Obama up in new poll

CNN's Political Ticker has the latest poll for Obama showing his approval rating has shot up above 50 percent.  In addition, he leads the entire GOP field by significant margins:

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama holds double digit leads over the top two GOP presidential candidates, according to a new national survey.

A Politico/George Washington University Battleground Poll released Monday indicates Obama topping former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 53% to 43% in a hypothetical general election matchup, with the president leading former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania 53% to 42%.

This poll is wrong, very wrong.

why? because it doesn't show one of your "great" candidates ahead? I think that is your fault for voting for them.

This is just CNN trying to make Obumma look good. Many polls out there that say something totally different. But people who drink the koolaide will continue to drink it

In MOST polls (check for yourself), PRESIDENT Obama leads all of "your boys" by double digits. I LOVE that these polls are rattling the cages. Obama WILL win it all, AGAIN!!! So deal with IT!!!

      • Impeachment

CNN is not mentioning the IMPEACHMENT bill in Congress right now. Wonder why that is?

They're asking for impeachment due to TREASON... that's NEWS. Why isn't CNN telling the public about this?

        Something to hide?

The President will win in a landslide, all indicators point to that. 24 months of job growth, out of 1 war soon 2. Dow at highest levels in 8 years. Building on upsurge, unemployment down. Landslide, guys, what's not to like.

      • Jharris

You are crazy as a bat aout of h*ll if you believe Obama is going to win in a landslide. No, the economy maybe picking up in some places, but there are a lot of holes. Republicans may have a weak field, but they have a h*lll of a hate machine and are in bed with corporations and oil companies who will try their best to make sure Obama doesn't win or will make him suffer with a close win. I don't trust all polls, I don't trust the "powers that be" and i don't trust Europe and the Middle East.

Once again Obama tries to CONN the American people, by playing with the numbers in these totally unreliable polls. And, the biased, partisan, mainstream media are complicit in misrepresenting what's actually happening. While the GOP primaries are in the process of picking a candidate, the GOP hasn't even begun campaigning against Obama. One of Obama's ploys is to give the bogus impression that he's already a shoe in for another term. It's good red meat for his base, but it's just singing to the choir. Every time an American has to pay highter prices at the pumps ... or, anywhere, for anything (since it takes gas to deliver ALL goods to all manufacturers, distributors, and retailers) ... people will blame "No Drill – No Pipeline" Obama ... no matter how much he tries to blame somebody else !!!

      February 27, 2012 at 1:11 pm |
      • David Johnston

You are too ignorant to vote. It shouldn't be allowed.

        February 27, 2012 at 1:13 pm |
      • HomeSweetHome

This is not an Obama ploy. It is not CNN playing with the numbers.

It is the American People realizing the GOP, the party of NO, do not have the real American People's best interest at heart..
But they do have the 1% interest at heart.

I guess they figured out who is behind the raising prices at the Gas Pump, who wants to take away the right to vote from the old, poor, minorities and students. Who wants to take away women's rights to choice and who wants to do away with the right to education our children. They know who wants to do away with Americans right to bargain in good faith. They also know who is next if they get away with this far right agenda.

This will not be a easy race but it will be the one to let the GOP and the world know that real Americans want to get to work.

They have figured out that bigotry and hate do not feed, cloth and shelter their families.

I agree with David Johnson about too ignorant to vote, but that's just what the GOPer, and Tea Party members are hoping for. To hit the most ignorant like many making these absurd remarks. That's the base of these yahoos. Of course they don't want them educated, because knowledge is power, and we need to keep them ignorant in order to "con" them. Not conn them.

Please stop drinking and sober up, you got nothing sensible to say. Just because GOP are singing anti President tune does not mean you should sing same tune too. Can you count 1 to 2? President has record to splash around you ignorants, what record has GOP candidates got to show since 2008 upto date in regards to promises made same year?

        February 28, 2012 at 4:25 pm |
    • Jharris

Why do you say that? Maybe the president is down in your personal poll. Polls go up and down with politicians. Daily tracking polls are never good because they are not as reliable. I believe a majority of voters right now would select the President Obama, but not by an ovewhelming percentage. Obama is a 53% in this poll and that is probably the highest he'll get because this country is very polarized. If the jobs report shows an uptick in unemployment to say 8.5%-8.6%, you will see that 53% drop to a 48%. The economy is improving in many parts of the economy which helps the president, but there are a lot of holes out their and it won't complete healing until 4 or 5 years from now. Besides, Republicans are going to ramp up their base. In an black versus white race having a 10 point lead is never good enough. If unemployment was 7.5%, Europe was stable, Middle East not as crazy, and gas prices were in the $2.50-3.00 dollar a gallon range, then Obama would be up 15-20 points against this weak GOP field. Heck, Obama, a black Democrat would be winning the white vote and get 25% support from Republicans!!

      February 27, 2012 at 2:27 pm |

Obozo? Really? How childish and immature and deranged is that. No Rasmussen has Obama 45% Romney 43%. A lot of these polls under poll young people 18-30, cell phone users, and minorities.

      February 27, 2012 at 8:11 pm |
    • King Beavington

Obama Victim- Rassmussen definately is biased towards the GOP. I feel, in light of the historically weak GOP field, they have no chance. The reason that no plausable candidates threw there hat in the ring is because they knew that they could not win. FYI, the country is not as far right as the GOP candidates think it is. OBAMA 2012!

Get beyond the hate and respect the Office of the Presidency and the President of the USA as well! It isi not only the right thing to do but the patriotic and christian way as well! Pres. Obama is doing the best he can considering the pathetic congress that he's trying to work with and the messy plate he was handed....! Tea Party and Haters tend to support the hate-fillled rhetoric that's spewed over the airwaves daily and oftentimes the wealthy pundits are convincing you to protest/vote against your own best interest! Wake up!!!

      February 28, 2012 at 1:39 pm |

there's no clowns in the Republican field that can touch president Obama and i think they're beginning to know it to that why they keep looking for some other dumb butt to run , it's OVER, your next president is the same one today!! Mr.president Obama..

The poll is not wrong. Many Americans who are polled lie. I for one never tell them the truth. But, in this case I think it is what it is – BO is on top right now. The repubs need to get their act together before these polls change. If they don't the polls will remain the same.

    February 27, 2012 at 11:08 am |
    • jean2009

@ John Thank you for admitting it...we gathered you normally have problems telling the truth.

And GOPvictim the Rasmussen poll only has a negative when it is a generic nameless Republican, when you put a face and name to the match up they lose.

Obama continues to tell Americans that 2 + 2 = 5 ... and, there's always a bunch of stupid people out there (and posting here), who believe him ... and, are ready to tell the rest of us that he is absolutely right ... and, insult us if we disagree.

Do all repos think like the loonies that write in to the ticker? Apparently the polls only lie if they are in the democrats favor. Typical repo stratigy. CNN posts unfavorable reports on the President. If you look at their Sunday morning shows, there are always Republican guests badmouthing the President and CNN chooses not correct whatever misstatements they make. You may disagree, but I'd say CNN is just as Republican friendly (or more so IMHO) as you think they are friendly towards the President.

When a group of obviously wealthy, supposedly intelligent, "God-fearing" family men make Sarah Palin's rhetoric from 2008 sound like pearls of wisdom by comparison you know it's not going to be pretty come November 2012 at the polls for the Republicans and their subpar "Elmer Gantry" selling crazy act for the cameras. If sanity, compassion and true brotherhood and fellowship across race, religion and creed prevails the Republicans don't stand a chance.

    February 27, 2012 at 2:38 pm |
  17. jerrylax

obama just pulled the race card and created 'AFRICAN AMERICANS FOR OBAMA'. Just wonder how unifying this is... I've never seen a President do this, disgusting! This guy is tearing America apart at the seams...or so he thinks. Many of my black friends have had enough of this and can see through obama...he is a phoney and a race bater.

    February 27, 2012 at 2:42 pm |
    • Joey

He'll still get 90% or more of the black vote regardless of what he says or does.

      February 27, 2012 at 7:23 pm |
    • Name*Liz Carter

@jerrylax....you are a liar. This man has tried his best to fly above this evil, long-standing race war, which has been going on in this country ever since the Civil War was lost! It has been more covert, but it's been still going own in the hearts, minds, and actions of quite a few supremacists here, so don't even try to act like it hadn't been! Tell your 'black friends' I said think again and look again...preferably outside of their front-doors! Tell them I said to get their heads up out of the sand. Obama didn't start this! This nasty debilitating demon called 'racism' sometimes dubbed 'biggotry' woke up out of it's coma for many whites in America as soon as Obama opened up his mouth and dared to announce he was running for President! It's been ON ever since, and if you and your 'black friends' think that ignoring and denying that it's a major factor in all of this daily vitriol and disrespectful tirades/rants against this President...just know that does not make it NOT SO...OK? Obama was 4 years old before the civil rights law was passed giving us even the full rights to vote! Now here they are working hard to figure out ways to block much of the black vote, or should I say...make it harder for blacks to vote! Satan Santorum so much as said America was better off before 1965, the same year the voting acts was passed! Obama can't help who he is, but he certainly did have a hand in who he became...and that's the President of the United States and some Americans haven't been able to get over that yet; and many never will! That's why they have been debunking everything that has his name attached to it. No other President has had to put up with this type of stonewalling, backbiting, sabotaging, biggotry, indifference, undermining and blatant open hate and disdain....EVER BEFORE! So you folk need to get honest and stop acting like 'it ain't so', because it is! BTW, I have white friend who see it!... There are people in this nation of all races see it...not to even speak of the world!

While I understand it gives the pundits something to pontificate about, all this pole dancing is tiresome. Taking polls every other day is ridiculous. When it gets closer to the election, maybe. In any event, I must say though, the more Willard, Newt, and Rick talk, the more I think they scare people with their rhetoric. But keep it up . . . it can only be good for the President, which works for me!

The Republicans have no one to blame but themselves. This is turning out to be absolutely the worst field of candidates in any primary – ever. It's like they're all suicidal or something. Santorum, appeals to the some of the lunatic fringe of Christian world, but has managed to alienate many of the conservative SBC crowd as well as mainstream Christians. Almost nobody wants the kind of theocracy he's been proposing. Newt, is just too crazy with his totally unrealistic promise of $2.50 gasoline. Everyone knows he can't possibly deliver on that. Almost nobody is stupid enough to fall for his bs. His credibility is in the toilet. Then there's Romney. He may have been able to bamboozle a few Republicans in Florida with his attack ads, but in the process he's shown us his true colors. He's the lying spoiled brat rich bully trying to live off his daddy's reputation. He has the air of someone who thinks political power is his birthright. He's toast and he has no one to blame but himself. It's sad to say, but Ron Paul appears to be the sanest of the bunch. But, he scares hell out of the mainstream with his isolationist views and calls to eliminate the Federal Reserve. By the time they have a candidate, Obama will make whoever wins the nomination look worse than George McGovern. It's will be a humiliation the Republicans won't recover from for decades.

The GOP, and Tea Party members are praying the gas continues to rise, because the really believe it's President Obamas fault. Even though anyone with a clue knows the President doesn't control gas prices. They know this, but also know the ignorant will believe them if they tell them it's his fault. They're an embarassing bunch, but those who believe them are even more embarassing. Sadly, the over zealous religious, right wing, and oh so moral bunch are easily lead, and easily confused.

Really? I heard the very same thing about the Dems praying for high gas prices when Bush was in office. Was it true then? I thought that was silly back then and I think the same now! SILLY!

LOL! Even after all your over-the-top, rambuncious, overtime work spewing hate and lies against him,...Obama is still going back into the Oval Office in January, 2013! LOL! You clowns are sick! How in the world can a whole nation of people be wrong and you are the ones who are right?? That notion has got to be ground in the highest height of hate, ignorance and stupidity! It's unreal! It's pathetic!

The National Weather Service has advised the United States of a Landslide warning that should strike the country around the first week of November, 2012. Much like the one that hit about the same time in 2008. So all Republicans should find shelter now, while there is still time!!!

Obama will win. I have no doubt, mostly thanks to the Collaborating News Network's unethical coverage.., as we are all witnessing here. But have no fear, their day is coming very soon. Partisan dishonesty is a double edged sword in journalism.

why hating? U have a president who came into office, inherited the worst economic crisis since the great depression, put the downfall into a halt, the economy is now rebounding back, saved the auto industry, passes health care that will benefit all and sundry, no more games, children can stay on their parents plan until they turn 26 esp in the face of this joblessness, where is Osama Bin Laden, Where is Ghadafi, held wall street accountable, when BP spilled the gulf, he stood with Americans while the GOP apologized to the oil Czars, just name it, so please stop hating, if you are still sad that a black man is occupying the white house, go dig ur grave and fall into it. Obama/Biden 2012

Politics being politics, an incumbent is hard to beat! Look, the American people elected George Bush TWICE and that was with most of the entire world saying he was an ignorant idiot and shaking their collective heads that the American people would not only elect him once, but then turn around and give him a second term.

  37. Say goodbye to 'we the people'

Just reading these comments and pro-Obama.. you have to agree.. there is NO waking up these people. They depend on CNN, Fox and Washington Post to feed them. And so they are. They don't care what's on the plate or under the table. They will eat it. How sad. They don't know what's REALLY going on in the world and how hated the USA has become world round. They don't know that Obama's plan is to bankrupt the USA and they don't care about all the illegal wars and killing the USA has done in the Middle East. They don't care that their freedoms and constitution is being disposed of and they certainly don't care that more than 600+ FEMA concentration camps are ready to go in the USA to house Americans if they go against the alien commander in chief.

To everyone who has TRIED desperately to show them the way... you have to admit.. from these comments that there is NO way you will get through to them. Romney is being groomed just like Obama was. There is no legal election in the USA. You are going to the polls for nothing. Their next pick is already in place. You are just doing what you should be doing. For the last time. YOU...the sleeping.. in the USA ... you need to Google the truth.
