Failed policies? There are few policies that failed. He tried to do much more than he was able to accomplish only because Republicans tried their best to stand in his way.
Daniels should clean his own house, in Indiana, before he talks about the President....plus he as economic adviser who helped plan the failed economic polices of George Bush's presidency is the reason we currently have the mess we do.

Unions do not hurt America; corporate greed hurts America. Labor union provide not only a standard of living for themselves but set the standard for the working public at large. Were it not for unions children would still be working 14 hour days, and workers would be forced to work in unsafe and unhealthy conditions...with sub-standard pay, no vacations, no health benefits, no retirement. Unions in my opinion are a must, to prevent the recurrence of the egregious acts against workers from our historical not to distant past.

You are correct when you say unions did a lot of good and most of what they fought for has been adopted by the federal government into labor laws! I remember studying Samual Gompers back in the day! Unions also had a dark, violent side (re: the Molly McGuires). But that is history. 3-4 years ago the UAW wanted a seat at the GM Board of Directors. Why? Because the emphasis (in my opinion) has shifted from workers to political power! They may carry the same name (UAW, Teamsters) but the mission is not quite the same! I would take the comments from his Nobel Prize acceptance speech then look at the fact that the largest bulk of his Nobel prize money went to Fisher House; which provides for wounded Vets and their families. Did you know President Obama and Bill O'Reilly teamed up last year to raise over $750,000 for Fisher House?

Obama was aware of this rescue attempt while making his state of the union speach. This is what I want a president that is calm and can stand up during adversity. Great speach. I think fixing the issues and differences between the classes. How can anyone not be a part of the top two percent and be content with the fact that they hold seventy percent of the wealth in this country? I believe it is only people blind to this fact. Class warfare will occur, because there will come a time when they will control over ninety percent of the money, and push people of the lower classes only further down. Think about why class warfare is an issue now before it becomes something to big for the government to handle.

President Obama is proud of the troops and seems to have the greatest of respect for them. It is clear that he values their skills tremendously. For this President it seems to be all about the troops. This is an example of speaking softly and carrying a big stick as well as using the force of the Military wisely. Rather than starting phony wars, operations like these willl bring far more respect for the US armed services and show these thugs and terrorists not to play the fool with USA.
