Obama back to the Rose Garden![]() President Obama is headed back out in front of the White House press corps at 12:15 p.m. ET, this time to give a statement on the debt bill expected to pass the Senate. CNN will carry it live, of course. POTUS' Day ahead: Out of view as Senate takes up bill![]() Good morning from the White House. According to the official schedule, the president is expect to stay behind closed doors today, though it's likely we will see him if and when the Senate passes the debt ceiling bill. Jay Carney has declined to give specifics on what kind of ceremony the president will hold to sign the bill. As for the events on the schedule, the highlight today is the president's meeting with the crew of the Space Shuttle Endeavour, which includes Mark Kelly - the husband of Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Giffords of course made a surprise appearance on the House floor Monday night to cast her vote for the debt ceiling bill. Obama will also meet with the AFL-CIO Executive Committee in the morning and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta in the afternoon. Full Schedule: |
