Boehner, Cantor talk Obama meeting![]() House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor, among others, debriefed reporters after their meeting with President Obama earlier Wednesday. "The fact that if we're gonna raise the debt limit the spending cuts should exceed the increase in the debt limit. Otherwise it'll serve to cost us jobs in our country," Boehner said, reiterating the position the GOP has held during the debt ceiling negotiations. |

Do not raise the debt limit. 28% of our debt is directly due to Barry's spending. That is 4 trillion out of 14 trillion. Force him to stop spending our future money! He is bankrupting our country. Cut up his credit card before it is to late.
Well from what I can tell the Republicans are standing by the Bush Tax Cuts! No matter what, they are going to make sure the rich stay rich. They don't give a hoot about the poor or the 'just getting by' Americans. They are prepared to run grandma over the cliff if it means rolling back the taxcuts. That's really not raising taxes, that's taking back a 'tax loophole' that they've enjoyed for years. That way they will be paying their just amount like everybody else. They aren't creating jobs with the money!
However, Jay, I do have to thank you for stating the fact that 28%, 4 trillion, rather than 14.3 trillion has been spent under his watch. There are so many lies told by conservative bloggers, claiming OBAMA had spent the whole amount. Also, I still believe every dime of it was spent in genuine effort to save the nation from falling on off the cliff. Wall Street, GM, much of the mortgage problem, unemployment, creating some jobs, but for people to continue on the path of blaming OBAMA for jobs is assinine.
The 'Government' doesn't make jobs! The government can only 'create' 'government jobs'! The only thing it can do is encourage private enterprise to create them by giving initiatives to banks to loan money to business owners and entrepreneurs to do that. As I said earlier, I don't see where private enterprise and even small business is doing that! The people who are getting those 'taxcuts' are the ones who own businesses. They won't even bring the jobs back from overseas, not to speak of creating more here!
I just watched two talkng heads on CNN speaking approvingly of Democrat strategy at not discussing social benefit cuts until AFTER the election. Doesn't CNN believe in democracy? Doesn't CNN believe in holding politicians accountable? Shouldn't this be discussed BEFORE the election? Also,, I see many comments/postings approving high taxes. Well, it's okay with me of Time Warner Inc. pays a 91% rate. Will CNN endorse that? I don't think so.
Raise the debt limit the United States does not welsh on its debts. The debt ceiling was raised 7 times under G W Bush, and we certainly wouldn't be in our current mess were it not for the 8 year mismanagement of G W Bush...it took us a good 20 years to dig out of the mess left by Ronald Reagan, and here we are again picking up the pieces of that voodoo economic myth called trickle down economics...or better described as welfare for the rich.
