It pays to be an EX-president

Washington (CNN) - Being president pays; $400,000 a year, in fact.

There's the free transportation in the presidential limousine, Marine One and Air Force One. And don't forget the free housing in Washington's most famous mansion, complete with a killer view of the Washington Monument, along with other perks (a personal chef, for one).

When a president leaves the White House he's still on the government payroll, receiving an annual pension of about $200,000, health care, paid official travel and an office.

Rent for President Jimmy Carter's Atlanta office is $102,000 per year, according to 2010 figures compiled by the Congressional Research Service. President George H. W. Bush's Houston office costs $175,000 per year. President Bill Clinton's office in the pricey real estate market of New York City is $516,000.

Not too bad, huh?

Why should us taxpayers be supporting an office somewhere? They all live in lavish, expensive houses. Turn an unused bedroom or basement into an office like the rest of us have to do! Sick Willy especially! U know, that one that doesnt inhale!

where are the academic and medical records hat may show just who this barry/barack obama is? Sealed like much of his life. President Bushes life is there for all to see..warts and all. Why should we trust obama when we know he is a crafted (phony) persona?

This is why after Obama leaves office he'll be richer than all the others, regardless of what happens. It's fairly easy to get an ex-congressman, senator or other public official to come speak but let's face it, there aren't that many ex-presidents so naturally they're going to get a lot of money. It's the market at work, and rarity is always a big factor.

It literally turns my stomach that bush is given easy street for the rest of his days after all the damage he did to this country. I guess though, it's his unemployment insurance – because bushs money making options are pretty limited – how on earth could anyone hire that doofus for anything after his performance in the white house, after his multiple failed businesses in the oil industry? He can't even make it on the motivational speaking tour, he's left with hiding in relative shame – a state he's earned.

President Bush had easy street EARNED before he was president...if you were not so full of leftist propaganda and studio he and Mrs Bush you would know that. I can tell you who obama is...because I have read and researched him (as much as one can, because of the black out).

....so you read now? And all of Pres. Obama's critics and opponents can't find all this "dirt" you have on the guy? Wow...you better call the entire RNC, The Grinch that stole congress, R-Money and tell them all to hire you so you can debunk and bring public all the "dirt" on Obama. LMAO.....the idiocy knows no bounds. I certainly wouldn't believe you represent the thoughtful few left in the Republican party...but rather the Tea Potty/Birther flat earthers, who couldn't find facts, or their fannies with both hands

I bet Barry would veto a bill to cut this proposal by some brave Senator or Representative. So Barry won't cause he wants his candy too and there are no brave politicians. This government sucks.
