Briefing look-ahead: War Powers debate, Golf Summit

In light of the whole debate surrounding the War Powers resolution and whether U.S. forces are engaged in "hostilities," you can bet the latest news from Libya will dominate today's White House briefing:

Dafniya, Libya (CNN) - NATO acknowledged Sunday that an errant airstrike in Tripoli may have caused "a number of civilian casualties."

Libya's government had claimed earlier Sunday that nine people were killed and six injured when a NATO strike hit a residential neighborhood in the Libyan capital.

"This is cold-blooded murder," government spokesman Musa Ibrahim said at the scene in Tripoli. "Is this the protection of civilians? Is this really the search for peace and democracy in Libya, to attack peaceful neighborhoods of Tripoli?"

We can also be sure Jay Carney will get one or two questions on the so-called "Golf Summit" over the weekend:

Washington (CNN) – President Obama and Speaker Boehner found themselves on the same side for once Saturday – teaming up to beat Vice President Biden and Ohio Gov. John Kasich on the golf course in a nail-biter that was decided on the 18th hole.

What do you want to see answered?

This "not war" is not a war. The bombs and drones and other equipment are sent there in peace. We are now in 5 "actions" across the globe – only 3 are wars. WTF?

I always thought that in order to classify a war as 'A WAR', the 'LEADER' or PRESIDENT had to 'declare' it as such! This is not a first! It took years of men, women and children dying before our US leaders decided to officially upgrade the longest militaristic action, the 'VIETNAM CONFLICT' to 'VIETNAM WAR'. Even the 'KOREAN CONLICT' wasn't upgraded to the 'KOEREAN WAR', until after the 'VIETNAM WAR'! So, what's the difference? Grievous to say, potentially people die in ALL of it! Your pettiness is 'KING'!

If I remember the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts started out as Police Actions before they were upgraded to conflicts.

It is a shame that Liberals are so lax about these wars. Call it ice cream people are still being killed. Once the great Democrat Party stood for something, human rights, peace. Now they would rather let children die instead of criticizing their president. Hypocrites, wimps.

'Lax about these wars'? Read my comment? I already said....grievous to say, people potentially die in ALL of it; whatever you folk want to call them! 'Once the great Democratic Party stood for something; human rights and peace'. Well Jay, obviously we still do; as a matter of fact that's exactly why we entered into the international call for participation with NATO to enter EGYPT, LIBYA, and anywhere else there's no peace; where human/civil rights and liberties are being troddened on or denied!

Ask a military person how they like following and reporting to generals of other countries. Even Gates has said NATO is falling apart. We are not the police of the world. We can't even control our own major cities. Liberals don't have a clue.

When did we stop being police of the world, may I ask? Was it after BARACK OBAMA became President? All my life, that I was my impression. Everytime one of our boys were drafted and had to go, we kept saying that to one another! BUT NO! They had to go! We lost thousands! Now they've been volunteering to be 'police' which is still awful! AMERICA set her ownself up to be the WORLDS POLICE years ago! Now when did that change? We should've stepped down from that idea a long time ago! OH! 'National Vital Interest

Were congress to capitulate to Obama's flagrant violation of the war powers act, this might just be the last time they are able to.
