Powell talks education

General Colin Powell and his wife Alma were at the White House today to talk about education with business leaders and administration officials.    The topic of the roundtable discussion was how to build on government and business partnerships aimed at improving the American education system.

After the meeting General Powell explained why the education system needs help now,  " A quarter of our kids don't finish high school, but a more troubling statistic is that 50 percent, roughly, of our minority kids are not finishing high school. And in one generation our minorities in America. African-Americans, Hispanic, Asians and Indian Americans will be over 50 percent of the population. "  "So we have a challenge in front of us, and all of America has to come together to work on that challenge"  he added.

With such a long an impressive list of guests why is it that not one Educator is there.. None of these meetings should occur without a front line Teacher to give perspective. Half the problems in education today are caused by having these meetings among the know-it-alls that know nothing of a classroom or students. Next time call me , then you can learn something.

Teachers have been in charge with help of their unions. Read the article and you will have an answer to your question. BTW, "Next time call me, then you can learn something" – can you say "know it all"?

I would love to hear Mr Powell's honest honest opinion of the recent policies and direction of the Republican Party? He is so much more on the ball than the likes of a Shara Palin, Bachmann, Cantor, Boehner, McConnell or any of the GOP President wannabes.

Secretary of State, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, 4 Star General, Colin Powell told the world that Iraq possessed WMDs. His speech at the United Nations Security Council included maps, and images. Colin even held up a model vial of anthrax, all to whip the world in to a frenzy over Iraq. He lied to his president, to the UN, to the world and to his country. Once the most trusted General (since President Eisenhower), to the biggest con man of the last century.

War crimes? Yes Colin should be held accountable for all the dead Iraq women and children, Iraq soldiers and American Service men and women.

Colin, may your personal nightmares creep into the daylight and drag you into the night.

Well! Here's another black man you are ready to dismantle and trample on; and this thread isn't even about War Crimes/Colin Powell! However, I've said many months ago that everyone who was involved in the setting off of that 'unauthorized' Bush War in IRAQ should be brought up on war crimes! I even named the main actors: Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, Rove, and I said.. as grievous as it was for me to say, Colin Powell too. You were busy defending Bushs' 'intel' at the time. So what are you talking about now?

Liz, on Jan 7, 2011 you said "I have GREAT RESPECT for GEN COLIN POWELL. I have just as much respect as I do BARACK OBAMA."

Now you think the man should be convicted of war crimes. What changed your mind?

Whose feathers are you trying ruffle now? Mine? Well you're almost there because back then, I argued that Bush was not authorized to go there in the first place by the UN; and you continued to argue that according to the intel he recieved at the time, Bush was authorized by Congress to go! Jay, most real political watchers know exactly why Bush was so adamant about going to IRAQ! He said he intended to get Saddam Hussein because he'd threatened his father; but the main reason was 'war profitteering' gains.

'He lied to his president, to the UN, to the world and to his country' huh? Well I see it differently. He was lied to by his president, CIA, the profitteers, especially Cheney to accept the intel that they had as valid! They couldn't wait to get over there! Powell was their subordinate! BTW, the BUCK stops at Bush; the same way you always fanagle a way to stop it at Obama! Colin Powell was Bushs' 'MULE'! The one who was 'set up' to have to go to the UN with the BIG LIE CHENEY, the CIA and the rest devised!

NO Jay, I will not allow you to sit up there on your PC and begin destroying yet another 'GIANT' of a mans' creibility, an African American man, with your BS, without my rebuttal! Now I said POWELL will have to face trial if Bush and the others are brought to justice, but he is NOT accountable any more than Bush and Cheney for all of the death that has occurred because of the unauthorized, unethical, greed of some in these un-UNITED STATES! He certainly didn't give the order! BUSH DID! He couldn't wait!

The words of your last paragraph of your post about Powell is THE most telling of who you really are! I knew it all along that you were evil; WATCH OUT FOLKS! I pronounce Psalm 94 on you. I 'recall' and send back every word of that last paragraph to you, buddy! That's going to be YOUR day and night! At the rate you're going, you won't be able to tell the difference between the two. You might ought to seek help for your 'deep-seated' illness of hatefulness, supremacy, and envy!
