Obama Bus Tour's Stop #3: Chatfield, MN

President Obama made a seemingly unplanned stop at a children's summer camp program in Chatfield, Minnesota. He spent several minutes shaking hands with about 45 kids in colorful "Valleyland Kids" t-shirts. The young kids, ranging from kindergarteners to 7th graders, then posed for a picture with the president. Clearly he needed some help getting up once the photo-op was over.

What a great photo – You can't fool kids, they know who's good/bad. What a pity Americans don't realize they have a wonderful President. Why don't you try to help him , AND yourselves, since he is not going to get any help from Congress. It breaks my heart to see such hatred that the Republican Party (aka TP) would rather see the country go up in flames than have Barack Obama for President. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.

Valerie, it's people like you, blind fanatical Obama loyalists, who are bringing America to its knees. America is MORE important than Obama, and it's time for you Obama suckers to open your eyes, and shift your loyalty from Obama to America, if you want to save this great country of ours !!!

I wish Pres. Obama would make this statement, that Washington DC needs a enema, and make it clear that he has a two term limit, Congress and Senate should have a two term limit.

Back on track to the mess that congress and Obama has gotten into the last 2.5 years. Ya everything was great until they came into office in January. -Your are so ignorant!!!

        August 17, 2011 at 12:05 am |
      • jean2009

@ Jack You can't rewrite history. History comes with dates.... the mess started under George W. Bush – Mortgage Meltdown seriously began in June 2007; 25 banks failed in 2008 – Lehman Brothers failed Sept.18,2008; stock market dived on July 19, 2007 and crashed Sept. 29, 2008, 2.6 million jobs lost in 2008,TARP passed 2008 and signed by GW Bush, Auto bailout passed and signed 2008 by GW Bush.

As much as you might like to change those dates they cannot be disputed.

I agree Valerie Toronto, President Obama is a good, compassionate, fair man who cares deeply for America. I cannot understand the unfettered hate emanating from the GOP Tea Bags towards our President. President Obama, is happily married, has two wonderful children that he's providing for, and he worked hard to succeed. An American dream come true and the GOP Tea Bags hate it.

I am from Chatfield and was able to see President Obama take this picture with the kids. If I ever have the opportunity I would like to thank Mr. Obama for taking the time to do this for the children, they are overwhelmed with excitement!

The president has been coming off like the small kid in high school beset by gangs of bullies. There was so nastiness and untruth being thrown at him, he looked like he was headed for defeat. But in his speech he made it clear it is the people vs the Republicans, not the Republicans vs Obama. He further pointed out all manner of measures to create jobs that did not require stimulus spending that the Republicans were also blocking. The Republicans have made no bones about it. They are perfectly happy to destroy the economy, even the entire US government just to make Obama look bad. I think it is time to pelt Republicans with rotten vegetables every time they show their heads above ground. They are traitors to their country. They have violated the oath of allegiance.

The president, no matter who it is will never be able to do anything with the budget untill you get big business out of politcs. The only way to do that is to block big business from bribing all of the politicians.

TP/ Republican supporters are so personal in their attacks against President Obama on here. The disrespect for him is really awful. If you don't like the man's policies that's one thing, but some of the comments directed at Obama on here have been very hardcore! Guess I'm forgetting that there are definitely some racist elements in the Tea Party that want nothing more than to see Obama go no matter what he does. These elements ignore the good, and emphasize his mistakes. Alls I know is this country is in for some really bad times if the Tea Party Republicans takes power next year. Guess all you can do is vote, (OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!!!)

Tit-for-Tat, J (if this gets through the censors). The hate started with the left and Bush's admin. Any policy that is disagreed with brings out the racist card. We were not allowed to criticize anything he did, and the left knew that would be the case, which brought about terrible policies that we are now paying for. Yes there are some crazies, but the left is as blided by love and know-no wrong as the right is by disdain. Had we been able to voice our objections to POLICY early on w/out the all-too-quick labling, the discourse may not have reached this level. And, I think there are a few "trolls" out there just loving to see the feathers ruffled...heck, I'm even guilty of a couple...it's fun to see the blind scream racism AT EVERY CHANCE they can, not realizing that racism is just as rampant in the defend at all costs for no reason other than his shade, as it is in the attack at all costs just because he is bla...er African American (and he is one we can truly call African American, from his immediate Kenyon Father) not a pseudonym for dark skinned American.

I am a staff member at Valleyland, and this meant a lot to all of the kids, we even had some first graders burst into tears of joy after they got to shake The presidents hand. You can not fake being good with kids, Obama is a very compassionate and caring man. Even at Valleyland today it is all the kids talk about! This will be talked about for years and years to come in Chatfield! thank you Mr. President, we love you! 🙂

That's right Dale! I've often said they need to be kicked out at least every four years, just like Presidents are! If relelected four more, just the president and that's it! The laws should be passed that Congressmen can ONLY work as seasonal/conditional federal workers, not as permanent/career potential employees. They're 'elected' federal officials..they aren't the GS Civil Service employee, who applied to the government, took CS test, got 'selected' by the civil service board like I and many others did.

That way, they won't be staying in WASHINGTON so long they become part of the nations problems, rather than Americas' problems resolutioners! They keep being sent back there by their 'constituents' over and over again. Truth be told, they really don't care about us until election time. When it comes to their 'constits' vs money, do you know who wins? I hope you do! Being there so long, they become corrupted and addicted to the lobbyists, handouts, payoffs and gifts; buying YES and NO votes! Recently.. NOs!!

  21. Liz Carter in Georgia

Valerie Toronto and Aaron T3, I agree 100% with your comments. The real reason is obvious to the blind though. All of this chaos, obstruction, and hate is rooted in nothing else but racism and bigotry. It's being camouflaged, denounced, and denied under the covering of 'politics'! Ones of us who point that truth out are denounced daily by some as racists and bigots ourselves for doing so! However, the few others and I will continue on until we're heard and until that 'fact' becomes recognized by the masses.
