Oops: Obama signs wrong year at Westminster Abbey?

A message written by President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in a guest book during their visit to Westminster Abbey Tuesday has the day right but appears to be three years off.

The message reads, "It is a great privilege to commemorate our common heritage and common sacrifice."

A Westminster Abbey spokesperson confirmed to The Telegraph that the president himself wrote the date.

Ugghh... looks like he started to write 2007 and changed it to 2008.

More proof he's smarter than Bush I guess?

Do you think this would be a front page story if the "stupid" George W. Bush had done it?

How can someone as "intelligent" as Barack Hussien Obama not know what year it is?

And the US has 57 states! What else can we expect from him?

Does that read 2008? I think Barry longs for the time when all the world loved him.

    Different pen. Different handwriting.

President Obama signs A LOT of books. Google if you don't believe me.
Now find one other signature that he also dated and that's in the same handwriting.

    Good luck...

You also confirm that he doesn't know how to use punctuation marks because in your write up you left out his extraneous comma after heritage.

Two amazingly stupid gaffes in one very short moment for the world's smartest human.

Hey Mooney! You asking us if he did?! You can see in the picture he did. Stop acting so surprised. Your boy's a dummy. If this was GWB or Palin, CNN would have this on the front home page.

CNN, for whatever reason, left out the comma.

    May 24, 2011 at 10:08 pm |

Their reason for leaving out the comma is a good one, as there is no comma needed in that sentence.

CNN White House Producer Alexander Mooney states the message reads, "It is a great privilege to commemorate our common heritage and common sacrifice." No, Mr. Mooney it doesn't. Obama placed a comma after the word heritage. You wrote the sentence correctly. The President did not. This is beyond embarrassing.

I'm no detective... but the date is written in the European format of Day/Month/Year, its printed in all capitals as opposed to the cursive writing above and it's a thicker line than either Obama's signature and writing. I don't think its written by either of them. I'm sure there are experts who can verify it one way or another... seems like that would be a good thing to check with prior to running this story.

Liz, Barry did in fact say that he had been to 57 states. Take a look at this youtube video.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH02DtIws

This is how you will play the game 1) you tell someone that they are wrong. 2) that person proves that you are wrong. 3) you then give some smart remark about President Bush. 4) you then proceed to call everyone a hater and or racist.

See Jay you were wrong. He said that they had "traveled" to 57 states no that there are 57 states. He then points out that the only states that they have not traveled to are Alaska and Hawaii. Which means that there are *59* states – not 57. I hate it when people misquote our elected leaders. On the plus side if we can get one more state in the Union we will have an even 60!

You can't be serious. Even the Dems are turning on him. What has he done as President? Nothing, that's what. Unless you want to look at how he's driven the economy into the toilet. It looks like he signed 200B, not 2008. Interesting.

Yeah Liz, the world loves bho because the world "loves it's own" He is a thin veneer of a man with a fractured character. People voted for him and love him because they think he will give them a freebee, sitting on the porch waiting on their gummint cheeze. Look at the foolishness of inviting some punk rapper into the whitehouse. How disgusting that the obamas have absolutely no respect for the office of the President. They are absolute toads. WAKE UP!

Liz, get your head out of the sand. 1. Who cares what the world loves, he's not the President of the world. 2. He's a clown and people like you refuse to admit you were wrong for voting for him, you were taking in by wanting to vote for the black guy without ever giving him due diligence. He is destroying this country with his policies and boy king decision making.
Do yourself and this country a favor and conduct some objective research on your own and quit believing everything you see on the left wing media. Obama is a Socialist and Socialism has never worked for any country. Look around you. The world is collapsing financially and it's due to failed Socialist policies.

Jay, I remember his mis-speak about the 57 states, but does that take away from the possibility that he is in fact an intelligent man about everything else he does? All I was saying was if that's all you people have on him to denounce the fact that he was a MAGNA CUM LAUDE graduate of HARVARD, is ridiculous! Many politicians have been guilty of gaffes, but their feet aren't held to the fire forever for them. If they are put out to the masses at all, we get a good laugh about it and move on! I know I do!

@No One Is Listening To You; If you take the time to address me, you must be listening to me. I can say the same thing to you about your conservative media outlets! I do research and I'm wondering if you folk even know what socialism is. If you have a social security number, you're a socialist in these United States, taxes is socialism, most hospitals are subsidized under socialism, most things that fall under health, education or welfare is socialism; even prisons, socialized medicines, group insurances..

    May 25, 2011 at 6:28 pm |
  24. Liz Carter in Georgia

You can't have it both ways. Are you wealthy enough to take care of every one of your needs and your family's needs from now own, with not one 'ounce' of socialism in these UNITED STATES? Well if you are you are blessed; But there are the poor who live among us who are not able. They need socialized medicines, housing, food, assistance, medicaid health insurance; social security checks, social security disability checks are socialism, social utility co-optness, are socialism! Throw them under the bus? huh?

Jay, you've often tried to put me out here on this blog as a person who's 'only' focused on calling EVERYBODY a racist! That is simply not the whole truth. I will admit to calling out race-baited and biggotted commenters, who blow out personal attacks stereotyping the OBAMAS and aligning them with the disenfranchied, unstudied, not-so-well-read, economically disabled, lower classes of the Black people in AMERICA. One reason though, much of the rhetoric lodged at OBAMA was not lodged at BUSH, so why is that?

    May 25, 2011 at 7:44 pm |
    • Jay in NC

Liz, you say "much of the rhetoric lodged at OBAMA was not lodged at BUSH" Please name one specific complaint lodged at Barry that you think was not at President Bush.

      May 26, 2011 at 7:41 am |
  26. Liz Carter in Georgia

You want just one? OK. Something as simple as the ongoing spasmadic, disenfranchising attempts to limit or stop this PRESIDENT'S usages of the same presidential 'perks' all other previous Presidents have been afforded! The perpetual 'put down' of envious, hateful, rhetorical comments made by you 'Barry' haters, everytime PRESIDENT OBAMA even thinks of stepping up onto AIRFORCE ONE or MARINE ONE to go anywhere. I guess you all expect him to drive, catch a taxi or take a Greyhound Bus, sitting in the back?!?!

    May 26, 2011 at 12:01 pm |
    • Jay in NC

President Bush was berated for flying on Air-force One and Marine One, especially when he visited fund raisers. Here are some examples of how it was covered at the time.

      May-31-2004 Democratic Underground
WASHINGTON – President George W. Bush is using Air Force One for re-election travel more heavily than any predecessor.
      http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104×1694844

      Aug 2005 AP report.
WASHINGTON (AP) – Getting President Bush from here to there consumes an enormous amount of fuel, whether he's aboard Air Force One, riding in a helicopter or on the ground in a heavily armored limousine. The bill gets steeper every day as the White House is rocked by the same energy prices as regular drivers. Taxpayers still foot the bill.

There are 100s of stories like these, each decrying the president using taxpayer dollars for travel. Many of us posted, back-in-the-day, that we did not agree with government spending for personal gain. We are now doing the same with this president. The only difference is you. You do not want anyone for any reason to say bad things about your guy. You hardly ever offer any counter argument. Only call us, haters, and racist. Sorry, but that is getting old. You can not play the race card forever.

Even today, 2 1/2 years after he left office, President Bush is attacked and ridiculed. Is that because the Left is racist? That you do not like old white guys? I am beginning to think so. You all will praise Barry for doing one thing, and when President Bush did the exact same thing he is hated. The only difference, the color of his skin. Racism still exits, it exist in the hearts of Liberals.

  27. Liz Carter in Georgia

Jay, did you read with comprehension my whole answer? You asked me to name one and I did. I noted 'the ongoing, spasmadic, disenfranchising attempts to limit or stop......'; read it again! I don't know of any liberals nor conservatives that complained about Bush's traveling in any of the aircraft or limo to the level of degree that you and the other haters cry about PRES OBAMA! I know I didn't. Furthermore, the media didn't even run in behind Bush's each and every flinch or move anyway! No transparency!

    May 27, 2011 at 1:24 am |
  28. Liz Carter in Georgia

Honestly, I didn't even know about the website nor the other place you claimed Bush's travels were mentioned, but that must have been all! MENTIONED! It wasn't perpetually thrown out on mainstream nor conservative newsmedia with the intent to deliberately set up grounds for further negativity, chaos, controversy, belittling, hate, and abusive anti-Bush bloggers to have a field day at his Presidential expense. That's exactly what you folk keep doing to OBAMA, and an honest blind white man can see that!

    May 27, 2011 at 1:56 am |
  29. Liz Carter in Georgia

As far as the rest of your comment, I can say the very same thing to you; you all praised BUSH on many things or at the least, you didn't question his final decisions on quite a few issues, that you now make it your businesses or daily missions to put-down, denounce, critique, pick-apart and question each and every way OBAMA decides to go on every issue, left or right; anything, everytime, anywhere! Most of my comments have been about that, especially to you Jay. They've often been... 'Bush did it too'!

    May 27, 2011 at 2:22 am |
  30. Liz Carter in Georgia

Stop trying to flip the script on racism Jay. It's not working for me anyway. For every action there's a reaction. You all like to claim 'reverse' racism. Well case closed! There's still an obvious, blatant real racist problem in this society. I'd have to say it was in somewhat of a remission until OBAMA won the PRESIDENCY. OMG! All hell broke loose! Yes, I will be playing that card as long as I see it! BTW, liberal hearts aren't racists, some racist hearts may be liberals; but racists are racists!

    May 27, 2011 at 3:00 am |
  31. Liz Carter in Georgia

From what I have observed, it seems that the conservative RIGHT are the most racist. People like FAUX NEWS, BECK, LIMBAUGH, COULTER, GRAHAM, many of CNN, quite a few bloggers prove it everyday. I point it out because I KNOW what most of the complaints against this president are based on and I am not afraid to say it. If that makes me a racist, then I'm a racist! Whatever it takes you all feel good about yourselves. It sure does make me feel good to tell the truth about the situation!

    May 27, 2011 at 3:13 am |
    • Jay in NC

      Explain this to me, please.

      1) Liberals complained that President Bush would not close GTMO. Said that he was an idiot for not closing it.
      2) Barry promised that he would close GTMO.
      3) Jan 22, 2009, Barry signed an executive order to close GTMO. Said he was 'bringing America back to her moral high ground.'
      4) 2 1/2 years later GTMO is still open. Now Barry is saying it may never be closed.

That brings us to today. I complain that Barry has not closed the place, as promised, as would be the right thing to do. How is that racist? It was wrong for President Bush, it should also be wrong for Barry. What does race have to do with this issue?

Now please spare me the rhetoric about that Barry may have learned something from the time of being president. If that was true then Liberals would need to apologize to President Bush (that would never happen). This issue is clear, Barry is wrong. It has nothing to do with race. If it does it is the Liberals that hate white President Bush, even when he does the same as Barry.

Add this to your Liz list. “Chalaque,” Scotland Yard’s codename for the president on his U.K. visit, means “smart aleck”, or worse. Didn't you claim that they respected and liked him?

      May 27, 2011 at 10:51 am |
  32. Liz Carter in Georgia

Liberals weren't the only ones requesting the close of Gitmo! There was a cross-section of Americans asking that it be closed. That included conservatives, independents, whites, blacks, others, even media pundits and contributors on all sides, politicians on both sides; anyone who was a political observer, especially when the question came up of how much it was costing American taxpayers to hold it open! That really sounds more like conservatism, right? Problem was nobody wanted them housed in their towns!

    May 27, 2011 at 11:35 am |
    • Jay in NC

Wrong again Liz, Thomas Correctional Center, 150 miles west of Chicago, wanted to house them. In fact Barry signed an executive order for the Attorney General to purchase the nearly vacant prison.

      http://articles.cnn.com/2009-12-15/us/gitmo.illinois_1_guantanamo-detainees-guantanamo-bay-naval-base-illinois-prison?_s=PM:US

      The questions still remain.
Was President Bush wrong for not closing GTMO? If so why is not Barry wrong?
If President Bush was right, then why are the Liberals not willing to apologize?

Racism, hate the white man. That is the Liberal way.

None of us including yourself, if you told the truth, owes BUSH an apology on GITMO! You haven't proved yourself to be the 'smartest guy' in America either, you know; maybe the 'smartest a$S one'! LOL! I know you Obama haters will give an arm and a leg to have the whole world hate Pres Obama and The First Lady the way you do, but the world doesn't view them from the same indifferent perspective and historical background as you all do. Oh, they've heard about it; they see the not-so-well-hidden racism, but most 'elite intellect' don't care to play into it! When I say you all, that includes some Americans of conservative and liberal leanings. However, I was taught that Action Speaks LOUDER Than Words, Jay!

Looks like the year 7008 to me. And the way he wrote 24 May is common in the UK, but definitely not the way an American would write a date. I suspect someone else wrote that in...and if not, who cares!? Everyone makes silly mistakes all the time!

    May 27, 2011 at 12:58 pm |

The whole world doesn't hate him yet, but give them time. He has pissed off at least 3 countries just this month. I figure by the end of next year he'll be toast.

  37. Dina K

Bush winked at the queen and was labeled a moron. Obama continues a toast after the anthem starts playing and didn't know the day or year. He asked for the date, which the 'journalist" left out of his blurb, and was told that it was the 24th, Obama proceeded to write the year as 2008. If this were splashed all over the mainstream the way every Bush gaffe was, Obama would be considered an idiot, too. The media always portrays and hypes up Repub mistakes, but always downplay Dem idiocy.

    May 28, 2011 at 3:18 pm |
  38. Liz Carter in Georgia

Jay, when BUSH was still in office and even when OBAMA was elected, states were still saying...'don't bring'em here', 'we don't want'em in our backyards'! You're right! Evidently, between the time of his election, Nov, 2008 and Dec, 2009, the OBAMA administration WAS able to find someone to take them! Illinois accepted them; OBAMA signed the order! So there! Isn't that much more than BUSH did? What more can this man do? Go move'em himself? You don't know what the transition requires or how long it takes!

    May 29, 2011 at 11:40 am |

"more than BUSH did"? You have a bizarre way of twisting history. Barry did not 'find someone to take them' the town volunteered the location. Barry agrees with President Bush but you still see it as Barry is right and President Bush is wrong. The only difference is the skin color. You hate white presidents.

Barry made many promises, Barry has failed, he is a liar and a cheat. President Bush did exactly what he said he would do, he is a man of his word.

      May 29, 2011 at 5:15 pm |
  39. Liz Carter in Georgia

I, who am a proud liberal, personally never did verbalize disdain against BUSH for not closing GITMO. I remember all of the controversy over it; states not wanting them what not, but my thoughts on it back then was that as usual, the greedy 'secret' benefactors, investors and owners of that property wanted to continue on recieving their federally subsidized 'taxpayer money' for holding it open! The attorney general may still be having legal conflicts to fight with the 'greedy bloodsuckers'! Money Talks!

    May 29, 2011 at 12:08 pm |
  40. Liz Carter in Georgia

Jay, it was alleged that there was a hunt or a call out for someone to step up and take the GITMO prisoners under the BUSH administration. NOBODY WANTED THEM THEN! I guess noone 'volunteered'. That validated to me reasonable justification as to why the thing was still open. Oh, but then all of a sudden, under the OBAMA administration, a state volunteers; Illinois, his own home state volunteers! Now what does that tell you, if anything? I said I wasn't one of the ones out screaming for it's closure anyway!

    May 30, 2011 at 8:29 am |
  41. Liz Carter in Georgia

You're the one that's stuck on GITMO, not me. You're the one who spews out character assassinations against OBAMA because it's not closed yet! I never indicated anywhere on any post that I was mad at BUSH because he didn't close it. I never said he was wrong for not closing it! I just told you why I understood it was still open. You've been jumping on OBAMA about it ever since the man got there. I'm sure I did say to you somtime or the other 'Well, Bush didn't close it'; not to say he was right or wrong!

You have a bizarre way of fliping the script on racism. How can you sit up and type such a blatant lie like that, when every president I've been able to vote for in my whole voting life have been white? I've 'liked' most of them; and appreciated what good the nation may have been afforded because of them! Because of my age, 12, of course we didn't have the Voting Rights Act anyway until 1965, I was unable to vote for him but I loved JFK! I liked Carter, Reagan and even GHWB; jused loved CLINTON! YOU LIE!

'Barry agrees with President Bush but you still see it as Barry is right and President Bush is wrong'. Really? If you believe that, then why aren't you in agreement with 'Barry', for being in agreement with 'President' Bush? That's your 'President'! He's right even when he's wrong! You can twist history around enough to give him a 'justifiable' explanation for his decisions and actions! YOU can't give Pres Obama credit on ONE thing! First time black man EVER to sit as president; you hate black presidents!

'He's a man of his word'? What word? That there were WMDs in IRAQ and we needed to go there to secure them? Ooops! I'm sorry. We really were avenging 911 in Iraq; we were going after OBL, but No! He was found to be in Aghanistan! Well, we'll just go get him later. These words? 'I don't know where he is, I'm not worried about him; Al Quaeda stretches further than him! He's just one man! Heh-heh'! Was it these? We need to get this oil out of here; go ahead and get SADDAM and that money too since we're here!

The bottom line is....Barry made a promise, vote for him and he would close GTMO. Jan 22, 2009, signed executive order to close GTMO, proclaiming to the world that this would 'return America to her moral ground.' Yet, GTMO is still open, broken promises and lies.

Jay, do you have to be so flippant? You know full well PRES OBAMA hasn't taken up arms, climbed up into a warship to bomb anybody, anywhere! I searched your claim about the 12 children last week. I found that on MAY 25, 2011 according to a Libyan official, it was 3 civilians. BTW, there was no mention of them being children either. NATO warships bombed a facility that was used by GADHAFI to attack and kill his own people. FYI, the count ended up that day to be 19 civilians; must've been Gadhafi's army!?

Afghan saying 10 children killed. It is being investigated. On the same day in Libya 2 children were killed.

Fascinating how you blame President Bush for the death of civilians however do not hold Barry accountable for doing the same thing. We have no reason to be in Afghanistan, Libya or Iraq. What happened to diplomacy? What happened to talk to anyone any time to solve the worlds problems. All Barry knows how to do is push a button.

It is also fascinating how Liberals want us to believe that Barry him self killed OBL, however do not hold him accountable when children are killed. Is he in charge or not? Is he just a puppet?

I did NOT blame BUSH nor any other president for killing anybody! I only flipped the script back to you who's adamant on keeping this president in a non-compassionate, irresponsible bad light; by accusing him of murder! I said that is what happens in war, conflicts, and revolts. I reminded you of all the civilian lives that were lost under BUSH and many other presidents. Were they killers? What's the difference now? We went into Libya for some of the same reason Bush said he went to Iraq! HUMANITARIANISM!

The whole nation, black, white and other gave BUSH his 'props' and accolades on getting HUSSEIN. 'BUSH GOT SADDAM'! 'HE GOT HIM'! Oh, nothing but accolades, pomp and circumstance! 'GO BUSH'! I even said the same thing since I knew we were going to have to get him sooner or later. However, when OBAMA gets OBL, OH NO! You conservatives can't have that going down in AMERICAN history without a lot of 'drag' on it! I don't know anybody who claims OBAMA killed OBL! He got him just like BUSH got HUSSEIN!.
