Pres. Obama sells jobs plan: School Modernization![]() This afternoon President Obama hit the road to sell the part of his jobs plan providing money for public school modernization. This is the first attempt at breaking the president’s plan into its component parts and pitching them to the public individually. Tomorrow the president travels to Raleigh, North Carolina to continue his efforts. Here’s the story of today’s event from the guys at CNN Wires:
President Obama’s push for his jobs plan will span months![]() Senior administration officials say the president will be making his case for Congress to pass his jobs plan for much of the rest of the year, taking his message outside Washington as he has in recent days, visiting Virginia Friday, Ohio Tuesday and North Carolina Wednesday. The push will include another bus tour, though it is not yet scheduled, officials say, and will target regional media, including local radio stations, with ads. The president will travel to non-battleground states to make his case for “The American Jobs Act,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Monday, though officials won’t yet say which non-swing states he will visit. Morning Briefing: Obama heads to Boehner's territory![]() The 1600 Blog's daily roundup of what the White House is reading this morning online and in the papers: You can bet Obama’s top aides in the White House and in Chicago’s campaign headquarters were watching last night’s CNN Republican/Tea Party debate closely as Texas Gov. Rick Perry appears to be surging ahead of a field that has remained in flux for months. The raucous event no doubt gave aides fresh insight into the type of hard-nosed campaigner Perry might be should he win the nomination. And it's likely the Obama camp's TiVo was in full operation, storing clips that might come in handy for future campaign commercials. Fresh off traveling to Eric Cantor’s Virginia district last week, the president on Tuesday heads to Columbus, Ohio – the home state of none other than House Speaker John Boehner and of course one that is chock full of swing voters. It’s expected the president will hit largely the same themes as he has since his prime-time speech before Congress last week, urging the passage of his $400 billion jobs plan that the White House has called the American Jobs Act. The trip comes a day after the president held a unusual Rose Garden event where, flanked by teachers, veterans, small business owners, and construction workers, he announced he was formally sending his bill to Congress.
