Picture of the Week

President Obama,  on Tuesday at Dover Air Force Base, participates in the dignified transfer ceremony for the remains of the 31 US and Afghan personnel who died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan over the weekend. The president's visit was kept secret until he landed in Delaware and the photo is the only image of the ceremony allowed. White House Photographer Pete Souza shows the president and other military leaders saluting the remains before meeting with the families of the fallen.

Could have sworn that the FAMILIES requested no photos be taken. Very insulting to use this tragedy as a political photo op, when the majority of the families requested no photos at all. I guess the commander on chief is above all else and can do as he pleases even though the Pentagon and Chief of Staff photographers complied to the request.

You could've sworn by whom or what George? You people are soooo petty and downright evil. Any President of the United States who went to DOVER out of respect and honor to recieve with the families, the bodies of their loss family members is a humbling show of empathy, sympathy and total respect. For you to claim that OBAMA was using this event as a photo opportunity is scandalous and mean! He did'nt ask that the media be there to snap pictures. They follow this man to the washroom! That's been the problem!

Had he been ANY other of the previous Presidents, even a hypothetical 'President' Hillary Clinton or 'President' John McCain and the media had followed them to DOVER, snapping pictures, you wouldn't have opened your mouth! This is the type of sinister stuff that I speak about on these blogs all of the time. The double-standards that have been placed on the back of this President as his responsibility or his doing, versus ALL others is blatantly obvious and has to be brewed in racism! What else could it be?

Problem is Joe, if he's a 'bum' then where do you stand on the pyramid? Other than your claimed service as a US Marine, which I was sure to thank you for, what have you done for your country lately but complain, quibble, slander and disrespect the President of the UNITED STATES? That's not normally what military and especially marines do! They usually make objective provisions for the decisions made by the top chain of command, COs. Even if they don't agree, they show respect for the Commanders in Chief.

In this case most of the noise is from the press who argued they should be allowed to take pictures of planes and tarmac...and who is to say they wouldn't have taken of more than that.

Since 19 of the 30 families requested no photographs of their deceased loved one's remains (casket) (in this sad case allowing photographs of any casket could not be given until all the remains have been identified.)

It is good that it was recorded, by the White House photographer, that our President did pay this Nation's respect for our fallen....and it was done without photographing one casket.

I guarantee you this President would not have considered it a photo-op....had he considered it a photo-op (as some morons here suggest), he could have requested other news media sources be present. Heaven knows they requested to be.

Give it a break joe/george for once take off your white sheets. I think you fools should shut up and think of these families who have lost their loved ones.

Tell Obama, If he was in the military he would know that you do not salute unless you are under cover[ which means wearing a uniform hat]. He is suppose to put his right hand over his heart.

Hey, why is it such a big deal NOW that Pres Obama should've been in the military? His saluted as the PRESIDENT aka COMMANDER in CHIEF, he was showing respect for the military! AMERICA has elected several Presidents who weren't in the military, and most of them were of age during some war, somewhere that WE of course, were involved in! Was Clinton even in the military? NO...but that didn't hinder his great performance as PRESIDENT. Bush only went to 2 or 3 reserve meetings; LOL! took a photo op on a plane!

My husband got back from VIETNAM in 1972, Barack Obama was just 11 years old. That 'trick of a war' was over in 74-75. He was 13-15 years old. By the time all of the other 'wars of profiteering' got started the man was in college, graduating 'suma cum laude' and on his way to becoming a well-read, prepared, successful attorney! The system squashed many minorities using education, or the lack there of as leverage! He's ONE that got his! Are you angry about that? NOW, he should've gone to the military! LOL!

Had he decided to go into the military after he finished his education, I wonder how much trouble he'd have had going in as an officer...which was the policy, the norm, and expected by most. Honestly, I'll take that back. I have a good idea how much trouble he'd have had! The bar would have been raised some kind of way! It never fails when it comes to most of Americas' 'minority' recieving their just due! Historically and even now, requirement criterion, policies, and even laws change right then; midstream!

Honestly, you 'examiners' who work hard to 'spin/spew' what's wrong or what could be percieved by the stupid as wrong, bad or negative are a beligerent bunch! You'd rather continue on with your trolling against this President, than to spend time looking for what could be right, good or positive and percieved by ALL as a GREAT work in AMERICA! It's saddening and pathetic how far back down the rabbit hole AMERICA's fallen! It's because the hole was never cemently SEALED. It was covered over with PINESTRAW!
