Obama takes his campaign to Broadway

Washington (CNN) – Democratic fundraisers are hoping the lyrics from the final song in the movie “Sister Act: “I will follow him, follow him wherever he may go,” will resonate with donors next week in New York City.  They are gearing up for President Obama’s unique fundraising venue on Broadway at a performance of Sister Act: The Musical.

As part of a push to raise re-election funds ahead of the Federal Election Committee’s June 30th quarterly fundraising deadline, Whoopi Goldberg will host a performance of the show in the president’s honor, Democratic sources tell CNN.

All proceeds from the ticket sales go to the Obama Victory Fund and the Democratic National Committee.  The cheap seats start at $250, one source said, but donors willing to shell out $10,000 will get their photo taken with the president.
Goldberg starred in the movie version of Sister Act and is a producer for the musical.  She supported Obama’s 2008 candidacy.

While in New York City, President Obama will also attend a fundraising gala with the LGBT community.

OH BOY! Two spirtters spitting on each other when they talk. No more Obama and no more "The View". Both stink like a manure patch. Even the Chinckens won't scratch.

So George – your a big "View" fan?
Not so long ago I really liked Woopie – now when I see her I change the channel. She is just another Dem who calls you a racist if you disagree with her politics. I wonder if people like her realize how many people of color they are calling racists?

Glenda, Glenda, Glenda, I can smell you from here. No wonder you are so familiar with manure. Ew!

For Jay in NC...boy they ain't kidding about people being slow in NC. Had you read the article, It is a FUND RAISER and no where does it say it is a charity event. He's on the same fundraising campaign that Congressman Ron Paul and Michelle Backwards, oops, Bachman are on. So far, with Romney and the rest of the Repub candidates, I don't remember anyone confusing their tour of the country to raise campaign money with donating to charity so what made you think Prez Obama's fundraisers were any different. Why does his have to be for charity and everybody else's is campaign fund raisers? What am I missing here?

I doubt if anyone would pay 10,000 to have their picture taken with you. (I agree with george)

That would be the worst mistake this country could possibly make.

Yet again you are misinformed. It is not deductible as charity, and bet your bippies people will donate anyway. Do you have a problem with that?

        Obama-Biden 2012.

Romney, Bachman, Paul,Gingrich and the rest of the potential Repub candidates are criss-crossing the country holding fundraising events. No problem. So why do you insinuate that President Obama, clearly in New York to raise funds for his campaign, should be their to raise money for charity?donate to charity.(Jay in NC and John!) Nothing in the article says anything about charity. IT IS A POLITICAL FUND RAISER! poopydos. He is using the same taxpayer dollars that Bachman and Ron Paul are using if anyone has a problem with him, they surely have one with all the presidents and Congressmen & women who run for re-election every year. They leave DC, go out into the world while still drawing a paycheck and using government facilities to get around on planes, staying at hotels, etc..

Perfect place for the Obuminator. Broadway where he can act as if he is a real leader, act as if he understands the factors that drive a capitalist society, he can act as if he understands basic micro and macro economics, where he can act as if he will win a second term. He has the perfect partner on broadway, the outrageous limousine liberal herself, someone who truly doesn't understand basic economics and who is pandering based not just on race but on socialist ideology. The rich left do that easily as they don't get it.

Are you signing up for the $35,800 plate or the $10,000 plate? Liz, only the very wealthy or retired government employees like yourself can afford this type of donation. Most of American can not. It is hard for us to relate to such extravagant spending. This just proves the point that Barry and his supporters are out of touch. That you all are rich and privileged and do not truly understand the middle class or the working poor.

Maybe you could find it in your heart to donate to a local church or charity. I am sure that they would be appreciate the money during these hard times.

Heavy on the baloney. Right! Are you a brainwashed Teanut who votes against his own best interest?

Only the ultra-rich right-wing conservative Rethugs are the rich and privileged in this country. The working middle class and the working poor vote GOP only when they vote against their own best interest. Otherwise, they know enough to understand the GOP doesn't represent their best interest. That is a simple fact.

I don't remember anybody worrying about what was going to happen to each and every dollar BUSH and CHENEY collected during their campaign fund-raisers; and more importantly, nobody seems to be concerned about where all of those 'dollars' went that they and all of their co-conspirators collected while in office; mostly coming from their business 'war' ventures! I wonder did that go to charity too, Jay! You sure have always worried about OBAMA and his money potential! I wonder why! Since you're not a racist!

LOL! I'm not signing up for any priced plate; neither the $250.00 one, nor the $10,000 one! The $35,800 one that you claimed either! I can't afford to go to the gala. If the plates were $100.00 dollars, I couldn't make it, but I don't begrudge those who can and thank God that some of us are able to go. Oh yeah, I don't remember ever really being able to go to any incumbent presidential fundraiser. I also don't remember crying about the ones who could. You're just grudgeful-hearted, hateful and jealous, Jay!

fandango, I meant to thank you for your posts. They again shine a light on the 'real' problem. @maikl, from the way you're complaining on every blog about your financial woes, your ex-coworkers' losing his house, etc, you'd better hope another Republican doesn't get back in WH. Oh, you hadn't seen nothing yet! Think! This whole financial drop started falling under the 8 years of BUSH. The bottom just fell on out as OBAMA was going in! He's been trying to catch an implosion in the air, with 0 Repug help!

You should've been out here helping Wooppie to complain about BUSH! That's where your troubles started! Many people were complaining about him, problem is there weren't enough and the ones that did were ignored anyway! It didn't make those REPUGS any difference one way or the other what we thought. One or two small demonstrations, but no Teaparty was drummed up! Nothing! Oh, but the one who's come in to try to fix the mess; and YES it takes money and time, you all 'complain like hell' about him, and LOUD!

"One or two small demonstrations" again those Liberal Lies.

I don't see how in the world any right-wing conservative can let the word LIE come up out of his or her mouth! Everybody knows if there's any group that carries that mantle, it's you folks! The GOP is KING of lies, sabotage, coersion and fabrications! That's why you all are so narcissisticly, yet arrogantly thrilled when you think you've caught any liberal in WASHINGTON or just on the blog on any miniscule thing; whether it be a word or a deed! It makes you all feel a little better about yourselves I guess!
