Did the fountain DIE?? Sheesh people, spellcheck a headline! DYED........ Dyed green – not DIED green. It's pretty, though – either way.

I think Adam Aigner-Treworgy needs to go back to school and learn how to spell. "Died"? I guess he doesn't know the difference between Died and Dyed! I think most grade school kids know the difference. It's no wonder America is getting dumber by the day, kids learn by example and this is just another example of dumb!

Shouldn't it be "dyed" green? Come on!

"Died"? (South Lawn Fountain Died Green for St. Patrick's Day)

That's "dyed" not "died." You need spell check AND common sense to be sure an article is grammatically correct and that the words are spelled correctly and that their meaning is applicable. I don't think the fountain passed away and turned green, do you?

I see these mistakes as confirmation that journalism itself has died and has been inherited by stupid people. Apparently, CNN tried to warn us, but people still believe what they read here.

Give people a break. Since when are humans born perfect? One typo and it's a big deal. I understand this is a legitimate and important news network but at the end of the day it is run by people who have flaws and make mistakes.

Agreed....and I wonder how many times do these folks have to post about it??!! OK...we know...It's dye not die; it's dyed not died! OK....OK!!

What are the odds that the person who wrote the headline is not a college grad?

        March 19, 2012 at 1:12 pm |
      • Name*Liz Carter

Joi...that's right!! That Saved Sanctimonious Santorum says so anyway! Americans don't have to go to school anymore...all Americans are not school material I guess is what he what do they expect?? We don't want to be 'SNOBS'!!

Liz, the point is the person who wrote the headline most likely not only attended college they also have a higher degree. If that is the case what difference did that higher ed and tens of thousands of dollars in tuition do for them?

A spelling error on a headline? What is this, FOX News?

The Liberal (Libel) mainstream media's fountains should all be dyed YELLOW, for their YELLOW JOURNALISM !!!

A truly intelligent comment on the issue...

What is your definition of yellow journalism? Do you mean the term ironically, or in the muckraking sense? You haven't made it clear.

        March 19, 2012 at 7:53 am |
    • John

GreenCollarWorker – Do you have an example of anything Fox did that you can actually call them on? Do you think any of the mid stream media is better? How about MSDNC? You libs tend to do this with everything and everyone you disagree with.

Uh, the fountain didn't die. It was DYED. Don't you guys have any editors over there at CNN?

CNN just uses cut and paste reporting, the lazy way to "report" news.

  11. Steve

    When will it be buried?

    March 18, 2012 at 8:52 am |
  12. Wow...

Dyed, not died. Looks like anyone can get a job as a reporter these days. Does this person have some sort of degree? That stuff is what you learn before you get a High School diploma.

    March 18, 2012 at 12:16 pm |
  13. John

Died versus dyed. What has died is the American educational system. A third of your population does not even finish high school. Listen to college graduates speak on CNN as they use double negatives and use word after word incorrectly e.g translate versus interpret, imply versus infer et cetera. It is all so sad as the USA was once such a great leader in public education. Of course, there is an excellent education available for the relatively few but this headline shows by way of example just how far you have as a society fallen in the field of education. I still like to visit the USA, your people are friendly, and there are lots of good things going on in the USA but the educational system is in many ways in a very bad situation.

I am sorry to hear of the death of the fountain. A green death sounds especially painful!

I trust you will print visiting hours and funeral arrangements.

Please how can you get it wrong in the Headline and right in the body of the article? Do they do this to get comments?

    March 18, 2012 at 6:44 pm |
    • pammersc

It's actually wrong in the article too, it should be dyeing.

Does Obama even think about the irony of dying a fountain green in honor of St Patrick, a Roman Catholic St, even as he does his very best to use the massive coercive power of the Federal Government to destroy the Catholic Church and persecute Christians who insist on not betraying their belief in God?

    March 18, 2012 at 11:17 pm |
    • Attila, The Hun

Oh, pahleese! Most American Catholics don't agree with the church on abortion and contraception.

      March 19, 2012 at 1:58 am |
    • Name*Liz Carter

Did you read the article...I think it said Obama was only continuing the tradition of dying the fountain green. To me that says other Presidents did the same thing. Were they jabbing at the Catholic Church too? Stop the antagonism. We celebrate Black History, Latino History, recently some Asian History and others including Native American why would the President be the first one NOT to honor in celebration the Irish holiday of history, St Patricks Day? If he had neglected to do it...we would have had even a bigger firestorm across the internet ANYWAY! Again I say this President is always damned if he does and damned if he doesn't!! That's on everything he tries to do! Whine whine whine....blah blah hoo boo hoo boo me me...just all the time!! It is just so sad!!! Pathetic!!

        Give BO time to follow the lib MA lead. See below;

While thousands of children around the country will take part in St. Patrick's Day festivities at school on Friday, students at one Massachusetts school are slated to celebrate "O'Green Day" as part of an effort to promote an "inclusive and diverse" learning environment, abc40 News reports.

But Lisa Curin, the principal of Soule Road School in Wilbraham, Mass., is facing harsh criticism from parents, faculty, and other members of the community for her decision.

"I think it’s really stupid. I don’t understand why they would change history’s old holiday names, just to remove the essence of religion from it when it’s not really a religious holiday," Janet Carlyle, a Wilbraham resident, told the station.

Oh but Obama always claims he is different than other Presidents, remember hope and change? Funny how Obama campaigned on Hope and Change and people voted for him for that reason yet when he does this that other Presidents have done they quickly go on defense and yell Bush did it Clinton did it etc. Thought all you Obama supporters wanted change?

John..the Repubs are the ones who are against education...they say all of us don't have to go to school! The person is probably a 'CON'!! LOL!!

Liz, You constantly refer to racists, and other such garbage to make your invalid points. BO has hung around with racists his entire life, people that hate white people and hate America and people like you give him a pass. Independents are done trying to be nice to people like you who do not have a clue and follow blindly. It is time to call it like it is with you. You are either a liar or you are ignorant to what is actually said when repubs talk. Many, many people who voted for BO the last time won't do it again this time around. People like you will obviously vote for him. You are a lost cause. You do not understand these folks work for us. They are not Kings or Queens as many of you dems want to make them out to be. Because they work for us we need to monitor them closely, not follow them blindly. These politicians, dems and repubs, have it made living off us. The majority of them that have been around a while, including BO, Boeaner, McCain, Pelosi, Reid, and even Santorum don't know anything except more big governmnet and more governmnet programs. It is time for change all right and not that phoney change you are talking about. It has nothing to do with whinning or any of the other crap you talk about. It is about thes epeople running the country the way our forefathers envisioned.

Liz, wrong again – Adam Aigner-Treworgy is one of yours. He formally worked with "The Colbert Report". He also worked for NBC and National Journal. He is as liberal as you are Liz.
You libs just don't get it. The majority of the press is liberal and they love BO. That scares the heck out of me and it should do the same to you no matter what party you belong to.

@Notairchboy....yep! That's exactly what we wanted! That is why we elected him and will elect him again! LOL! And that is exactly what he's been giving us...CHANGE! Why if he wasn't, we wouldn't be hearing all of the boo hooing, whining and complaining!! Hadn't you heard?? Folks feathers have been ruffled at every turn he's made since he's been there!! We elected him for CHANGE in the status quo, the business as usual in WASHINGTON has to change!! That's what we want! Oh yeah, don't get it twisted, OBAMA is different from (not than) other former Presidents!! The blame tirades of evil, hateful, disrespectful, demeaning, biggoted, racist mockeries are waged against him daily by people who do resist CHANGE! Change in Washington procedures and policies is what we want from our President,...he can have a beer or two. YES! The rest of them did....and Oooops!! Evidently they couldn't handle it...we went under!! Right down the rabbit hole, so don't trip!! Obama caught us and pulled us back out! I'd say we're wading in the water be cool and be thankful!! Oh..I forgot, Obama didn't do it Bush did!! LOL!!

    March 19, 2012 at 9:33 pm |
    • John

Liz, once again you are totally wrong and once again your hate is at the forefront of who you appear to be. Tell us what change was actually made that you agree with. Not something made up, something good that was actually accomplished. It can't be Obamacare because the most recent numbers coming out of this administration has costs doubling over the next 5 years. It can't be the auto bailout because we are still owed billions in addition to the billions of tax breaks GM is getting, not to mention $10,000 stimulas for each Volt that is purchased. It can't be the Arab Spring because that part of the world is blowing up. It can't be improved relations with other countries because this country has shunned its friends in support of people who want to destroy the US.
SO what is it that you hold your hat on? All I see is hate from you on a daily basis. I feel sorry for you. And remember, sticks and stones. If all you have is hate, please keep it to yourself.

      March 20, 2012 at 9:30 am |
      • John

Obama is not different than Carter or the Clintons. He may be a little more radical. He may have hung around with open racists and haters of America, he may be a less forthcoming, but other than that he is the same. These people have their agenda of how they want to change the constitution so it fits their agenda. People like you may not be able to see this because it is what you want and support.

        March 20, 2012 at 9:35 am |
    • John

And, BTW, if you really want to change how Washington works you need to vote Tea Party.
But, of course you libs can't do this because the media tells you the Tea Party is bad.

They think they're super smart and give them long titles, but then they can't spell the word dye – reporters who don't know our language. Derp. No wonder he's taking pictures of green fountains.
