Obama Bus Tour Stop #6: Peosta, IA

President Obama's bus next pulled into Northern Iowa Community College in Peosta, Iowa for the White House Rural Economic Forum. It's an all-day event where the president will share his vision for stimulating the rural economy. But his remarks were not without some jabs at the Republicans. Here's how the CNN Wires team put it:

PEOSTA, Iowa (CNN) - President Barack Obama laced into his conservative Republican congressional critics Tuesday, accusing them of putting partisan political concerns before the country's interests.

Appearing before a crowd of farmers and small-business owners in the presidential battleground state of Iowa, Obama called on Congress to help boost an anemic economy by passing an extension of the payroll tax cut and a new road construction bill, among other things.

"America is going to come back from this recession stronger than before," the president declared. But I "need your help sending a message to Congress" that "it's time to put politics aside and get something done," he said.

Elements in Congress refuse to "put country ahead of faction," Obama said. It is time to "put country ahead of party and put the next generation ahead of the next election. That's what I'm fighting for."

Obama's latest salvo against tea party-backed Republicans came in the midst of the president's three-day Midwestern bus tour, ostensibly meant to promote administration's new rural economic development initiatives.

Obama, stop using our taxpayers money for your campaigning. The country is broke as it is and you are wasting our money for your campaigning. Why don't you use your fundraising donations that you have received to date. Its unfair to the country and us the people for you to be wasting this money when we are so much in debt. You are shameless and that's why we have to vote you out in 2012.

I believe, this country has always provided transportation for our presidents when they travel no matter what the purpose was; why should that be such a concern now? We all know the perils this president faces everyday just because of who he is, politics aside. I've paid taxes over 50 some odd years and realize that as a citizen of this country, that is one of the ways I enjoy democracy. Just a thought; maybe if we Americans (all of us) begin to encourage our President instead of criticize him, we could see the change we've all hoped for.
      You have a great day.

Yes, he is a disgrace. Now that he's done blaming Bush for everything he's blaming Congress. He can't rest on his laurels, because the only thing he really accomplished is getting elected. Now he's trying to pretend he's siding with "the people" and he is just as disappointed as we are and he "feels our pain". Really??? Seriously??? I don't get to travel around the country surrounded by servants paid for by the people. I have to work for a living. I wish he would try to do the same.

Sorry, but George W. Bush was the disgrace since his failed policies are the root cause of the current mess.

You need to read: "George Bush and the Permanent Campaign" He started campaigning in 2002, for his second term, and he traveled in Air Force One plus any bus he used was by far a bigger gas hog than this one.

Plus, there is no way this president could compete with the 77 round trips Air Force One traveled to deliver President Bush to the Crawford Ranch and back to the Washington.

There is even a 79 minuted DVD documentary from George Bush's campaign for re-election which started in 2002 Titled: Journeys With George....see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312848/

Common sense say the president should lay out his plan to put America back to work.

Common sense says he would be wasting his time in presenting it before congress gets back from vacation.

Maggie: President has the right to go and talk to people. Find out how many times George Bush hid in his ranch? We want to see and listen to him. You can switch on your Fox TV now. Thanks.

For all the haters the President is the most powerful man whether you like it or not and has the right to be protected by Secret Service on air force one, the beast and the new "beastly" bus. What a nice piece of transportation it suprised every one especially Sarah Palin with her bus tour. Jealously will get you no where and I know all the candidates will want to ride on the bus let's see who will turn down that government ride since the government spends too much as they say.

They always rented buses for $10.000 so it was a good move to purchase the 2 buses and it was out of the transportation funds so people can stop saying they paid for it.

Let's see if Conservative Rick Perry rides a horse instead of this bus if you notice none of the candidates have made a comment about the bus how conveinient I wonder why?

The President has the right to go out and speak to the people because Washington is too toxic I said President Obama do what you have to do. Let them ta;lk while you ride the bus.

@Joy, @Al Choudhury, and @Dee; I ditto every word of your comments. Thank you for your posts. These people are THE most biased, hateful, beligerent, envious, begrudging and instigating (I could add a few more descriptive words but I won't this time) 'loyal American patriots' I've encountered in a long time! Actually since the 1950s and 1960s. You see, the truth is, that old 'stinking thinking' never did die, it just went to sleep. Oh, but it's WIDE AWAKE NOW, hiding under the 'sheets and hoods' of politics!

Jean, these clowns will run through hell in a pair of gasoline-drenched shorts, than to ever accept and acknowledge the truth about the George Bush failed policies. They have OBAMA now to blame everything on! If GWB came out and told the truth about what they had done, admitted that his policy decisions were the root cause of why we're here, these nuts would argue with him and call him a liar! It's obvious, as long as OBAMA is a 'one term president', they don't care if AMERICA falls! They can say..'See'!

Our beautiful America was founded on trusting in God and praying in faith for our country to be strong and free. United we will stand,...we must come together in love and forgiveness. Let us begin to live in peace and pray for God to Bless America and touch the hearts of those that don't know God. Only as we turn back towards our faith in God will our country begin to heal from all the hate and this to by the grace of God. Pray for more Godly Leader's!! Just Believe in the God Centered America that was ours not so long ago!! Prayer does make a difference!! God Bless America!!

You sound like a disgrace instead of the President I bet the Health Care reform will affect you, the killing of Osama Bid Laden will affect you , the women's rights act will affect you and there is so much more this President has done. He is almost to get rid of Gaddhfi another regime that will affect you.

People don't understand he has a lot on his plate and needs the help from Congress but yet he is criticized and they are saying he is not a leader. His main job was and still is to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of terroist so that is the reasoning behimd Osama and Gaddahfi.

Americans wake-up and stop hateing this President the GOP field of candidates is very scary.
