Michelle Obama and Desmond Tutu –working it out

First lady Michelle Obama has arrived in Gaborone, Botswana. But before leaving Cape Town, South Africa Mrs. Obama delivered a message to some youth in the country stressing the importance of exercise and sports while also emphasizing education to prevent the spread of HIV/Aids.  Joined by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Desmond Tutu, Mrs. Obama got to work showing the kids her workout skills.

Obama spends nearly half his presidency outside Washington , plans to travel more. Vacationer-in-Chief Spends $1.75 Million to Visit Hawaiian Chums. Obama has spent over $100 million taxpayer dollars flying around in Air Force One, and probably another $100 million on his entourage. Obama is just another tin-pot dictator living lavishly at the expense of his subjects.

Why do the dems continue to live in the past when they spew out information about the elderly and the poor being so needey? So you are telling us the money spent on this summer vacation couldn't have been better spent on the elderly and the poor? I know – everything is ok as long as the "O" family is involved.

You just don't seem to get it do you? Whining over nothing makes you look like petty racist, and not very intelligent ones at that. You must enjoy looking that way.

Laura Bush and her 23 year-old adult daughters went on a month long African trip and safari, in 2005, and Mrs.Bush visited Africa a total of 5 times visiting 10 countries, while GW was president. Hilliary Clinton and Chelsea went on a 6 nation two week African trip and safari, in 1997.

Actually the taxpayers only pay for portions of these trips that are directly related to the first lady's official visit and travel. Only the costs for the official delegation is paid by the government....the non-official members on the trip, and the safari portion is paid for by the Obama's. If they want to pay for other people to travel along then I'm good with that.

John...you need to check out: CRS Report for Congress RS21835 dated April 10, 2007 by L.Elaine Halchin...which breaks down what the President/Vice President's and their families are required to reimburse in expenses. This has been in place since the Reagan administration.

As for the security detail...granted ...but how do you secure only certain members of a traveling party, and not the rest? You do know that any travel group from the U. S. who are traveling with a reliable agency on an African Safari have a security detail? One of our local banks sponsors African Safari trips; the cost of the security guards are part of their fee....that is a fact. Besides who in their right mind would not recommend that they have security? YOU?

Furthermore, I can direct you to an online article on Shine for June 13, 2011 stating: "Michele Obama wears $29 Gap dress". Really $29, don't you think if we were paying for her dress we should have spent a might more? If it were the case that we have been paying for these things...then when did we ever make Nancy Reagan or Jacqueline Kennedy wear a $29 dress?

Gifts given by the First Family...a set of Presidential Seal Fell pony shanks, seedlings, seeds, a jar of honey from the White House lawn, and some DVD's... is this going to break us? Can you with a straight face tell me these are going to break this nation? Plus, the letters from the Royal Archives (the items given the First Family by the Queen) those will go into the National Archives, or a Presidential Library which become a part of our public trust. Whoa Hoo! This is the silliest complaint I've heard on your part...how much more petty do you want to be?

Mostly John, you are the loser, and a whiner.

What a hypocrite The Obama administration open the way of people with AIDS to enter the country and infest the American people, an now are talking about taking care not to get infested with this lethal disease. Now the US is the country with most exotic and resistant diseases in the World, and they talk about Health and don not know the word prevention

I understand that the Libs are living in their own world where this country has enough money and isn't going broke, but where do you draw the line on spending? We keep hearing the dems tell us "we have to raise taxes". Why, to pay for things like this? Maybe you are one of the 50% of Americans not paying any taxes at all (and not one of the so called rich paying 37% of federal taxes, not to mention state taxes, fees on everything and taxes on everything you try to do in business), but even you must see the insanity of all of this. These people are not royality – they work for us and are spending our money.
