The crowd loved himIt may have been a tough week for the president at the Supreme Court, but you wouldn't have known that Friday: thousands of students at the University of Vermont couldn't get enough of Obama during a campaign speech. You knew things would go well for him when his opening comment: "I'm here..." was interrupted by applause. Huge cheers erupted when the president talked about withdrawing from Iraq, health care reform, and affordable education. In a swipe at Republicans, the president said hard work is a value, but so is "looking out for one another...I'm my brother's keeper. I'm my sister's keeper. That's a value. " Wild applause. |

What will the GOP have to crow about - Paul Ryan's cruel budget that threatens to strip Americans of their dignity, and the ability to properly care for their families! Some accomplishment! Your front runner, Romney, called Ryan's budget "bold" and "exciting!" Imagine, the thought of 40 million hungry, uninsured Americans excites him!

Let's not forget that Bush started two wars. Let's not forget that Bush borrowed money from the Chinese to give every household in America a $600 rebate in 2004, while he was spending more money than he was taking in. Let's not forget the scare tactics he played with the color spectrum of alerts until his second election was passed. Let's not forget "Mission Accomplished" Bush and Reagan were both losers, but noone does the research to appreciate that much. Obama raised the debt ceiling 3 times while in office, but Reagan raised it 17 times. Noone mentions that. Reagan raised taxes 11 times, after he cut taxes once. Reagan told Gorby, "Gorby, tera down this wall.' Gorby layghed his ass off and ignored it. Two and one half years later, a few West Germans took it upon themselves to start sledgehammering it, and Gorby let it happen. If it has something to do with Reagans speech, it would have happened in days. Reagan was president of the Screen Actors Guild, yet was quick to start breaking unions, even after his speech in New Jersey talking about how much they were needed. If the republicans cared so much for the "Working poor," why is it they refuse to raise the taxes on the wealthiest of Americans and let the poor handle the bill? Think about national health care as a reality. Canada has it amongst 30 million people, its entire populace. Think of how easy it could be if we all paid our fair share with a population ten times the size of Canada. New Zealand only has a population of 1.7million and has a successful National Healthcare plan. So does Autrailia, Japan, Norway, Finland, Denmark, France, Ireland and a host of others. Do you honestly mean to tell us that it's impossible for Americans to have it here? Are we too stupid to figure out a plan? Are we too backwards to have the foresight to initiate a plan? I don't think so. Our problem isn't the cost of it. Our problems are the politics of it. Big corporations, which are big political contributors have too much to lose and everything to gain. I think the 5 conservative justices on the Supreme Court and the GOP are in a heck of a jackpot. They need to find Obamacare unconstitutional to give Obama a big FAIL, but they realized a little late that people like the stuff about insurance companies not being able to drop you when you get sick and turning people down for coverage a lot more than they don't like the other stuff and are going to hold REPUBLICANS in CONGRESS for losing it, and ROMNEY can't even suggest he'll try to get those things back because he has to run from Obamacare as fast as he can.
Bottom line, the SCOTUS might not only be sealing the GOP's fate and giving the Dems a majority in the House and a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. Not only that, but it's very possible that Obama will get to appoint 2 SCOTUS justices in the next term and we'll have a liberal SCOTUS to boot.

Giving is not giving unless it's done willingly and with a free heart. If I take your money and give it away it doesn't mean I did the giving, it just makes me the middle man, the redistributer. You also have no way of knowing how much of your money I used for overhead or other "expenses". If I directly give to a charity I know what their other costs are and know where the money's going. Americans are the most charitable on earth, so knock it off with the charges of selfishness. You think just because Obama wants to take more money that makes him more generous? To get a true measure of the man you might want to look at his tax returns and see what he gives to charities. It's easy to be loose with someone else's money but leftists never seem to be able to make that connection, they just fall on their knees and worship politicians.

Really, I doubt very much if today's college students are the ones who are consuming the most without putting anything back in. I know far too many college students who spend plenty of their time giving back. Young people who go to other countries (or rural areas of our own) to work and help those less fortunate.
Many of these students spend their spring break building homes in Haiti, or providing volunteer service at health clinics.
