It's because there's no more money to throw into the economy. Like nobody saw this one coming?

Gas prices effect every aspect of our economy and absolutely the mood of the country. Most of us did see this coming – since mid-spring we have been getting monthly news that the US oil companies have been breaking their own profits each month to the tune of multi-billions. This has a huge snowball effect – Manufacturer's cost of raw goods goes up, their transportation costs go up->they raise prices on their inventory to cover themselves and THEY DON'T HIRE for a few months. On the consumers' end -> demand for goods falls/they don't buy. And at the same time they aren't hired. Explains the drop in unemployment for May, and a dip their overall mood. Also – historically polls taken in summer months trend conservative. From June through about mid-September, it happens every year. What will we expect to see in the coming weeks? Gas prices have gone down, we can expect a slight pick up in sales. Hiring generally picks up in Q3. And we can expect the Republican candidate field to get hot & heavy between themselves as they position and establish themselves. Pass the popcorn.

This is not a repbulican or democrat problem!!!!! It is a US problem! Stop pointing at this party or that party. Lets start working together to fix the problem. These arguments over who got us here are just a waste of time. The problem at hand needs a fix and our leaders are not getting it done period

Hey now! We may be heading for a depression but at least we have Healthcare... I can remember ranting back in 2009 about why the hell we are worried about healthcare when people are losing their jobs. No jobs, no taxes. No taxes no healthcare. President Obama and congress were pushing their agenda and not looking out for the best interests of the country. The President has proven he doesn't know how to lead us out of this problem... He rather kill the patient to prove his way is best than doing what is actually needed.

The government is spending 7 billion more now than 2 years ago. Take the blinders off. As a small business owner I am about to put 3 more people out of work because I simply can't afford them. Our leaders in Washington travel constantly, have lavish dinners, spend on things we don't need and don't spend on things we do need. We need to keep voting them out until we put people in there who get it. Small business drives the economy, not big government.

Huh? So you're telling me that you were better able to maintain your 3 employees at the height of the recession as President Obama was just coming into office, than you are now? Rrright. Was your company solvent when the economy tanked or were you trying to expand with money that you didn't have? Our leaders ALWAYS travel constantly no matter who they are and do occassionally have lavish dinners to welcome and show our hospitality to other heads of state/government, which I would hope you want them to do. If a guest, especially an important one, came into your home, would you not give them the best that you had?

$20. in tax incentives per week for taxpaying individuals from this administration and they tout it like "it's not my fault, we gave the tax decreases the repubs asked for". What a joke. This administration needs to realize jobs are created by small business. $7 billion was spent and almost nothing to small businesses. BTW, where is that $7 billion? Our roads abd bridges still suck, at least around my neck of the woods. Fees, fines and local taxes are killing small business, not to mention food and gas prices. All of which this current administration chooses to do nothing about. Billions more to the the EU to help those countries, billions more above that to help middle east countries – this money should be goint to small business in this country. This is where the current leadership is failing us.

Huh? John are you on crack or are you just woefully misinformed? The Obama Administration eliminated all capital gains taxes on start-up and small businesses and provided you with a $500 tax credit per employee. $20 is gas and/or metrorail money for me. So, If you don't want it, I'll surely take it. Was your company solvent when the economy tanked or were you trying to expand with money that you didn't have? Fees, fines and local taxes didn't just magically jump up and exist when Pres. Obama came on the scene. Your roads didn't just get terrible overnight. Foreign aid has continued throughout every administration whether the economy was good or bad. Sounds like you need to have a heart-to-heart with your state and local leaders who likely used the stimulys money to balance their budgets and quit trying to blame everything on the President – who incidently has actually improved the economy from where it was in 2009 when he took office.

Taxes and Big Unions are the reasons why there are no jobs in the United States.

If I had a large business I would pick up and move, to get away from the Taxes that are lining those corrupt a** h**** pockets in Washington D.C. and Big Union demands for better benefits and higher pay.
