POTUS Day Ahead: Rallying with unions![]() President Obama will mark Labor Day in Detroit, rallying with a pro-union crowd expected to number well into the thousands. The speech comes at a fragile time for the president, with unemployment stubbornly standing pat above 9 percent, a new White House economic forecast predicting unemployment will stay above 6 percent until 2017, and an overwhelming belief among Americans that the country is in another recession. The Labor Day trip also comes three days before the president will outline a new jobs program in front of a joint session of congress. We'll see if he previews any of that speech today.
