Make up your freakin' minds people! YOU want him to be POTUS when it satisfies or helps you!! When its business as usual you can't stand him and you know it!! Ask some Katrina survivors about presidential response!!

I bet you and your teabaggers would have blamed him any which ways he move. You can't stand that people lvoe him all over the world, unlike Bush. Get used to it. Don't worry Bob, on Sunday POTUS stop over (not just fly over like Bush did for Katrina with 1000 times worse disaster) liek he always did.

President Bush declared a state of emergency in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi two days before the hurricane made landfall. The Coast Guard prepositioned resources in a ring around the expected impact zone. The Democrat Gov. and Democrat Mayor refused to utilize the federal services.

Jay, get your limited knowledge of facts right. Bush three bigest blunders were: starting an unnecessary war at Iraq (4000+ our soldiers killed and trillion cost, running up several trillions debt and the third one is clueless response to Katrina (attending fund raisers, you are doing hell of a job Brownie...).

What is untrue about my post?

Here are some more facts you do not want to hear.
Barry expanded the Afghanistan war from President Bush's 20,000 soldiers to now over 120,000. Also more people have died under Barry's command in Afghanistan.

President Bush negotiated the end date for the Iraq war before he left office. Barry extended the Iraq war by more than 1 1/2 years, still fighting, soldiers still dying.

Hey! I'm in full agreement with all of these: @America First Above Party, XWngLady, Carl, 4commonsense and Big Game James. Alice, that is a good suggestion. I hope he reads, and at least consider it; since he's claiming to be so upset at the PRESIDENT about it. I'm sure it doesn't matter to our esteemed, compassionate PRESIDENT, one way or the other; and it shouldn't; but I wonder if old Bob S checked to see if the people in Joplin remembered OBAMA at election time in 2008, since he brought it up?!? LOL!

Jay, I don't know if you're talking to me but from what I've found in my 'research', I found where Bush actually declared war on IRAQ on March 19, 2003. It seemingly was ratchetted up all the way to May 1, 2003. The fighting was steady and strategic on into November. Bush made a surprize Thanksgiving visit to IRAQ on November 28, 2003. There was never a true end date set by BUSH. It was 'iffy'. There was NOT a firm date set. There was no line drawn in the sand. McCAIN even said we could be there until 2013.

.S.-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement (official name: "Agreement Between the United States of America and the Republic of Iraq On the Withdrawal of United States Forces from Iraq and the Organization of Their Activities during Their Temporary Presence in Iraq") is a status of forces agreement (SOFA) between Iraq and the United States. It establishes that U.S. combat forces will withdraw from Iraqi by June 30, 2009.

On November 17, 2008, the Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari and U.S. ambassador Ryan Crocker signed the agreement in an official ceremony.

This was before Barry took office.

      May 26, 2011 at 4:01 pm |
  9. Liz Carter in Georgia

Contd: PRES OBAMA is the one who actually drew the line in the sand on IRAQ. He said on FEBRUARY 27, 2009, a few weeks after he was inaugurated that the actuall combat drawdown date would be by AUGUST 31, 2010 and if my memory serves me right, that is what occurred. OBAMA said he would leave advisors and trainers there, but we would or should be completely and totally out of IRAQ by the end of 2011. We are still in 2011! So why do you keep trying to give BUSH credit for dates ending the IRAQ WAR?

    May 26, 2011 at 1:33 pm |
    • Jay in NC

Because President Bush did end the Iraq War, Barry expanded and extended the dates.

      May 26, 2011 at 4:03 pm |
  10. Liz Carter in Georgia

Contd: Pres Obama left up to 50,000 troops in IRAQ, to stay work and train until the end of 2011! He brought many of the troops home, who were battle-fatigued, PTSD, lamed, and just plain tired and broken down from all of the repeated re-deployments they had to withstand under the BUSH REGIME! Yes, OBAMA did transfer troops from IRAQ; I'm sure the ones who were still fairly fresh or who wanted to go to AFGHANISTAN! Yes, he did send in more troops to that region based on the intel he was left by BUSH!

    May 26, 2011 at 1:47 pm |
  11. Liz Carter in Georgia

Contd: AFGHANISTAN, after all is where BIN LADEN was supposed to be hiding out in, remember? Many of us laymen, even non-military were wondering what had happened to the focus on that place. Saddam hadn't knocked down the towers in NEW YORK. We really didn't have any idea it was an all encompassing reason of also using this opportunity to drag out barrells of oil from IRAQ. Yet the prices went up! And are still going up! OBAMA escalated AFGHANISTAN only on the mission of catching and killing BIN LADEN.

    • Jay in NC

Trying to rewrite history Liz? No one equated Saddam Hussein with the twin towers. The UN passed a resolution to remove him from office because he had murdered his own people. Sound a lot like Libya today. Almost every nation at the time called for him to be removed. Even England, you know the country you are so proud of for bestowing your guy love and affection. President Bush asked congress, they all agreed, including now Secretary of State, Hillary. Vice President O'Biden. Even Barry gave a speech saying the Iraq War was just.

I have always taken the position that President Bush had proper authority, however we should not have got involved. Just like Libya, we should leave them to their own problems.

You have said so many lies and untruths in your post, I will just have to leave it up to history to see the truth.

  12. Liz Carter in Georgia

Contd: However, by the time focus is put back on AFGHANISTAN, where BIN LADEN was supposedly hold up, It just turns out to be the last place BUSH and his groupies knew he was! Bush said he didn't care or wasn't still focusing on that one man; that he wasn't renting space in his mind anymore, so to speak! OBL had moved on. Under the OBAMA leadership, we had to dig around and find out where the man had moved to, find him, set up the stage to get him and you all still right turn around and claim BUSH got him!

Even though Barack Obama's the President of the United States right now, his haters, including 'media', always seems to debunk or dismiss anything that may potentially show him in a good light, and hype up even the littlest thing that may show him in a bad light! It's always BUSH when something's most likely to be percieved by the masses and the world as positive, completed, and good! It's always OBAMA when something's most likely to be percieved by the masses and the world as negative, incomplete, and bad!

I'm just waiting for the right – or should I say the wrong – to acknowledge that they cared NOTHING about any type of responsibility in regards to the federal government before 1/20/2009.

What lies did I tell Jay? When all else fails, in order for you to have the 'last word' in a bebate or conversation you quickly start calling me a liar. I said from the research I got........, the statements that I made in my earlier comments were based on that and plain old common sense. No since in you trying to equate Pres Obama, not 'Barry', Secretary of State Clinton, not Hillary, and Vice President Biden, not O'biden with being so agreeable with; they've all regretted making that decision with BUSH!

Thanks Desmera (also from NC) for that question and your comments. NO! he won't. @Jay, no I'm not rewriting history one little bit. Are you going to sit there and act like you didn't know people were confused or were questioning the sudden focus from OBL to HUSSEIN? The timeliness of it anyway, and on top of that, you talk about LIES!? NO WMDs, yet no OBL? All the while OBL, the 'alleged 'orchestrator of 911 is running loose and free to move about from cave to cave, mountain to mountain, country to country.

Liz, you were just not paying attention to the news at the time, or you choose to not remember the order of events. I have tried many times to remind you, you are just hellbent on re-writing it to favor your cause.

There was not sudden focus on Hussein, he had been a thorn in Americans side from Desert Strom days. He had continued to dismiss UN Resolutions, bragged to the US that he had Nuclear Weapons, and more importantly continued to kill his own people. After 9/11 America woke up, we became more sensitive to the nations that had threatened us. They did have the capability and desire to use WMD. That coupled with the then recent events of 9/11 made for a bad situation. President Bush, congress, UN and most of the world wanted Hussein removed. He was removed, tried and hanged.

Iraq and Afghanistan are and were always two separate problems, dealt with two different ways. All of that was in the past. Now the world has a new set of questions. Why did Barry move over 100,000 soldiers to Afghanistan? OBL was in in Pakistan all along. Why did not he know this? Does that make Barry a fool? Why is Barry still fighting a war, looking for OBL?

Now please remind us of why he is trying to remove Libyan president? Does he have WMDs, is he hiding OBL, or is it for the oil?

      May 30, 2011 at 4:46 pm |
  17. Liz Carter in Georgia

Jay, I did watch the news and those are my views. I am in no way trying to rewrite history. Yes, I remember BUSH saying when he first went in he was going to get Saddam, because he threatened his daddy. Now I know Saddam was a thorn in our side, but Saddam didn't bring the towers down in New York. The BUSH REGIME should have been focused solely on the one they alleged was responsible and the who claimed he was responsible for that sad day, OSAMA bin LADEN; but NO! He took that opportunity to get into IRAQ!

    June 1, 2011 at 8:30 am |
  18. Liz Carter in Georgia

Jay, I've explained my view to you before why I believe he sent those troops to AFGHANISTAN. The intel he had showed that OBL's hold up was still there! During all of the time, money and lives wasted in IRAQ, the man was moving around from pillar to post at will. OBL probably saw BUSH standing up there on tv saying to us and the world that he wasn't concerned about where he was anymore! So, OBL's last known hold-up was in AFGHANISTAN! The last intel on the man showed he was there. OBAMA had to use it first!

Weren't you all concerned that GADHAFI, the evil dictator, and his band of hoodlums were over there fightong and killing his own people trying to stay in power over them; and that the people wanted their independence and freedom? Didn't many of you on this blog post angry berations and batter this PRESIDENT for not getting in over there and putting a stop to the inhumane treatment fast enough to suit you? Well we are there for humantarian reasons and not for 'vital national interests'; Oil or drugs!
