White House Cookout

The smell of burgers on the grill wafted into the press briefing room all afternoon on Monday. White House cooks were out grilling burgers in preparation for Wednesday's Congressional Picnic on the South Lawn. Apparently, the idea is to partially cook them to get the charcoal flavor and will be fully cooked in time for Wednesday night's festivities.

I am sure all the homeless and hungry in the DC Area will be invited. CNN, is it possible for you to put a price tag on these events/vacations/dinners/conferences/fundraisers/trips/visits/parties (I am sure I am missing some). Where are the dems on this? Couldn't this money be better spent maybe on the homeless/hungry/poor/people in disaster areas? When did it become ok to ignore people in bad situations by our governmnet and spend like crazy on crap like this that helps no one? For you libs – I am sure it was way before Bush...

John, I sure hope you were saying the same thing when the Bush Administration was in office. They were eating burgers during Hurrican Katrina!

I think many families will be holding a cookout for Father's Day. Lyndon Johnson was the first to hold a cookout on the White House lawn.

I disagree with John about this helping no one. John must have missed how networking does help, and yes John needs to quit posting and find a job. Or, is John being paid to post?

Yet in the next breath you and your kind complain that the poor and homeless are lazy and sorry and the government needs to cut out welfare! You all just claimed last week that welfare was doing more harm than good, because it creates a dependency! Yet, just because this president decides to give a Congressional picnic cookout, something that has been done before, you complain that that money could be better spent on the hungry and homeless! With all of the concern you spew, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR THEM?
