Hello, where do you guys get your glasses or contacts from?

I'm intending to purchase a new pair of eyeglasses or
contacts soon but I am not really sure exactly where to get them. Where can I get it most affordable?

I have heard that Optical Outlets could be the cheapest but I am not exactly sure if it's
safe to buy on the internet?

I am looking into potential online options but I have heard something about fake contacts that might damage your eyes??

Please let me know where you guys get your eyewear from so I have an idea on where to get mine.

    If you know
any specific web site that is reputable, please let me know – many thanks! Should I just get it from optical outlet??

and Hello! I am brand new here!

I think you may have stumbled onto the wrong website. I doubt the President or First Lady will respond toyour question.

As for myself, I shop local for eyeglasses. I prefer to try frames on before I buy.

OWS is not asking anyone of the top 1%ers to give any of their money to the poor. You lie! They're demonstrating against the system of the 1%ers who YES! were made 'filthy rich' off of the BACKS of the poor/middle-class workers in America through THEIR hard work, paying their lions share of taxes out of everyone of THEIR checks before they even get them, yet the GOP/TEAPARTY loving Corporations don't see fit to pay their share of taxes! This may just cause REAL trickle down effect for stabilizing America!

We made them rich! Many AMERICANS worked for them! Many AMERICANS 'slaved' for them..I mean the working poor! We purchased their goods and services. They've sent most of our jobs overseas where they can employ people even more cheaply; ship the goods back here and we still purchase them. Yes...some are certainly purchasing them with their disability checks from SS, pensions, living assistance programs, unemployment checks...NO JOBS! 1%ers don't care to change that so what do you expect? Yes..we will Occupy!

Liz ... I should have known your spent 32 years on the public dole !!! No wonder you love obama's redistribution of America's wealth to the public workers and their unions. Government employees merely have to show up, to get their guaranteed pay raises and pensions ... which now are higher than the hard working private sector tax payers, who pay their salaries ... and, no matter how horrible government workers perform, obama's unions make it impossible to fire them. Liz Carder ... your postings are passionate, but they've got more errors and untruths than carter's got liver pills. Furthermore, it's obvious that you think your race gives you a free pass, and a justification to accuse everyone who doesn't agree with you, of being a racist. All of this however, doesn't take away from the fact that your boy obama is the worst President in the hIstory of the United states. In addition to thinking he, and his corrupt administration, Eric Holder included, are above the law, he disregards our constitution, congress, and he thinks the resources of the American people are HIS !!! Instead of continuing his non-stop demands for Americans to give up a portion of their incomes ... why doesn't this fool just stop spending and squandering America's hard earned money on stupid expenditures??? Obama has increased our national debt by 4 TRILLION dollars in just 3 years. He sends Billions to countries who hate us. He uses crony capitalism to irresponsibly throw billions down 'green' rat holes. He forces through Trillion dollar unconstitutional, corrupt, 'pass it to see what's in it', pork laden, legislation, which is destroying our economy. He uses the failed, bankrupt policies of Europe, as a blueprint for America's fragile economy. He gets America's credit rating to drop, for the first time in 50 years. All this, and more, while he and Michelle throw OUR hard money around like water, on their extravagant personal trips, parties, and indulgences. The only way to save America, is to throw this lying scoundrel out of office.

      Liz,

I am in full agreement there is massive greed in corporate America. yet, not everyone. I look at Bill Gates and his foundation. He can afford to give away millions because he has millionsn to give away! That is capitalism at its best (although there is room is disagree if you hate Microsoft products). Greed is capitalism at its worst. 2 quick thoughts

      1. I know of no one ever who worked for a poor man
      2. As you said, we buy the products, some of us own the stock. Could some of this be our (the consumer's) fault as well? Walmart is full of foreign products yet alway fill of shoppers!

As I said before GE paid ZERO in federal taxes last year yet are building a manufactoring plant in China! The GE CEO is a buddy of the President too! Lower corporate tax rates and close loopholes! On the other hand Boeing is trying to bring Jobs to SC but opening up a plant in Charleston! The government is sueing to prevent that. Why? They would probably have less headache by moving to China or India! Yet they are attempting to stay in the US and are catching hell for it! The government is sending out mixed signals!

Some people on this blog and in Washington just refuse to see or don't want to see AMERICA turned around, put back on its political, economical, diplomatical, spiritual, moral footing under THIS Presidents' charge! They don't won't the infrastructure rebuilt, energy, EPA restructured; they don't won't unemployment numbers to go down by putting Americans back to work under THIS President! Under THIS President, they'll allow havoc and chaos to reak among us; the 99%ers even if many of us are their own; SAD!

Actually, I think Howard, Jay, John and their ilk, are paid emissaries of China and India who are working to make sure we don't achieve anything productive toward rebuilding our country in the 21st Century.

Did anyone watch the Jennifer Granholm interview? The Chinese want us to take our time about rebuilding our infrastructure and investing in green technology.... exactly the line of thought that Howard, Jay, John and their ilk are pushing with their American must fail rants.

Think about it who reaps the rewards if we don't pursue those goals?

Steveo, you know I agree with your first sentence 100%; and YES, Capitalistic greed's been underway in America for many, many years. It has benefitted only a few Americans as it has hurt others! There's one moneytary system in America! I view it like the blood-stream. When all of the blood flows to the head, the body is in danger of a stroke! Most of the money made, saved, earned, and YES, even invested by 99%ers in America has flowed to the 'head'/1%! America's in a stroke mode! And to top it off, NO JOBS!

    • C-Lo

Liz–first, nice annalogy! Second, I think part of the problem is our own dependence on corporations, as someone else has pointed out (I think it was steveo with the Walmart example).

We have become a society of dependents. We want gov't and corporations to create jobs for us, rather than us creating jobs for ourselves. I had a "kid" knock on my door a few days ago asking to trim my trees. He wanted a couple hundred bucks for it, and we negotiated to just a couple trees for $75. The point being, he wasn't waiting around for someone to "give" him a job, he "created" the work and reaped the benefit directly.

Gov't has made this nearly impossible, however, because I'm pretty sure he didn't have the necessary licensing, insurance, "education in horticulture," etc gov't requires. His whole operation was probably "illegal" though I don't think he was (wink, wink).

When did we stop being entrupenuerial (sp?) and become "slaves" of the corporate system (I am one, I'll admit). I'd love to start my own business, and explored it, but when it came down to it, licensing, fees, taxes, insurance etc. were so far out there it was nearly impossible. Now here I am back to being a mouse on a wheel. But I think the OWS is misguided in wanting gov't and corps to "create" jobs for us. This side of the fence wants them to get out of the way and allow us to rise up ourselves. Least that's how I see it.

..About your No 1 response...I used to know of a 'people' who worked for the poor man, woman and child. They were called Americans! They were Americans who were blessed or some would say they were lucky enough to get the breaks to make it. The ones who made fair to good livings with a little left over to spare for the less fortunate! When we were humbly and graciously in service to the poor, we worked for the poor! We were a nation CALLED to the responsibilty of its owns HEW! We weren't stroke bound either!

Liz, the way I read your reply vs. steveo's post, it appears you are on a different track, and maybe you meant it to be ironic and I missed it. But steveo's post about working for a poor man meant "employed by" and it seems you switched it to mean "work for the benefit of."

please correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, sorry–a little courtesy a little late–welcome back, hope you have been moving forward. It's been good to see some of your passionate posts back!

      November 15, 2011 at 1:55 pm |
    • steveo

      Liz,

C-Lo better stated what I meant to say. "employed by" is what I meant. As you know I am a man of faith and so I too believe we work to help support those in need! No question. At the same time, as C-Lo pointed out self reliance is a dying art! We often quote scriptures that points out the need to support the poor, yet we seem to forget the scripture that states, If a man (able bodied) does not work, he does not eat! Once again, there is a balance. One balance is "the love of money is the root of all evil". It is simply greed! Again, Gates and Buffett are 1%'ters yet they give of their abundance. Major props to them!

..Oh but NO! There was another 'awakening' that occurred in the psyche of America. To whom much was being given was no longer enough! It turned into..'We can make more if we raise this price, if we raise that price, if we cut this and that; if we charge fees here and there; 'taxcuts', YES! but produce goods over there and so on! One of the most deadly sins evolved; GREED! I think America will continue to suffer and eventually FALL LIKE BABYLON, if it continues with this attitude of indifference to 'ITSELF'!

ctd@Steveo..to claim that the CEO of GE is 'buddies' with the President, how do you know that and if he is SO WHAT? Aren't all Presidents and their administrations familiar with CEOs and top officials of corporations? I understood GE has paid ZERO taxes for years, waaay before OBAMA became President! Media just decided to report it under the OBAMA administration. Yes! I think it needs to be fixed and soon! That type of thing is part of the problem! So why would you malign OBAMA alone with it? It's petty!

    November 15, 2011 at 2:39 pm |
    • steveo

      Liz,

You miss my point. I don't care if they are buddies or not. I'm not maligning Obama, I am stating he desires to raise taxes when GE and others pays NOTHING! The president's JOB CZAR is Jeff Immelt. Jeff Immelt, the JOB CZAR, is the CEO of GE, who:
      1. Paid NO federal taxes in 2010
      2. Building a manufacturing plant in China
This administration is sending out mixed signals!
Boeing is catching hell from THIS administration for building a plant in South Carolina while I hear crickets when GE announces it is building a plant in CHINA!

I am saying what I have already said:
      1. Cut and priorize spending
      2. Close corporate loopholes
      3. As a LAST resort raise taxes

It's called the path of least resistance! Easy speak of raising taxes! NOBODY is acting towards closing corporate tax loopholes! NOBODY!
It is just interesting the corporation ran by the AMERICAN JOBS CZAR paid no federal taxes in 2010 AND is opening a plant that wil bring jobs to the Chinese and NOT Americans! MIXED MESSAGES!

I'll field this one, Liz...it's because this is the type of cronyism many have railed against the GOP for, and the type of "change" they wanted to move from. It's no less hypocritical than what the right is accused of. This is exactly what I (and steveo) have been trying to communicate–the gov't is the problem and it doesn't matter who's in power to the majority of us, only which corps/industries are going to be the beneficiaries for the "next 4 years."

It's far from petty, in my opinion, it is one of the root causes, whether it's GE, Solyndra, etc and Obama or Halliburton, BP, etc. and Bush/Cheyney, and on down the line. GE is moving/has moved jobs overseas, but they don't get the OWS backlash?

It is a well documented fact that Immelt and Obama are "buddies," whether it's for convenience, ideology or beyond is another question.

So to your point of this happening waaay before Obama, again, isn't this the climate you were voting to change, and if so, why aren't you outraged at the lack of change? And if not, what "change" did you vote for?

      November 15, 2011 at 3:09 pm |
  12. Liz Carter in Georgia

The government is sending mixed messages? I think not..distracted maybe! To tell you the truth, besides the fact we seem to agree in our faith, maybe on some issues we agree or at least agree to disagree, you and a few others often post mixed messages. It's like wading in a pool of unsurety and indecision, at the same time I'm trying to come up with a PERCEPTION of what you may be trying to project for response! It's like you straddle the fence, standing for nothing and no one! OBAMA anytime? No way! EVER!

    November 15, 2011 at 3:26 pm |
    • C-Lo

Wow, Liz...this comment reflects to me a blindness of admiration for Obama, ignoring the facts you are faced with. I don't see how my (our) point of view, expressed ad nauseum, is confusing, fence straddling or mixed. I have consistantly pointed out my disdain for big gov't, from either side (remember Bush's big gov't programs like NCLB, Medicare D, home affordability for all...) and I speak out against Democrats primarily for this very reason–they want a large, powerful central gov't.

My impression of your posts is that you'll follow Obama regardless of what he says or does, not unlike those who will stand against him regardless. Either approach is wrong headed and dangerous. For the record, can you offer one criticism of any of Obama's policies, and NOT "he hasn't done enough to..." but a policy you think takes the country in the wrong direction?

      November 15, 2011 at 3:47 pm |
    • steveo

      "OBAMA anytime? No way! EVER!"

Not true! I have said, he deserves credit, ESPECIALLY as commander-In chief! I have readily credited him for that! Yes I straddle the fence! For me there is no other option! IMO it's a place for clearer vision! if you notice, I have tried to get Howard to relax (to no avail) and I stay out of the name calling rants (from both sides). Yep, I'm in the middle! I stated that from the very first post I made here! I praised the First Lady's efforts on her work will military families and jobs for vets! That is a job and effort well done!

Sorry Liz, the government is sending mixed messages. Again, I will use the Boeing plant in SC. They are creating jobs for Americans! Yet are being sued by this adminstration only due to the fact SC is a right to work (NON union) state. On the other hand GE, a company headed by the by the Adminstration's JOBS CZAR is creating jobs for the Chinese and no one said squat! Is that not a mixed signal? I am not being rude, nor discourtious, just sharing what I see.

No President is in need of a fanbase! They all need good folk to praise them when it's due and to call them out when it's due! I praised him, I called him out! No doubt this Presidency is historical. Something to be proud of! At the same time BOTH sides have their own agendas!

@Steveo; You, OBAMA and I've been saying tax cuts should be rolled back! You do know what leg of the government keeps squealing NO! don't you? Obama said himself raising taxes could be the last resort, if the 1%ers like BUFFETT, GATES and even himself could do the right thing and start paying their fair share of taxes! Who knows? Taxes may not have to be raised on the whole citizenry of the United States if they go ahead and do it! I pay enough out of my tiny pension already and still have to try to live.

    November 15, 2011 at 6:41 pm |
    • Steveo

      Liz,

If you add up all the taxes we pay, it i s quite a bit! I hear some of the mega rich asking for the "opportunity" to pay more in taxes. I hope they are not waiting for legislation to pay more. I hope they are writing that check right now, IF they are serious! Other than that is's all a sound byte!

BTW...if you didn't care whether he was buddies with Immelt or not, why did you have to throw it out there? Was it just to drop more cronyism salt on him? That's what it looked like to me; however, I still agree that a tax increase across the board on the middleclass, retired, disabled, and working poor SHOULDN'T be lodged againt us, if the ones who control Americas PURSE do their duty to the nation who made them wealthy. I can't respond to your BOEING claim. I need to check it out. I don't know about it.

    November 15, 2011 at 7:09 pm |
    • Steveo

The primary concern to me is NOT if they are buddies or not, although they are. My primary concern is what I stated earlier. Immelt is the jobs czar. I do appreciate you willing to research Boeing for yourself. I am in SC and trust me when I say, this is a HUGE deal!

Oh yes, Obama has WANTED to do quite a bit since he's been in office...but who usually stops him? Who is always stood against everything he has WANTED to do whether it be the Healthcare Act, the American Jobs Act or most anything he lays out on the table? Who said their mission was to make OBAMA 'a one term President' in the first month of his Presidency? Oh and they're working hard to live up to their promise too! That's th reason I don't trust another thing that comes from GOP/TEAPARTY lips! CONSPIRACY!

    November 15, 2011 at 7:27 pm |
    • Steveo

      Liz,

I once stated saying no for the purpose of saying no is a foolish strategy and so is McConnell's "one term" goal = foolish!. I hope no one seriously expected the opposition simply disappear. Parties have their own agendas. We are caught in the middle! Obama, as a politician KNEW that going in! I am not excusing every "No". I will say that sometimes NO is the correct answer! Whether a DEM NO, which we heard when Bush was President or whether a GOP NO now.
Congress has ALWAYS been divided, yet we keep sending them up knowing they can't play together very well!

      November 15, 2011 at 8:05 pm |
  17. Liz Carter in Georgia

C-Lo, I understand your thinking that I stand by my PRESIDENT no matter what I'm facing. Isn't that what America claims to be all about? 'UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL'! I've trusted many Presidents and their administrational decisions in my lifetime, even the 'grave' decisions of the last one! Why? I always thought that whatever the ultimate resolutions WERE, they would eventually prove in the long run, to be 'FOR THE GREATER GOOD' of us ALL! SOCIAL SECURITY (D) and MEDICARE (D) are 2 good examples.

...There was a whole lot of whinning and complaining when SS and Medicare were governmentally mandated. People kicked, screamed and hollered back then...'Oh BIG BROTHER is telling us what to do with our money; Big Government is just taking our money! Who gives them the right to take our money; and they have the nerve to take it out like taxes before we even get out checks'! Well, from what I can see...the most of the same ones who complained are now living on their SS and going to the doctors' on Medicare!

    November 15, 2011 at 8:37 pm |
  19. Liz Carter in Georgia

C-Lo; I'm not yet old enough to go on medicare, but I've paid into it at least 95% of my worklife! We are a countrymen who's worked and paid ahead; some are still working and contributing to the seniors 'co-op pot'. We were mandated to do this...and it's good in that if we were to fall ill, most likely we'd have to kill a savings and probably still owe the doctors and hospitals. BTW..many of us were working poor and were unable to 'SAVE' too much anyway! The government mandate 'FORCED' us put that away!!

    November 15, 2011 at 8:57 pm |
  20. Liz Carter in Georgia

@Steveo; you are right! Soundbytes! That IS food for thought! They do need to start writing out checks to the government rather than wait on a law or mandate to be legislated and put in place, before they step up and do their 'patriotic' duty! 'US PATRIOTS'! They claim they want their country back; their loyalty and pledge stands unquestionable...hands over their hearts and everything! PROVE IT FOLKS! My taxes and health insurance have increased every year since I retired in 2002! No COL in 2 years either!!

    November 15, 2011 at 9:20 pm |
  21. Liz Carter in Georgia

BTW...I do thank God that so far I can still pay my health insurance, which is of course taken directly out of my pension every month...the whole $263.00, however, I'm rather looking forward to being able to drop it and go on Medicare when it's my turn. We paid into it for others to use it...it's time for someone to pay for US to use it. However...if I'm able I STILL may keep a portion of my insurance anyway! If I didn't have any..who do you think would be paying for my bills? You all! SO GO OBAMACARE!
