WH announces Obama news conference President Obama will hold a news conference on Tuesday at the White House according to a tweet from White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. Reporters will likely pepper the president with questions regarding his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the state of the U.S. economy, concern over the ongoing violence in Syria and the race for the GOP presidential nomination. The last time the president opened himself up to a press conference was in November of 2012 at the APEC summit in Hawaii. Tuesday’s press conference – on the same day as the GOP’s Super Tuesday primaries – has several of us asking – is it coincidence or strategy that the President has had several same day events with Republican candidates lately? For instance – the president addressed the UAW last week touting his successful auto bailout strategy – the same day as important primaries in Arizona and Michigan—home to the auto industry. He also delivered his much anticipated contraception compromise while GOP candidate Mitt Romney addressed the annual CPAC convention in February. And last fall the president requested to address a Joint Session of Congress on the same night as a scheduled GOP debate. Ultimately he agreed to move his address to the following evening. A counter programming strategy or simple happenstance? What do you think? |

While the private sector job outlook has certainly improved, the economy still must create 3.25 million private sector jobs to break even. What is your issue with Fox news? If you say they lie, please quote ONE. If you say they are bias, please list ONE name of a person that you think hasn't been on Fox. The lib party line is to bash Fox news, but they never seem to back it up.
Even libs should be worried about the bias that goes on. All the libs are currently trying to push their agenda with the church rights issue and they are trying to dump Rush. Rush was wrong in what he said, but Ed Schultz did exactly the same thing, except he said it about a married, conservative woman. Last night on MSDNC they actually had Schultz heading a panel to talk about how bad a thing Rush did. Talk about the height of hypocrisy.

November 2012 – I don't think you are getting it. The repub nominee will need to run against the BO and the bias news media. He is the President, he can call a News Conference whenever he wants it up the we the people to view what we think is important to us, which for me it will be his conference.

I think you've hit that tree one too many times. Obama has been a sleeper his whole time in office. He has failed in every way. Obama ran on hope and to reach out across the aisle and change Washington. He has not done any of that. Obama and the Dems have not been able to do the simplest of things and that is passing a budget. Obama is a failed leader. He is done. Most you Dems will come back with this or that. But the facts are the facts. He has run up more debt than any President. The leaders of the world are laughing at us because of Obama.

Yep they fudged the books, and painted a picture to us and the world that we were all doing just dandy, everybody was progressing and making good livings. They painted the picture that we were right in going to Iraq too!! Everybody was tricked into the housing bubble and when that bubble bursted, that along with mismanagement of federal funds and the borrowing to keep us in Iraq was the end of the 'economic boom'! It turned into the sonic boom!! Don't pay Newt the Brute a bit of attention about the gasoline prices...how he's claiming to bring them back down to $2.50 per gallon, nor how much they used to be in 2009. I know they were higher than that during the Bush administration and I also remember they were so high, some stations didn't even have gas! We were watching the news trying to find out which stations did have it! Sitting in long lines when we found a station, to buy that high priced gas and it was way over two dollars! Newt won't be able to do a thing about the gas prices just like they claimed Bush and any other President couldn't! You all act like you forgot that the media made sure that we knew it wasn't Bushs' fault that the prices continued to escalate! Everybody, no matter the party preference was complaining! You cons and we libs both had started complaining. However, all of a sudden the gas price escalation is now Obamas' fault...it's no longer the greedy stockholders and speculators...huh? Get real...you can't have it both ways! Jerry, from my research and acquired knowledge throughout my whole life, blacks have had the highest unemployment percentage as it relates to the percentage of black population in America for a long time. Even when we were in the faked good times! Did you expect that number to decrease any faster than they are in a real recession? If we are employed at all, we generally are under-employed...not making a good living wage anyway! Under every other administration, blacks had the highest unemployment rate. Many have just become accustomed to it. We were the highest unemployed even under Bush! Under Clinton we started finding more employment and Bush messed that up, shipping more and more labor jobs overseas! As far as your food stamp accusation...it stands to reason that more food stamps would be offered by the Obama administration until folks can find jobs....or would you rather them just starve to death?? He has a valid reason to give out more temporary food aid! Bush actually gave out the most food stamps than Obama, and that was supposed to be during 'the good times'! Btw, there are more white people on foodstamps and all of the entitlements than blacks, so you all might want to rethink the thrashing that you keep putting on Obamas' back for trying to keep them in tact! So busy trying to take the bread out of the black Americans mouths, that you will be cutting off your own noses to spite your faces! There'll be more of you living outside and eating at church foodbanks, or out of garbage cans than us! Gas prices, 1st 26 months in office. Bush +7%, Obama +67%. It’s a truly remarkable picture – particularly given the way the media attacked Bush for his high gas price increase and then largely refused to attack Obama for his ridiculously insane gas price increase.
President Bush’s response to $4/gallon gasoline was to lift presidential and congressional moratoriums on expanded drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf, a move that many critics say came too late. But what about Obama?
Obama’s energy policy is working exactly the way it is designed. This administration knows that unless the price of fossil fuels skyrocket, expensive alternative energy sources, no matter how heavily subsidized, will continue to be unattractive to American consumers.
The liberal fascination with developing expensive vehicles that run on electricity doesn’t change that: 1) Solar or wind powered vehicles don’t commercially exist; 2) The cars that do run on electricity, or even battery-powered hybrids still require gas; and 3) the high cost of the alternatively fueled vehicles makes them largely insignificant in the auto market and cost-prohibitive to the average consumer.
Obama must at least end his de facto moratorium and get America back to the domestic supply capabilities we had just two years ago. As Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) told Interior Secretary Ken Salazar in a hearing on oil prices this week: “In January 2009 there were 16 permits issued. The next year there were 12 and this January, only two. We’re so far off the historic level. We’ve got to get it back up as quickly as possible.”

You can spin it any way you would like, when it comes down to it the GOP is wrong for America this time. They have been hijacked by a the radical Tea Party and it show in their rhetoric and ideas. They will recover, after all the hippies did the same to the Democrats back in the 1970s and they survived. I don't see how the regular moderate Republican (there are, and stop smirking) can stand these choices before them. Since Huntsman left there is not an adult in the whole bunch. Until there is a vialble electric or other powered vehicle we'll need petroleum. All the wishing and subsidizing can't change reality. If the Volt cost only $5,000 it might have a chance. Reliability also is a big concern for consumers and the Volt fails in that category as well, many drivers report that it falls short of the expected driving range listed by GM. For city driving I don't see why the compressed air car can't work, just pull into a gas station and refill your air. Whoever does solve the problem will stand to make billions.
I've been sitting here listening to Obama's speech, and one reporter asked him several questions regarding the comment Rush Limbaugh made against Ms. Fluke, who appeared before Congress to talk about contraception for women. Then the reporter wanted to know basically (can't remember word for word) why the liberals are not condemned for attacking conservative women. Obama answered each question, basically said women should be able to voice their concerns without being demonized by the press, talk show people, etc. He said he would like to think his girls could voice their opinions when they're older, without any name-calling. He totally ignored the part about conservative women being demonized, called filthy names, etc. by saying he can't comment on everything said out there – that is up to the journalists and news reporters! There is no way that man will stand up for ALL women! So much for people who say he for ALL people. Not true! And this news conference proved it!
