POTUS' Day Ahead: Going after the Ryan plan

President Obama will take square aim at Rep. Paul Ryan's budget proposal Tuesday during a midday speech that White House aides have described as a significant effort to counter-argue the GOP's budget plans.  During the remarks, to be delivered at a luncheon sponsored by the Associated Press, Obama will call Ryan's plan a "Trojan Horse."

"Disguised as deficit reduction plan, it’s really an attempt to impose a radical vision on our country. It’s nothing but thinly-veiled Social Darwinism," the president will say, according to advanced remarks released by the White House.

Senior administration officials believe Ryan's budget - which passed the House on a party-line vote but will not clear the Senate - is ripe for attack because all the Republican presidential candidates have embraced it and it calls for significant, and largely unpopular, cuts to entitlement programs like medicare.

There's nothing disguised about it at all; they tailored a budget so intentionally unacceptable across the aisle that it would be blocked. They were burned by their own stubbornness and now they're trying to put Senate Democrats into the same position they forced themselves into so they can try to steer their own campaign narratives of a 'do nothing Congress' back against everyone else.

How do you explain several dems voting for it?

      • The REAL TRUTH...

John, there are always folks on both sides of the aisle that are willing to compromise on ANY bill. The fact that some Dems are *on board* doesn't make it an acceptable budget. There were also some GOP members that vote for ACA. and that means?

How many Repub votes did Obamacare get? Your theory doesn't hold water. Dems keep blaming the Repubs on this vote when ultimately it was the few dems who actually killed it.
Do you actually comprimise on things you are totally against? If you do that is crazy. That is one of the Dem main talking points and it is stupid.

What repub voted for Obamacare? Calling it the ACA when it already forecasts double what they said originally just doesn't make sense to me.

Don’t you think this is a politically news worthy event?

Felony charges were filed charges Monday against four St. Joseph County Democratic officials and deputies as part of a multiple-felony case involving the alleged forging of Democratic presidential primary petitions in the 2008 election. This is against democrat OFFICIALS and DEPUTIES, not just some low level volunteers.

Obamas plan is do nothing except bash dems and hope things change with the economy. It appears hope and change has transitioned to BS and Bash.

As ususal, they are accusing the right of exactly what the left does. About entitlements: In America all are equal. If one is entitled, all are entitled. What part of fair is not understood? Fair is when everyone follows the same rules. Do you want to define it as "I decide what is fair and I'll tell you what rule to follow so I'll think its fair?"

The party of NO strikes again. This will be yet another bill Harry will not take a vote on. The dems want to tell us again how BO tries to work with the other side of the aisle? Amazing that BO could say this stuff with a straight "it’s really an attempt to impose a radical vision on our country. It’s nothing but thinly-veiled Social Darwinism,"

Israel is a proven terrorist state, that has carried out aggressive actions against their own allies, not to mention innocent civillians.

    White phosphorous...

    Bomblets in lebannon..

And AIPACS enourmous influence in American politics.

That is the face of true terrorism.

Oddly, you have said NOTHING about the folks who desire to drive Israel off the planet. Why is that? No mention of massive rocket attacks by Hamas or Hezbollah? Why is that Jon? No mention of give land for peace and getting nothing in return? Perhaps you need to do a LITTLE more research and be a LOT more honest!
