Christmas in Hawaii President Obama and his family are spending Christmas on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. According to information provided by the White House the first family opened presents and sang carols before heading to Christmas services at the Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay chapel. Later in the day President Obama and the first lady will head back to the base to visit with service members and their families. |

Greg, people here are not happy with the Republican Party. The debt did iesrnace on their watch. What has changed since 2008 is that we went from running deficits around 5-10% to around 40%. This sudden and unprecedented iesrnace, and the fact that we have nothing to show for the 30% iesrnace in government spending, and that Democrat policies are actually preventing an economic recovery, is what drove many people to become politically active for the first time in their lives. The crisis that was slowly brewing was brought to a boil suddenly by radical Democrat policies.I linked a graph showing the sudden jump in the deficit. You apparently have no reaction to it. I hope you're getting paid for defending the indefensible. At least then somebody would be getting something out of it.Addendum: I also note that, to Greg, letting people keep money they've earned is wealth transfer, but taking their money away and giving it to someone else is not. The Queen of England can ride a train but our first family can't wait to fly to Hawaii together. If being together means so much to them, why would our first lady not wait and fly out together or just stay in Washington in case President Obama was unable to join them. Can they ever save the taxpayers money on their vacations?

I think we should all ask this question why should the president even need to ask congress to raise the debt ceiling for money they have already borrowed and spent? One would think it would not need to be asked just done.
The constitution states in Article 1 Section 8 – That Congress shall have power to borrow money on the credit of the United States. Which we all know they have done on a regular basis from looking at the current national debt... Add the fact that –The 14tth Amendment.Section 4 -states -The validity of the public debt of the United States shall not be questioned.
Which means we the taxpayers stand behind those debts congress has charged to our account, and do not question whether or not we pay our debts.
The Tea Potty is made up of a bunch of idiots who didn't have a problem with George W. raising the debt ceiling 9 times and Reagan 18 times. Now those bills are due...so shut up and pay them as the Constitution you want to frequently quote says you should.

@ Joe no Reagan didn't he spent Christmas at a his Simi Valley Ranch in California. He actually spent 2 1/2 years of his 8 year term on vacations at his ranch.

The Tea party just wants the GOV. to quit spending money that we don't have. Do you spend to a budget or fail to have a budget like the Liberal controlled Senate has failed to pass in several years? As soon as he gets back the President is asking for a 1.2 trillion increase in the debt ceiling. I guess he has never met a dollar he did not like to spend. Or will it be another dooms day senario, if you don't do this ....................

That 1.2T raise was already authorized by Congress, with the appropriate spending reductions in place. This is a pro-forma asking that if denied will put the Republican controlled congress in deeper doo-doo than it already is in.

Do you pay your bills when they are sent to you by a creditor? If the answer is yes, then understand that THESE ARE DEBTS THAT PREVIOUS CONGRESSES have accumulated, created and authorized for payment.
Do you understand that if you don't pay your bills, your credit rating goes down and it becomes more expensive to borrow? If you understand both these two points.....Why is the GOP/Tea Potty faithful blaming president Obama for doing with EVERY other President has done before him? There IS NO OTHER WAY TO PAY THE BILLS the why the system is set up.

The real reason Oblunder wants to raise the debt ceiling is that Moochelle has demanded from him an allowance increase. Also, the Prez needs new golf clubs or maybe they need more vacation money for 2012. What else could it be, as it's always him, him and more him.
