Gaggle Notes: Martha's Vineyard edition The president has just landed in Martha's Vineyard for a 10-day vacation with his family. While the president has no public events on his schedule during his time away from Washington, during this afternoon’s flight Deputy Press Secretary Josh Earnest gaggled with reporters on Air Force One and previewed the president’s week ahead. POTUS schedule August 18, 2011 President Obama will leave D.C. today and head to Martha's Vineyard for 10 days of R & R. But before he departs the administration is wrapping up a few loose ends like announcing new sanctions against Syria and calling for President Bashar al-Assad to step down from power. " The future of Syria must be determined by its people, but President Bashar al-Assad is standing in their way," Obama said in a written statement. "We have consistently said that President Assad must lead a democratic transition or get out of the way. He has not led.
